I loved the Julia show. I was a 13 year old Black girl and it made me so proud to see a beautiful Black woman with her own TV program. RIP, Diahann Carroll. Thank you for being a trailblazer.

People may not know how important the show Julia was. Also the other shows she mentioned I-Spy and the Mod Squad. They did break down alot of barriers.

Just ridiculous that so much negativity was directed at this show and Diahann Carroll personally. Why didn't anyone level the same criticism against Bill Cosby's character on "I-Spy"? The same argument that the Julia character wasn't representative of the African-Americans' reality could easily have been leveled against Bill Cosby's character as well. The thing with Julia was they did address the problems of racism pretty frankly in more than a few episodes. I watch the show now and I'm amazed at just how openly and honestly some of those episodes spoke about the problems of race as well as the problems of being a single mother. I'm just so happy the Aspire network is airing this show and that in promos, they've recognized it as a truly ground-breaking show. Mainly, though, I'm happy that with the passage of time, everyone can enjoy Julia for what it is: a good show period.
