Following the Fever's 88-82 win over the Phoenix Mercury in front of a sellout (17,071) crowd, future Hall of Famer Diana Taurasi spoke about the impact and influence Caitlin Clark has had in just a few months in the WNBA.
Then, Natasha Cloud says "this is the most evenly matched that the league has been. In my first few years, you used to be able to walk into certain games and be like, 'we literally just have to lace up and we're gonna be good.' That's not the case anymore. That's the growth of the our game."

When you and everyone on the team works, you'll see how it pays off, later in the season. Just keep working at it. And, during the game, Taurasi and Caitlin had good words, again. With smiles from Caitlin. That must have made her first year feel great. And valued by the vets. I think it will be really difficult for other teams to beat our Olympic team. Respect to DT to props to CC, even more so on a loss at home. I truly believe it’s these types of truths, positivity to each other from these vets/ coaches and fans to give this dream in the WNBA to become reality. It subconsciously gives everyone in the league and fans watching to do better to be better in giving respect to those that have been here through so tough times, showing grace and respect to each other does nothing but allow us to realize the could be for the WNBA. This is the first day as a new fan I’m pleased in what I see as a whole, and those involved out there on the court deserve to play in this type of atmosphere.

DT is the all time leading scorer of all time in this league. She’s won 3 championships in this league. She’s won 5 gold medals for the US. She won 3 chips in college and was POY x3. She’s earned the right to be cocky. She couldn’t even tell the truth about the pros being more difficult than college w/o you delusional, casual band wagon ass ppl whining and crying your eyes out. You want respect from the vets? Earn it by winning.

4/6/24: “Reality is coming,” Taurasi said. You look superhuman playing against some 18-year-olds, but you’re going to come play with some grown women who have been playing professional basketball for a long time.” 6/30/24: Fever 88, Mercury 82. CC: 15 pts, 9 reb, 12 asst. Taurasi: 19-3-3.

Now do the stats from Indiana’s NY Liberty game. Or the Connecticut Sun game. Or the LV Aces game. The Seattle game. Reality has already come and CC’s “fans” have whined and moaned and had the state rep pen a letter to the league. Not to mention that when it’s clutch time and time to get a stop to win the game, the coach is still having to sit the rookie down because she’s a defensive liability. You “fans” are DELULU. CC will be great but DT told no lies.

Finally, someone talking good sense. We don't wanna see players all praising Caitlin but the non-sense thrown at her are just a turnoff for me. If WNBA and their players put more respect to her game than the "other stuffs" they spew, this league becomes more interesting to watch. We want basketball, not the other stuffs.

She’s been winning in this league for 20 years. She doesn’t have to change her tune. She didn’t lie about the fact that the W is tougher than college. Reality has come this season in the form of the Connecticut Sun, the LV Aces, the NY Liberty, and the Seattle Storm.

She speaks really good spanish!! And her compliments in spanish were even better, she called her a phenomenon and a "crack" which is a word we use in football soccer to say someone is a baller or an unreal player, and she also praised what she has done for the sport and said she was really proud of her 🥲. This was so nice of her, really kind words.

I only watch Fever games. To be honest no one is in any large numbers are watching any of these other teams play, unless they are playing the Fever. It will take a couple more years of the next few rookie classes to come into the WNBA and actually make the other teams watchable and fun to watch. But for all the other WNBA teams they don't get the crowds that the Fever get. they wlll just have to stay positive and keep on trucking. In IMHO Dianna is just stating facts as they are for now. The league exe's can still blow this opportunity to turn the WNBA into something not worth watching, even with Clark in the league. Only time will tell if this is a flash in the pan or a real WNBA glory days around the corner.

DT is a class act. I didn't know too much about this league before I followed Clark to it. Hearing what DT said earlier, made me think she was arrogant. Now I see she's just super competitive, but also super respectful of talented players. When DT bows out, she would make an excellent coach for a lucky WNBA team, maybe the Fever. I personally think a replacement might be necessary for them to reach their full potential. Come on DT, go coach the Fever!

Caitlin spoke highly of her. Good to see she and Griner returned the favor. That's what people were looking for in the vets - a warm, welcoming and gracious attitude towards Clark. I think the league is realizing this. The vets have to be gracious and humble enough to embrace their rookies, most esp. Clark. Those nice friendly moments with Clark should go viral and unforgotten. Kudos to Diana and Phoenix for a good game. No shame in that loss, but happy for the Fever win.
