When i was younger, I did not get her...but when I grew up, I saw the DEPTH, THE WONDER THAT IS DIAHANN CARROLL.... She is so funny, so amazing, and so unaffected by all that she encompasses... I love her manner, her being in existence. She totally gets the majesty and the nothingness that is television in the 70s and 80s!

Ditto! I didn’t get Ms. Carroll in the 1980’s I was too young. I’m soon to be 50 and find her terribly fascinating.

Lorenzo Sanders Dam bro, you you beat me to the punch!! I thought the exact same thing. She let you know whats up with her "New York home" with class and dignity.

From watching this interview, she seems very much like her character Devereaux.

Diahann Carroll exemplified sheer elegance and class. "Dynasty" was all the more interesting when her fiesty and fierce character role,"Dominique"came on the scene. As Blake Carrington's half sister this was something to watch! We know the rest = Best DRAMA and the plot thickens ... She will be sorely missed by all who loved her. 👠 R. I. H. I've been discovering "Julia" thanks to the Aspire network. Great show, and she raised the bar for television as a whole.

What a beautiful and captivating lady , her speech and diction is so perfect. She was wonderful as Dominique and the “battles” with Alexis were tv gold RIP Miss Carroll.

IF Dynasty wouldn't have been cancelled she would have had a comeback in the tenth season. Dominique was the mystery character in the limousine in season 9

What I loved so much about this interview…was that the interviewer was just as exhilarating and fun as Diahann Carroll. The shared laughter between both women was so uplifting and a joy to hear. Does anyone know whom the interviewer is/was? Either way, this video was divine, and thoroughly enjoyed by me. Much love to both ladies. ❤️👏👏👍👍❤️

Love how she confirms most of these actors just have a hoot doing absolutely no work, getting paids millions of dollars. What a strange, skewed world

Out of the 4, 1980s nighttime soaps, Dynasty was really the only one for her. Falcon Crest I’d say, would have been her other option.

It's a shame they didn't have Dominique closer to Diahann's description. After a promising start Dominique lost quite a bit of her drive.
@darthonyx23824 жыл бұрын
It's what always happens to complex black characters especially during that time, their edge their drive, and their importance to the series is often chipped away at after their initial appearance. Given what we know from Ms. Carroll's description of the character and how she came to be through Diahann's advocating. They never had a long term plan for her, nor did that have the imagination to truly develop a woman of her grace, beauty, or intelligence!

I have always loved Diahann Carroll. She has always uplifted the black race, even though she's gotten a lot of flack from blacks unfortunately, as well as whites, just like Diana Ross.

I felt insulted for her character when they did the reunions and they were doing it on Oprah and they said they only wanted to concentrate on the Family Dominique was family she was Blake sister you can't get any closer than that that was very insulting.
