This is the scale my only guitar teacher taught me at 14. It took years to realize how powerful it is and what a gift he’d given me. Thanks Rick!

Very cool, i cant wait to try it out if my wrists recover...broke both a few weeks ago. 😅 Tony iommi stuff is always great...love him and learned a lot of his playin. Geezer Butler brought me to also play the bass. They both together are heaven and hell 🤘

I bought a neck from Musikraft about 7 years ago. I went all out on it, and got the “rolled edges”. It’s a 1-5/8” nut width, compound radius (7 to 10 if I remember correctly). That neck is so worn in now, it just feels perfect.

Howdy..Great tutorial. Your a great teacher. I recommend to anyone to check out the original recordings of Freddie King: his vocal tunes and instrumentals. The lead guitar is stellar on everything!! Talk about penta phrasing with some 6 ths thrown in. Try Sidetracked...studio version.

I bet that in a few weeks of playing this neck it feels nice and the right thickness/profile. It's just such a difference at first, especially getting used to a compound fretboard radius like a Strat at the nut and an Ibanez shredder at the other end. Give it a while.

My old guitar teacher referred to this as the sliding pentatonic scale. I think that a neck should fill the hand, little necks suit little hands. There seems to be an impression that skinny necks are "fast". Super skinny necks are suitable for some very fast styles of playing , but a skinny neck won't make you fast 🤔

Hey, I've noticed that you have really great feedback control when you ring out your notes. There's something really musical about the way it sounds, and I was wondering if that's coming from a pedal, or an amp, or is it just managing the feedback naturally with body positioning and stuff, or is it finger tone, etc.
@EricHaugenGuitar
@EricHaugenGuitar Жыл бұрын
It’s the pedal! I don’t play loud enough to get amp feedback - gotta save my ears!

Eric. isn't it possible to play changes with diagonal pentatonics?
@EricHaugenGuitar
@EricHaugenGuitar Жыл бұрын
I actually wouldn't recommend it. The inertia of the diagonal scales makes it hard to see the chord structures as you're playing.

I guess you’ve finally broken out of the pentatonic boxes. How long did it take you to do it? When you finally get enough playing under your belt, you’ll be able to move all over the board and add different Timber’s to your playing. Good luck in your adventures!
