Thanks for that unbiased vid. I had the same issue with SCT and the tuner for my 04 Merc. Once the tuner wasn’t the newest model, it suddenly “wasn’t supported” anymore. Thanks again brother.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this issue. Thought this was only my truck. Have a 2014 sport 8 speed. Daily driver. Have both sct and superchips tuner, sct will just fail but not lock my pcm, the superchips locked up my pcm. On the phone with tech for a long time. Had to send the pcm and tuner away for my truck to be up and running again. Being here in Canada it took 3 weeks to have my daily driver up and running again. Extremely inconvenient.

Hey John, Thank you for the feedback. I got a Bully Dog for my 18 and found they only have support up until the 2017 Ram. I was going to pivck up the i3 with the unlocked PCM. I hope it doesn't give me issues like it did for your 14. Take care and stay safe!

Your the man John.....love watching your videos....I have a 2017 Ram 1500....just starting the mod process...I have done the AFE Momentum cold air intake....AFE throttle body spacer....swapped the stock muffler for a Flowmaster Outlaw...(which I love the sound by the way)...next I seriously want to put on the JBA shorty headers and do true dual exhaust and scrap that crappie stock Y-pipe....anyways all your videos make it possible for handy guys to achieve....keep up the great work🤘

Glad I came across your video. I’m gonna need a new PCM bc the voltage regulator is not working anymore to activate the alternator to charge, so I was gonna go ahead and just go all in on new PCM and tuner from Diablo but I’m gonna look into HP now

Completely agree with you. Had similar issues with their i3 on a GM truck. They couldn't figure out and I eventually moved on.

I purchased the D3 tuner for my 2014 Ram clutch fan delete, to set the temp from 220f to 190f and found out that it didn't to the temp only AC so I got a tuner that I can't use thanks to John. I also got a hold of Diablo and didn't get anywhere wasted a lot of time and money.

I believe you I bought an 06 Chrysler 300 c 5.7 hemi with the Diablo sport predator and once I tried to retune it after 4 months I started to get limp mode and random shut offs my friend also with his 06 charger with the 5.7

Sorry you had that issue. I went with the DCX 2 times with no issues with my 2014 8 speed. It must be a hit or miss issue, but glad you found a winner for your truck.

I have two of the Diablo Predator 1 tuner for two different types of diesel manufacturer. I also feel the same Diablo Sports left out the people who have the tuners, move their attention to newer vehicles and left older tuners with no more updates.

Been using diablosport in my 300c never had a problem a makes a shit ton more HP than stock. Had it on for at least 6-7 years without a single problem. Diablosport is going in my 2019 vette also! Cant wait to get it!

i went with the 8246 i3 for the 17-18 and 19 silverado legacy. not the new 19 body. Can tune was alright, but I went with a custom tune from lewis at diablew tuning. night and day diff. so happy.

I've got a 14 Ram 4x4 hemi 8 speed. Does HP tuners have the option to remove the mds for the hemi? Mds might not be what it's called, pretty much the mds deactivates 4 of the 8 cylinders, putting it in eco mode. Which with a custom exhaust sounds horrible.

I still have the original Predators on my 09 Ram and 07 Bee. I bought the InTune for my GCSRT, but the screen stopped working...apparently it was a known problem with them.....upgraded to the I3 finally and hit up their customer service to see if the software was the same since I already had a custom tune on the Jeep. The first guy had me copy the files (factory files) and email them to him, no response after almost 2 months.....so I did another ticket calling the guy out and the girl responded right away that everything would work with no issues. I've personally never had any tuning issues, but I know others have.....much like anything else in this world, it's hit or miss.

I just had a custom tune by Jay Greene and uses the Diablo as a host. I can not tell you in enough words how he transformed my truck to a wicked beast! And now the transmission shifts like a muscle car and squeals the tires when it hits second. You need to check him out! Then ask him about his low 10 second Ram. Great guy!

So if using just the canned tune, does it work? Did yours lock up from trying to custom tune it? I just bought the predator 2 for my 2013 5.7 and just stopped doing it after watching this video. You got me scared. Did research but didn't see anything bad until I saw your video.

Hi John whats up. I got a DiabloSport tuner and I send it back it didn't work for me. So I looked at the HP tuner and got on there website everything looked good a lot of people on it talking about tunes and selling tunes But when I looked at the hole programming and perimeters it was a little to much to learn and a lot of people on there that where asking questions about this and that because they where having problems with there tune that they installed. I have a 2014 Ram 5.7 2WD I did a lot of things that you where taking about in your videos like EV, Cold air intake, shorty headers, and so on it's been a good truck so far. so I thought I found a deal and I bought a USED Diablosport i1000 intune, the very first model I believe, on OfferUp for $200 bc the seller said it wasn’t mothered to his vehicle anymore come to find out when I tried it on my Ram, it kept saying “no licenses available”. So I did some research and apparently I have to get the tuner reset by diablosport for $179. Is it even worth it at this point? Seeing as how for the first model you have to physically plug it in a computer and find all the update files yourself. I have a 6 speed 2012 Ram.

They sure seem like a hit or miss, I bought the tuner for my 2014 8 speed and it didn’t work. For $500+ you’d think they could at least update the tuner before they ship it. Anyways I “update” the tuner and it kept saying vehicle isn’t supported. Not to mention it would keep freezing. I just bought the new diablo sport tuner with the unlocked pcm through moes performance but I’ll be getting a custom tune from Jay Greene. Can’t wait to get it! Hope it works smoothly.

I got an i3 for my 12 ram 5.7 6 speed auto. I've really questioned if it shuts off the mds like they say it does. Still have the eco light on the dash.

I never got completely locked out but have had issues where a tune failed with my diablo sport. I also after an ECM update from FCA don’t seem to have any engines tunes and only trans tune. I have 2014 Ram with 8 speed too. Originally I had engine tune and no trans tune and most recently I have no engine tunes and only trans tune.

I’ve been around since before you started building the truck and I actually have a 2014 bighorn with the 8 speed and I wanted to see what my options were for some cheap canned tunes or what I can do to adjust air fuel mixes/ tire size things like that. I don’t think the price of the HP tuners is worth it for me, are there any other options ?

I just got a 2012 challenger rt manual...got the diablo sport i3. Everyone said the 93 octane tune was great. After several hours of updating the software when I finally got to upload a tune it only offered the 91 octane tune. Drove it and couldn't feel anything different. Uninstalled it and sent it back. Not worth the $450.

2011 Jeep Rubicon automatic. I can’t update my diablo Ripp tune or download the tune to my Jeep. Computer says update complete but the tuner says it failed. I might be jumping ship too lol

You look into jay Greene tunes? You send them you diablo sport tuner or any other tuner I think and they tune it and tune the transmission for the 8spd I think there in Texas. I know a lot of guys send there tuner to him

It turned my 2013 Rt 6speed into a neck snapping animal but everything but the motor broke so make sure you have a warranty and get rid of it when it’s up period

That sucks! but for my end i got diablo T2 with new pcm just to be safe from it wanting to mess up my oem pcm. It works great with no issues and my truck is a 8 speed as well. Also got a custom tune by hemifever definitely felt a big difference.

I got a 2014 with the 8 speed, my I3 worked just fine. Mine gave me the option to skip the TCM part so it did not even try to mess with it. So think they are hit or miss. And yes the tuner was updated couple weeks ago before I loaded so its not an older version.

Ok everyone i bought a *DIABLO SPORT I3* for tuning on my 300, later sold and got a 03 ram and later a 12ram 5.7l. Later it works perfectly and as the stated in the video (they should be able to buy licensing for a different car) which the I3 supports and if your custom tuning through Jay Greene Racing he even recommends the I3 or T2.

Diablo has been blasted with bad reviews sense it came out! I really wanted one but no fkn way now. I got a 2015 Chevy 4x4 Z71, I’m an older HOTROD builder an I’m struggling with looking for a way to tune my truck. I like building my pro street stuff but I’m not sure what I can do performance wise with my truck. Let me know if anyone knows a way to get an extra 100,150 horse outta my 5.3L. I bought the same tuner per your advice. This was before you tried the tranny tune. My 2014 4x4 8 speed works perfect. I know Ive posted this before. Its hit or miss on the 2014. I do hate the long loading going from stock to a new tune. I still have my 04 Mustang cobra that I bought new back in the day. It is using the diablo predator canned tune and making 487 rwhp from just a cheap pully swap on 91 octane tune. I know there are better tunes out there and I am going Jay Greens for my Ram tune I think and ditching the Diablo tuner although it does work on my Truck.

I agree for the most part. It's all about selling a new piece of hardware. Once they have your money, they don't care about supporting your device or vehicle. I stay away from Diablo and I used to recommend their products. Not anymore... they bricked my ECU and gave zero f*cks. Tow fees, $1200 dollars, a new ECU later and I don't even get a "Sorry" from them. Stay away from DiabloSport. Mike Litsch can go get... icecream!
