I don't have this Acustica Audio plugin but I have Ruby2, Cream 2, Viridian 2, Ceil and El Rey. These are the most powerful plugins out there

man I don´t wanna crap on UAD, but most of Acustica Stuff is so much better. Speaking of Pultec: Try Purple 3 from Acustica. Is right now with special price until 3.10 (i think). Top notch Pultec EQ, even in serveral different emulations (5, 6 plugins in this package) ...:And if you like it, I absolutely can recommend: Pink (API), Sand 3 (SSL), Gold 4 (Neve) and Taupe (Tape Plugin)

A lot of Acustica stuff sounds amazing, but it's just too CPU intensive. Pink, their take on API, is one of the most beautiful sounding plugins I've ever heard. I'd love to use it on every track in a mix, but it's just impossible when every instance is taking up a quarter of your processing power. Diamond is gorgeous, as is their Amek and Pultec plugs.

Great show Dave. Can you tell us: are there any plugins or techniques you use to emulate FM radio? Or at least are there any ways to hard-clamp frequencies that spike through the compressors? it seem that most limiters -- even multiband -- still have some type of bleed through that you don't hear on FM processors -- thx much!

Acustica is no joke. Even their freebie CMPink EQ, based on the API 550B is serious business. Heavy on the CPU but the sound quality is unparalleled.

Are there any non heavy acustica audio Plugins? Everyone I hear from says the CPU is high from almost all of them

@@PharaohLawLess1 Look into a plugin called Soothe if you're into de harshing sounds. Instead of low shelving or removing a band of frequency, it ducks all harsh sounding ones!

RazzerRaw I have that plugin too and I use it in every song. And I have the Brainwork Refinement plugin that helps with harsh sounds and Izotope RX 7 has a section for taming harshness too

Bought Nebula from the very first Beta and they have played an incredibly long game waiting for computer speeds to catch up with their vision. Now with the Aqua they can stuff their technology inside beautiful GUI's and charge a good whack for them. But Dave come on man, I can see your gain is on about +4 so it's hardly a fair before and after comparison!

It is not only the specific "curve" (assuming that you are talking frequency here). I believe on the MF it is like two joined filters - HPF + LPF. So it is flat on the top. But the transient response of it is also very important - what's up with that phase. Harmonic distortion too and are you representing it dynamically... There are many variables that make an EQ unique and many that can make a digital EQ sound plastic. What he is hearing is HW like tone and unique character with some micro details.
