I feel that you are mistaken about the dancers appearing to be more important to the production than Diana's effort. In my opinion the dancers are seen to be reacting to Diana's voice and rhythm rather than the other way round or even with Diana. So in a way it is like saying that an army like Napoleon's is more important than the emperor leading it, just because it is bigger and more visible. Diana by her voice and melody is carrying the dancers efforts to an even more spectacular visual show, and which in turn make Diana's visual and voice impact ever more stunning.
