I was trying to refill my PMU pen last night at 2AM, so my heart was with you when I found your video. Have TWO needle-nosed tweezers and one pliers, and if you could do it, I have new heart to try again. You're my hero. Giving you a Purple Heart!

Alsoi, added one step to completely clean out old putty, used goo-gone and a pipe cleaner...worked great as a small cleaning brush.

Dear Brandy, I don't have one of these pens, but I know a little trick to improve tour grip when struggling with something like this. If you've ever had your blood drawn (and who hasn't, these days) ask the phlebotomist to let you keep that strip of rubber(?) they use use as a turnequet. Those things can help you open stubborn jars, grip things that are too slick to get a good handle on barehanded, pull a needle through thick cloth and a number of other things. I hope this helps.

Did you over fill the cap? I’d use a little less so you’re able to place the plunger back in & able to remove it again later on to refill it again. I tend to use the other tooled ends for weeding my circuit work & picking up beads plus other card work besides doing diamond painting. Maybe the sharp pointer would help in removing the left overs or a toothpick. I am pleased you showed the struggle of removing the plunger and finally succeeding in refilling your pen, I love these tools so it was good to learn I can refill it with a little patience. Thank you.

You can get these at hobby lobby or Joan fabrics and use a coupon and get it for 4 something

I know it's too late now, but when you refill it with the blue tac, you roll the blue tac into tiny little balls and drop out in the end and use the pointed end of the tool to push it down into the end of the cap not past the wider part where the plunger fits inside. I love it. You just keep the end of the cap cleaned completely off. and just add more when the tool won't pick up any more drills. I can go close to a week before having to add new so it's sticky again

This might be a old video but it was a goody and you made me laugh, because you're as clumsy as me and I adore diamond painting, plus I have never used that pen you were refilling or trying to refill again 😂. I got lucky and found myself 2 Elizabeth ward bead trays on clearance!! That's the only way I would ever buy them...yes they are very expensive

I just bought this tool so was interested in refilling it. I dont really see why you put so much effort into taking out (and wasting?) The old putty rather than just topping up with new Blu-tac? Handy to see how to refill it though. Thanks

you have it too full. try pulling the other end of the tool out it may help push the Pluger in . the clear end is a dual tool too.

Oh don't get me wrong, I would have done the same thing, but you had just got yourself with that other tool so I was holding my breath LOL. I was also going to tell you that if you ruined your Huacan tweezers I have several sets and would send you one. Then you said you had another pair. Your video was awesome and very entertaining, I needed that this morning, so thanks again!

The other end is for removing the tacky out of the pen ( the pointy end you didnt know what is was for ) =)

I know huh!? It was also partially due to turning off the AC, but still...I can't believe how difficult it was to put it back together. Of course now I can see so many different ways I would tackle it now.

The poster tack that I bought at Hobby Lobby and I"m sure it is for sale just about anywhere, is the exact same stuff that comes in the Pick Me Up Tool :)

I love the pink wax in mine. The grey stuff it comes with is terrible to get off your canvas if it gets on it. You only need a small amount when refilling the pen. I did the same thing you did and put too much in.

At least now we both know that we only need a small amount to refill it :D And I really don't mind any of the pen things...wax, blue tack, white/grey tack. I usually just grab whatever is nearest me, haha!

I was shown a good tip if you take the end of the pink pens you get in the dimond painting kits and put it in the end of your pick me up pen, you get a better end for Dimond painting. I filled my pen, but I just added to it did not dig it out.

I need to refill my pen today. Weirdly I find it good with square drills, but then I hardly do any rounds so maybe if I tried that it would be even better lol. I’m ordering a Quick Stik too now I’ve found a U.K. website that sells them. PS I got my shapes template in the post while I was away. Yay for label making later today!

1) I was going to do a video like this - I'm secretly glad you did one - hehe so we could struggle with you rather than with me, but I will tell you from now on it will be easier to open. 2) The Quick Stix is amazing - its the one I have and has a more narrow point to work easier on square. 3) I hear you on the "dirty" clean comments. My soccer mom friends keep a record of dirty things I say on the sidelines, lol - example (get it up - when talking about kicking ball up the field). I get so embarrassed. Glad I'm not alone.

You should still do the video! You might have people that I don't plus you will have learned from me on what NOT to do, lol! I have heard the Quik Stik is really good so I will get it for sure. I love all the pens and want them all! And I get embarrassed about those types of comments too...more so when I get called out on them from my friends with dirty minds...I turn beet red...

I don't recommend using the tac for Crystal rhinestone diamond paintings. It never wants to let them go. The pink wax works way better. Again just for the Crystal rhinestone ones.

Make sure when you put plug back in not to go all the way in. Mine was 1/2 way out. Only put it back in 1/2 way. Why remove the old, just refill and use it up.

Both pens are identical just a different label. mines made by 'we R memory keepers', other than that there is no difference at all. save you money. it's all good . PS thanks for showing me how to take it apart. mine was not pushed in as much as yours so it was easy for me to take it out .

they are different - the point is more narrow...but that is my opinion :) Not saying someone should buy both, but there are slight differences.

I bought one of these today at Michael's for $6.99. I couldn't wait to use it but I am disappointed. It's a lot bulkier than I expected and I really don't like the tacky stuff. The screw part keeps loosening and that part is uncomfortable. Maybe it takes some getting used to but the free drill pen that comes with the kits works better than this thing.

I did refill with the wax too mine apart just have to pull on it realy hard to get that piece of plastic out I just wish it would stay tight it keeps kissing up on me I have ordered some wax pencils from Amazon.

Do you really need to remove the stuff? Can't you just add the new blue tack to it? Also maybe to remove that plug part you could try using something to push it out via the tip? Just an idea :)

Elizabeth Ward type storage at AC Moore buy with a coupon. Or Walmart $19.97. I got mine at Walmart in the store. They don't often have them. I must have been lucky. After buying it I saw all the posts about them.
