Thank you for this insightful interview. I was astounded to learn that Vicky Nuland's claim to understanding the Russian mind was that she worked as waitress on a fishing boat during her 20s. I did find a link to an article about this, but apparently, the link is blocked and not available to me here in the USA. I immediately downloaded a book on Russian food so that I, too, can be expert! 😅

@simonhodges6084
@simonhodges6084 5 ай бұрын
@@carolberry2239 She was around but all of this dates back to the Wolfowitz doctrine which was leaked in 1992. People think of the Neocons as if they were a political party but they are not. They are an ad-hoc loose grouping of affiliations which centre around the thinking of 2 different philosophers. James Burnham and Leo Strauss. Robert Kagan is Nuland's Neocon husband and he and his father Donald Kagan had links to the philosophy of Strauss whereas Irving Kristol and his son Bill Kristol had stronger links to the ex-Trotskyite James Burnham. The Straussian wing of the Neocons are out and out Zionists, the Burnham wing not so much. The politics of the Neocons has always been diffused across governments, NGOs and think tanks. No single person should be held to account for the atrocities they have perpetrated. They should all be held to account in court.

@@r0mi44Yeah, but back then it was driven by the cold war. Everything that happened since 1991 and the fall of communism is about the Neocons trying to achieve US unipolar dominance as laid out in the Project for a New American Century of which Nuland's husband Kagan and Bill Kristol were founders.

Nuland's family are apparently originally from Bessarabia, a historically Romanian kingdom annexed by the Soviets under assent from the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. Nuland's grandfather, Meyer Nudelman, emigrated from Russia to the Bronx and lived out the rest of his life in a rage, often directed at Russia. Meyer's stormy attitudes toward Russia and feelings of being cheated left a deep mark on Nuland's Yale prof. father Sherwin Nuland, who was institutionalized due to depression for a year as a middle aged man. Victoria wanted to slay the family's psychological demon by using American foreign policy to defeat Russia.
