@@key1853 But she does have a reason. Isabella has been forced into a particular mold, where failure and being anything but perfect every moment of her life is never acceptable. Mirabel meanwhile is allowed to fail. She is allowed to make mistakes, to find a way to be herself. Isabella can't even wear the clothing she wants. The mold means she knows nothing about herself as a person, only the persona she has had to put on. She is jealous of Mirabel.

I don’t hate her, but I get annoyed that people think what she was going through or this song seems to automatically excuse her of everything. She was downright nasty to Mirabel and blamed Mirabel for a lot of things, using her as a punching bag. I don’t care what she was going through, she had no reason to be that rude. Sure, I can understand why, but it doesn’t change that it should have never happened in the first place. She’s very lucky that Mirabel is so forgiving and supportive without even really getting an apology.

It’s probably because almost the entire upcoming generation suffers from depression and other mental illnesses.

Recent? Disney movies have always leaned that way. Cinderella was abused and mistreated, Mulan could not be herself without dishonoring her family, Belle develops Stockholm syndrome, Ariel wants a totally different life and Jasmine was bordering on depressed. People are just talking about and analyzing the recent ones more openly.

@@wendillon92 yes and no. Those are sad. But not really mental health issue. Cinderella maybe abused. But she still have her animal friends and has her own way of over coming issues. It hasn’t gotten to the point of becoming a detriment to herself. Mulan was more so a reflection of the Chinese family culture of expecting their kids to be successful, and kid wanting to live up to it. Her issue was more of an identity crisis. And ultimately came to the conclusion that she don’t need to follow the gender norm. (If anything, she maybe a good bi/tran representation) Belle’s Stockholm syndrome is a thing. But that was just part of the story, not something Disney created. Ariel, once again source material. But more importantly. It is not a mental illness. Since she made no secret of her desires. And down right made a deal with the devil to get her way. Jasmine, she was fine.She wasn’t suffering from depression. She was just sad about her lack of say in her own path One thing I think people *need* to understand is. Sadness is not mental illness. Set back isn’t either. And trial and tribulation also isn’t. Mental illness isn’t just about facing a big problem. It is far more nuanced. Here is what each scenario would had look like had they actually place a problem with the character. Cinderella would had either just given up on ever trying to go to the dance, or worst, off herself long before the point of the story. Mulan wouldn’t had try to join the army. She would had play her part, while still resenting herself for never being happy for having a man who willing to fight for her. Ariel would had hide her obsession, building lies upon lies to cover for herself until finally having to go to ursala not to become human. But to simply either continue her lie, or fix the fall out after being exposed. Jasmine wouldn’t had got out of the castle in the first place. Slowly come to terms of her fate, while still resenting it. And ultimately be married off to who ever her father think is right for her.

This song is honestly really good and has clever song writing, but all the other songs are just so amazing it's easy to forget this one. It's hard to compete with we don't talk about bruno and surface pressure. I like the rock and roll vibe this song gives off though.
