In '69 took a used '68 Charger in that gorgeous metallic turquoise color home to my Mom to see if she wanted it, but Dad said too much $$$$... it had white top and white interior! 318, 2 bbl., automatic... $2595... only thing I didn't like was those '68 seats 02:15 that looked like they had been sliced open by a knife...

@barfoonisland2003 I get your sentiment,,, but I have a 1971 Challenger convertible with a 440 and compared to my 2013 Challenger with a 3.6L,,,, the old stuff sounds and runs better in a straight line,,, but beyond that,,, the new stuff is WAY better handling, way better NVH, and economy is simply no comparison.... so, I WISH they would go back and do a modern copy of the 68 Chargers like they did the Challenger and we'd be living the dream!

actually the opposite is true. cars in the 60's and 70's were worn out by 100k if you were lucky. they rattled, rotted, burned oil and leaked water around the windows, got crappy gas mileage and were death traps. i'm not familiar with the chargers of the era but the camaros, gto's, chevelles, etc were pretty junky after only a few years. they rode and handled pretty poorly and as for performance, todays 6 cylinders would beat a lot of those v8's. but the styling of that era was awesome and you could sleep in the back seat.
