Diana, Princess of Wales highlighted the problem of Britain's homeless, during a speech at the charity Centre Point in London. The former wife of Prince Charles and the mother of Britain's future King said children as young as eleven years old sought help from the London-based charity which provides refuge for the homeless. Since her divorce earlier this year, Diana announced that she was cutting down the number of charities she was involved with, but she continues to support Centre Point as well as five others.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, may I begin by saying how much I appreciate having this brief opportunity to share in the occasion of Centre Point's annual meeting."

"If an Englishman's home is his castle, then what happens to that Englishman if he has no home? And if that Englishman is young, perhaps mid teens, or early twenties what greater risks will confront him. These are the questions which Centre Point broadly faces each day of the year. And it's doing a tremendous job in helping us to understand the real extent and nature of Britain's homeless population."

"The age of homeless youngsters is coming down. Children as young as 11 have called on Centre Point this year. Some have been running from physical and emotional violence, some from sexual abuse. In each case, Centre Point was involved in housing and then redirecting such people."
