So helpful! Thank you! I actually originally had a warmer color in my wedding ring, a vintage style halo, then when the setting had to be re-done I had a Colorless put in. Long story short, ended up going back to the warmer color. It fit the style of the thing better. Took me time to realize exactly what you said. Color alone doesn’t represent beauty. In my case I thought the Colorless actually just looked out of place in the setting. Thanks again. Great video.

You're welcome. Also, if you're buying a diamond online, keep in mind that we should be able to beat anyone's prices and often have access to the same exact diamond you see elsewhere. A quick email to sales@goodoldgold along with the link of the diamond you're viewing often saves customers hundreds of dollars on that same exact diamond!

I love the colorless or near colorless diamonds and always thought if I won the lottery, I'd get one, but, up until now, whenever I saw the K-M colored stones, didn't think much of them. I knew I wouldn't want one, but, now that I'm looking at the three you just showed against the white background, I can't believe how lovely they are. I like to be different, and those diamonds you are showing are definitely different, even the N & O face up were absolutely stunning and I would take them LOL! Thank you again for your videos. Learn so much from you.

This was so helpful. I’m waiting for my engagement ring to be made..and really wanted a higher grade color but the cost jumped up significantly for the carat size. My choice came down between a 2.51 vvs 1 H (bigger spread 1.43) & 2.8 vvs1 J- I chose the 2.5 because the very slightly warm tone the J gave me would bug me in the long run. Hopefully I chose right, but this video was very helpful!

Hi grog, Moisannite happen to be very dispersize gem stones. Bear in mind they don't have the strength or durability of diamond but this is also reflected in the cost as well.
@nikkil764
@nikkil764 Жыл бұрын
Be careful with moisannite and anything oily like hand creams, salad dressing, etc. It will ruin the sparkle of the stone. Moisannite is porous and will soak up the oil with a permanent affect.

Once you’ve seen a great D stone, nothing else will do.
@dayangmarikit6860
@dayangmarikit6860 2 жыл бұрын
I don't disagree with you, but I saw a particular D graded diamond that had positive/good fluorescence, which means that it didn't give the diamond a milky, cloudy or hazy effect... what the fluorescence did was add a bright white glow to the diamond. The other D graded diamond next to it that didn't have fluorescence looked a bit dull in comparison. Unfortunately the effects of fluorescence in white diamonds is unpredictable, it could make it or break it, it's basically a case to case basis. Fluorescence could either be positive, which means that it compliments and enhances the look of the stone, or it could also be negative which means that it compromises the beauty of the stone by making it look milky, hazy or cloudy, especially in direct sunlight.
@kgan4733

@dayangmarikit6860
@dayangmarikit6860 Жыл бұрын
@@kgan4733 Based on what I've read, it's not fluorescence but rather a sign that the stone has an excellent cut, because it perfectly reflects the blue sky, kind of like how the ocean turns blue when it reflects the sky.

@@dayangmarikit6860 It could be part of it. Later I returned that one and ordered a new diamond about the same cutting but no flourescence. It shows slightly blue under the sunlight. Based on the difference, I think flourescence still plays a role in the blue reflection. I just can't believe faint flourescence can show such strong blue. I can't imagine what will happen if a diamond has strong flourescence 😅

Funny how beauty is relative. I've never been attracted to pure white stones. They're beautiful don't get me wrong, personally Ive always thought they resembled cubic zirconia. @adiazde2 Thanks for your kind words. In answer to your question fluoroescence is generally not an issue, particularly when it fluoroesces blue. Rarely will it cause negative effects. Colors other than blue like yellow is another story though. If you are not purchasing through us then I would highly suggest comparing it to another diamond with no fluoroescence (or even blue) side by side in sunlight or natural daylight which emits long wave UV to allow you to see the differences.

I had no clue about these dimond properties. Over a decade ago, when I got engaged to my husband we went dimond shopping for an engagement ring. Most regular jewelry stores did not carry D or E or even F diamonds. I remember my husband making all the questions about price difference. I got an I color and it’s so beautiful. Later we updated to a bigger size but still I color. Usually H color is the highest they will manage to get according to the sales manager at our city.

When it comes to H&A diamonds I generally prefer photographic evidence as there are many companies now advertising it and under examination turn out not to be. But in way of 57 faceted diamonds genuine Hearts & Arrows diamonds are among the best out there. There are other round diamond that others deem equally if not more beautiful as well that are also cut for high optics. Among them are the Solasfera, The August Vintage Old European Cut, the Eighternity & the Star129. Search on my channel

Good morning, I went inside the mall to look at engagement rings. I’m not an expert when it comes to diamonds but I seen a white gold pear shape ring and it has a little bit of rainbow colors to it under the jewelry store light. I see a mostly blue color. Does that mean the diamonds are fake???

If the diamond emits rainbow colors, it could be real. Like crystals, the sparkle in a diamond can show all of the colors of a rainbow depending on the lighting environment they are placed under. However there are other types of stones that can replicate this effect as well. So they are possibility real diamonds, but I'd need more information to know for sure.

... worse value and yes ... in times even better value. Thing is ... it is not a cheap process to hunt down what are the actual values amongst EGL graded diamonds and the better values I would say are among the minority in EGL graded diamonds. Clarity enhancement: I have a couple of videos on this subject that you can search for on our channel where I go into greater depth but in short clarity enhancement can be fine if you are looking to maximize the size of the diamond but it must be ...

I have a question for you, I am having a custom pendant made and the diamonds are rows of the micro diamonds... i have a good price for SI 1 I color, they wanted to go with SI 1 H color, but of course its a bit more money. With the diamonds being so small is the difference in H and I color worth the extra money? Set in yellow gold.

Thanks for your feedback! It does sometimes seem like the visual difference between certain colors are often wider than others. For example, many of our customers notice the difference between I-J colored diamond more than G-H colored diamonds. It's not always the case, but seems like a trend.

I am interested in a diamond with a warmth to it but i don't want it to be canary or bright yellow, I love the colors J to M, how much do you think a 1 carat round or princess cut would cost with a clarity no lower than SI2?? By the way, Love your videos, thank you for the info... very very helpful

The pale champagne hews dosent detract from the stone as long as the clarity and cut is good , I don't think! It's very subtle .

what do you think of an EGL rating? i know about them being much less conservative in their ratings, but is it really something I should stay away from? also, how do you feel about the long-term affect of clarity enhancement? having very limited knowledge on stones all I have heard is that it makes the stone look much better but also is quite risky in the future for durability and possible color change in the filler. could you shed some light on those issues please? thanks a lot

excuse me sir please,can you stain a diamond whit a sandpaper meaning:a diamond cannot be scratched but if scratched too hard whit corundum can cause the diamond to become dirty,by the streak of the corundum or sandpaper.

Is IGI looked “down upon”? I never hear it mentioned as a legit inspection/rating source.
@DiamondInfoMan
@DiamondInfoMan 2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. Although IGI doesn't have the reputation that GIA has, from my understanding, IGI has been the main laboratory where suppliers are sending their lab grown diamonds to be certified and from our experience, IGI is pretty on par for the most part. We at Good Old Gold can send a diamond to GIA for a second opinion if you have any concerns on a diamond you might be considering. If so, there's even a good chance we have access to that same diamond and can offer it to you for less than the listed price. So if you'd like our assistance, feel free to contact sales@goodoldgold.com as we'd be happy to assist and do our best to save you $$..

I ordered a diamond ring which is J grade with excellent setting. Will it be sparkle well? I am worrying if it will be too yellow.
@DiamondInfoMan
@DiamondInfoMan Жыл бұрын
The color in a "J" colored diamond shouldn't prevent the diamond from sparking. Sparkle usually has more to do with the "cut quality". You could have a D - IF, but if the cut is not great and there is significant light leakage, it's brilliance will be lackluster. Although many might assume otherwise, this often occurs in diamonds that are graded GIA Triple Excellent graded (as demonstrated in this video) - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eM2hl8WUpqyRh5c.html . Hopefully, the diamond you ordered is stunning. But if you end up being disappointed, feel free to contact sales@goodoldgold.com and we'll be happy to source you a super brilliant diamond for a very completive price!
