@PheasantLaneFarm3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Even if I had taller walls I would have wood on top. But the taller the sides the farther a skid steer or other equipment has to drop the material in. Especially with the way we haul logs 32 inches seems like a long way to drop them haha. If I was only using it for trash I would consider 4 ft sides.

There are lots of options out there right now. It does take about 55 seconds to go all the way up. I don't have anything else to compare it to, but I wish it was faster. That being said I've very happy with this trailer. I'd like to test out some others someday. This one is very heavy dudt compared to some of the others I looked at.

regarding the chains on the rear doors: I agree about dents and scratches being par for the course... but, one alternative is to cut some bicycle inner tube to length and slip it over the length of chain--then slip some heat-shrink tubing over the hook part of your gate snap. (And it reduces rattles--rides quieter).
@PheasantLaneFarm3 жыл бұрын
I've thought about doing something similar. But I never know how I'll be using the doors and that would be bothersome when needing to adjust the length of chains. Somone else mentions the woven style protector as you see on some older pick up truck beds but I think I would be in the same situation. I do like the idea of the shrink tubing! Hey, your in depth thoughts and details of your Diamond C dump are well put together. I actually have a new dump trailer on the way. End of the month it's supposed to be in. I believe this week is the beginning of the build. I ended up going with a Moritz, for a few reasons. It's a 2021, a 12 footer, 14k GVWR. Price was real reasonable, with tarp kit out the door was right under $7,600. Diamond C does make a great trailer. I am interested in the differences over time between your Diamond C and my 12' Moritz. I also live in Ohio, about 30 minutes east of Canton. Keep up the informative videos and hope your arm is mending well.

I’m selling my PJ dump trailer and will look to replace with a better quality trailer. How do you like your Moritz trailer?
@kennethunkefer71633 жыл бұрын
@@kyhamoge I only picked it up 4 days ago. Like the one reviewer said about the paint job. A lot of runs, but it's at least painted with a thick coat. They obviously could have done better there. I can deal with that. Rust is what I hate most. Far as the little bit I've towed it. It is really smooth. I haven't put a load on it yet. The torsion axles make a big difference. They come standard on the Moritz. Most other manufacturers sell them as an upgrade option. So do your research there. There are different opinions on torsion vs. spring suspension. Personally, the trailer is mechanically well made. I don't know what else I would ask for in a trailer. I did want paint over powder coat. I can fix paint relatively easy. And I will coat it in fluid film to eliminate rust. Plan to keep it the rest of my life, and I'm not quite 35 years old. Purchased permanent plates for it just yesterday.

@@trentclark4754 Hi Trent, My trailer I purchased new from Bennett trailer sales in Salem Ohio. A bit of a drive but could be worth it for you. The currently list a 12' 14K GVW Moritz for $10,145. Same trailer as the one I bought early spring of last year. Nearly $3k more than I paid for it too.... Reeediculous how much the price increase has been since buying mine. If you are interested in the same thing but 12K GVW those run like $300 to $600 cheaper. Best of luck, I'm quite pleased with my Moritz. I did add custom side boards that increase the volume to something like 8.5 yards, a little more than the 14 footer with no raised sides. I bought it for the heavier axles, not so much for the volume increase over my old trailer.

Great video, in my experience with construction & dump trailers unless it’s rock or cement a typical trailer will handle whatever you load. I run a small construction company & we run a 10’ which 90% of the time only sees residential construction debris trash & maybe small equipment. The only times it’s ever been over loaded is same as you, those gravel equipment operators can be squirrelly so you have to be diligent. Currently I’m in the market for a small 12’ for siding debris & the ease of towing & use on a typical half ton work truck. When you drive from the country to the city for work daily gas mileage is everything. But again my setup was built around construction debris, if I was hauling gravel daily the truck/trailer would be heavily built. Thanks for the video & glad I came across your channel. Best recovery Trent from Ohio

Back in the 50's and 60's, Trucks had chains on their tailgates. there was a thin rubber like tube slid over the chains to protect the bed sides and the tailgate when in the up position. Good question. When I bought that trailer in Sept it was hard to find dumps. Due to covid a lot of manufacturers are behind. I was told diamond c is 25+ weeks out on new orders. I put money down on this trailer sight unseen. It just happened to be the next 14ft that they had coming in. I didn't want to wait months for my trailer. Do you provide the hauling service / renting it like a dumpster? What kind of price terms does it yield? Get well.

So if you’re on the phone with a salesman and he tells you he has one left, don’t say I’ll drive down and take a look, you better buy it over the phone unseen and get to the sales yard before they open and be the first one in.
