Saw Diamond Head many times and they were one of the best bands NEVER to make it big. I've still got their singles in a box somewhere.

I saw Diamond Head three times back in 82-83 this vid is nothing compared to watching them live.Sean Harris was one of the best front men ever and i've seen a few in fact the band were just amazing...the sad thing was that when the original drummer and bassist packed it in they were never really the same band again...but in saying that the Canterbury album was amazing and so ahead of it's time!!

Because of treacherous family member management of the band and their affairs, when really - it should have been handled by a professional in the industry. and probably not touring the hell out of the US at the start of their career, thats how bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden had them licked!

I only seen Diamond Head at their peak in a small local club where they came back & played at least 4 times and everyone loved them. Maiden, I've only ever seen at Donnington so it's not practical to compare them - but both great bands in their own way.

+Omar Rodriguez Lars actually followed Diamond Head on tour in Britain(1980) before he even met Mustaine. Mustaine may have been a Diamond Head fan, but the first band he always mentions is Angel Witch as influence.

i love and respect Diamond Head so much because without them there would be no Metallica. This is cuz Lars put an ad for a guitarist who wanted to do Diamond Head covers. So without Diamond Head that would have never happened, and hence no Metallica. I didn't know Diamond Head until I started listening to Metallica, and now they are one of my favorite bands!!!!

My understanding is that when metallica first started "covering" diamond head songs, they only said it was a cover if someone asked (at their shows). I remember reading a quote from James more or less saying this. Kill Em All is basically one big Diamond Head ripoff...

yeah essentially metallica was a big ripoff before burton. burton really made them go big and then they just continued on with mindless riffs with no real substance. the only musician of any substance in metallica is kirk hammett but his brilliance seems to get lost in the hetfield machine.

Eh, the rickenbacker was incredibly popular around this time (much more than today) and the only other thing that’s similar is his hair.. and we all know how popular long hair was back then. Cliff was an unreal musician.
