Ray came to Washington from his native Bronx in the early Sixties as an Army infantry/intelligence officer and then served as a CIA analyst for 27 years, from the administration of John F. Kennedy to that of George H. W. Bush. Ray’s duties included chairing National Intelligence Estimates and preparing the President’s Daily Brief, which he briefed one-on-one to President Ronald Reagan’s five most senior national security advisers from 1981 to 1985.

Where were the thinking Jewish people in the 60s and 70s? Walking with Martin Luther King, protesting the genocide of the Vietnamese and supporting the once respected ADL and Constitutional rights. Ray has seen these once ethical people turn into the perpetrators of a modern day Shoah. This is a national tragedy that can be corrected if "justice", as Ray said, is pursued. Thank you, Dima, for these important words. May 2024 prove to a pivotal year for righteous humanity.

Another excellent interview with the extraordinarily brilliant analyst and profound thinker, Ray McGovern! It is amazing the depth of understanding that this man possesses about so many critically important topics! His insights and viewpoints are all the more meaningful, as a result of his many years as a top level analyst , within the intelligence community! It is tragic that he is not consulted by the current Administration on matters of international affairs, as they have no one with any of Ray’s background or experience , with the folks who formulate and implement our foreign policy initiatives! It is shameful that the U.S. has such clueless and arrogant asses , calling the shots for our reckless and often misguided policies around the world! In these challenging times, someone with Ray McGovern’s expertise is needed more than ever. Thank you Nima for inviting Ray back as a guest on your podcast. Most people in this era do not have the capacity or will to listen to Ray as to listen to Ray one must have an attention span. They want " sound bytes ". Ray is a principled man with an armada of knowledge.

Ray McGovern stated in unambiguous terms that money and wealth - not humanistic ideals - are the determinant factor in the future of the human species. The injustices and inequities currently happening everywhere from the inner-city streets of America to the bombed-out streets of Gaza are present-day manifestations of that tragic reality. Like the conscience John Pilger tried so hard to help us out with, for ourselves and Palestinians, Ray is our moral compass. And the weathervane we turn to for what justice entails. I recently went to one of my rare confessions. Mass was not scheduled at the time, but considering what Christ did on the cross, and his presence in the eucharist in the tabernacle in a huge beautiful church sat alone with two people silent in the pews, I have the intention to spend time with him to thank him for what he did for us. We talk of his second coming, but for catholics he's already here on earth with us.

pope reacted to his flock from the greater world who were openly disheartened when pope failed to mention palestine deaths in his first speech and only focused on oct7 events. vatican seem to be oblivion that its churches in greater world are always filled to brim even on normal sundays and vaticans political stand is making it difficult for its flock in non west countries to get approval for expansion of the church. vatican was already widely viewed as yielding to western political policies and current events have cemented this view further. thank god the pope came out with a second statement condemning action of isarel, but afraid long term damage has been done.

How about open and vocal condemnation of Israel's actions by every Catholic bishop, with many regular priests preaching the message to their audience? It is well within the Pope's power to do that. Instead, he is merely paying minimal lip service... Probably fearful of alienating certain powerful donors.

As Mr. McGovern likes to have a more philosophical view on things and situations - what I personally appreciate very much - I would like to emphasize on the fact, that democracy like we understand it in theory, NEVER existed. We had the illusion of something appearing like democracy as long as the UDSSR still existed because the elites who detain all the power (political and economic) had to make concessions because they feared the attraction the systemic rival - the communist system - could have on our capitalist societies. But since the UDSSR collapsed, the capitalist power elites don't even try anymore to give our systems the appearance of "democracies". Openly basic human rights are violated (covid-measures), free speach is abolished (censure on the Internet but moreover the imprisonment of Julian Assange), law is infringed (aggression of Ex-Yugoslavia) etc. In my opinion, we need a counterbalance to our system that became very rude and extremely inhumane. But we also need mechanims to prevent our elites to concentate power to the detrimemt of the majority of the people because elites tend to accumulate power and systems to evolve in autocratic ones without counterbalance from outside and check and balances from inside the system.

Of course the US does not want to fight Russia and China per se. Unfortunately for all of us, the US uses the conflicts around the world to promote its arms sales and US dollar hegemony. This is the only base on which the 34 trillion debt economy can survive (for the time being). NATO is THE best marketing front end available to the US. The majority of the Russian people have supported President Putin for many years. Never in the history of the USSR or the new Russia has there been such a wise politician. In the 90s, Russia withdrew all its troops from Eastern Europe, closed all the already few military bases in Cuba, Angola, and Vietnam. Military factories abruptly stopped producing airplanes, helicopters, warships, submarines and armored vehicles. I, and like many others in the new Russia, thought that now was the time for peaceful coexistence with the United States and the West. And what did we get in return? Very soon everything changed, constant interference in Russia's internal affairs on all occasions and NATO's advance to the East began. Ukraine, with its neo-Nazi ideology and extremely hostile attitude towards all Russian, language and culture, was better suited than anyone to unleash the US war against Russia at the hands of Ukrainians. If we recall Putin's first address to the Russian people in February 2022, then there are words that, if necessary, Russia will launch such a military strike against those who will interfere with the conduct of a special military operation, which they have never experienced in their history. It is American and most Western politicians who have long gone mad, in their idiot dreams of defeating Russia.
