Eventhough I've watched Encanto countless of times, and Antonios whisper "We made this one for you" still makes me tear up.

I love how he is crying about the doorknob even without knowing the meaning behind it. That's how great this song is and how great this movie is.

The movie is so special to so many people because of plenty of messages. Particularly in this song, it's difficult not to be moved by the fact that the community came to the family's help when they most needed it, and also by the fact that the family came to support and recognize Mirabel's dedication to them by giving her the doorknob of the main door of Casita. It's like a promise that community and family are the answer to our current loneliness in this supposedly connected world.

If you notice, after Casita collapses and the candle is extinguished, once the home is rebuilt and Mirabel gets her door knob, that causes the house to come alive again. But there is no longer a candle in the window. Why? Because Mirabel IS the CANDLE! That is her gift. She becomes the magical candle 🕯

Very impressed with your ability to discern the emotional core of the film just from watching the songs - you have a very good read of what it's about. My favorite part about this song is that Mirabel starts with singing with the same melody from "The Family Madrigal" but, slightly changing the lyrics.

I have watched this movie maybe 50 times now and every time Antonio says "we made this one for you" I lose it because one big thing in the beginning that's not in a song is that she doesn't have her own room but lives in the nursery because she never got a gift/room of her own. He tells her he wishes she could have a door. so the fact that he gives her the doorknob to the whole house is just very emotional. The fact that this song got to you without that context is even more telling about how good these songs are. Hope you've had a chance to watch it and appreciate the whole emotional storyline!

This is one of the songs I replay quite a bit, love the emotional hits it takes. Just in case you missed the callback in the song, at the beginning Mirabel sings about them being stars, but warning that stars burn. Then when we get to the last part we have her family singing "We see how bright you burn" essentially calling her another of the stars.

No matter how many times I see this last part when they all huddle around Mirabel ans start telling her how brave she's been. It touches me to my core. It's just beautiful.

This is my favorite Disney movie of all!! I have watched it 5 times, and I see new things each time. It's perfect. The music captured my attention first, but it's the story of their family that kept me coming back.

Wao, when you get to see the movie!!! I always cry at that part when she get the door knob, this movie is so special to be honest I seen it over 30 times and still cry!!!

When I saw the movie; I related to so much. You see; the movie is basically about generational trama, my Native American family unfortunately has a lot of that. So our family is a mess. I help with the animals, grandparents, my half much younger brother (practically raised him), clean, listen to everyone hate on each other and defuse issues, etc. Quick facts about me: I have Asperger's (High Functioning Autism), ADHD, OCD, general anxiety, severe anxiety, social anxiety, Introverted, Depression, CPTSD, Dyslexia, deformed back muscles (had Scoliosis), undiagnosed joint pain issues, Hypersensitivity, undiagnosed skin issues, Asthma, dandruff, etc. So.....For me I related because I'm expected to do a lot and have a normal life.....except I have many mental and physical disabilities. So they expect me to do certain things, look a certain way, or act a certain way and when I fail they get upset. I try my absolute best but it's never good enough. I don't fit in, I'm not as good, and at the same time have so much responsibilities on my shoulders. So I related to both Mirabelle, Bruno, Luisa, Pepa, and kinda Isabela. Lacking what others have(Mirabelle), seen as a outcast troublemaker failure (Bruno), having to carry so much family burden and not fail(Luisa), having issues often out of your control that are having to be suppressed (Pepa), and having to try to be the perfect child/grandchild(Isabela). It's hard. So yeah....I cried like a baby during the movie, and that's okay. I've been working on being more myself and accepting my flaws as me...all of me...and just let it be. No longer will I fake smile hiding my depression, no longer will I mask my Autism, no longer will I let people push me to the point I can no longer move(back& joint issues), no longer will I let negative comments get to me, I will take breaks when needed....I will be me and accept me even if my family can't. Maybe one day they too can accept all of me. I've learned to accept compliments too. I was once told by a therapist that I was smart and wise....I broke down in tears...I was never told that before and took me years to realize I WAS smart AND wise. I wanted to share this to hopefully encourage others to accept themselves and believe in themselves. Don't listen to the hate and negativity. Be you; because YOU are awesome, and don't let anyone make you believe you otherwise.

ok so I JUST conected the dots... in the first seconds of the movie abuela says "abre los ojos, open your eyes" then maribel sees the candle(the miracle) and at the end when she says "abre los ojos" again she ask "what do you see" as to imply she is the "new" miracle OMG idk if I'm right but I want to believe I'm lol

Mirabel was the one who didn't get a gift. she finds out that she is the one who is the embodiment of the "gift". She is the "living hope" of the family to see that they are more than just their "gifts". It is a beautiful message that we are all worth more than just what we can do for others. We are special simply because we are.

I love how the part "stars dont shine they burn" gives a nod to astronomy, because stars really are burning gasses. The shining is just a by-product of the burning process. Brilliant lyrics.

I really loved this movie and every single song in it! As well as your reaction and break down of everything. One thing I loved, but didn't notice the first time watching it through, was Antonio leading Mirabel to the door, like the opposite way at the beginning. If you haven't seen the movie yet, you'll see what I mean. Just a small little thing that I loved.

This movie moves Colombians, because one of the most emotional scenes in the film reminds us of the displacement and violence that many of us experience as a result of the wars between guerrillas, paramilitaries, drug traffickers and the government. It reminds us of how many of our families lost one of their pillars (Dad) and how Mom had to rebuild her family from the ashes after losing everything. Our grandmothers and mothers are heroines for Colombians, they gave everything to rebuild their families, and our country. That is why the role of the grandmother in this film is important because thanks to all her sacrifices to her great strength, our house is being rebuilt, our beautiful home Colombia.

I watch this movie every single Flippin night and if I make it to "All of You" before I drift off, I cry and sob like a baby when she gets the doorknob ♡♡♡

The house gives gifts to each child, and the child gets it by getting a magic door with a magic room. That door grants the gift when they come of age and touch the knob. When Mirabel did this, the door instead of materializing with a gift, disappeared. They didn't understand why but that's because she's the next abuela. She's the standard bearer for the family just like Abuela doesn't have a gift, she doesn't either. Earlier in the movie she walked Antonio to his door. So here, she gets to but the knob on the whole house and Antonio walks her to her real door: the whole house, because she's the up coming matriarch when Abuela passes away. There's a lot of chiasms here. Grandma says "open your eyes, abre los ojos" just as before in the beginning she said the same when she led her to her door and it disappeared. And midway through during "waiting on a miracle" she sings to abuela "open your eyes".

I've seen the film multiple times, listened to the songs on repeat for months, and this god damn song still brings me to tears every single time 😭 such a beautiful song, a beautiful film and beautiful message

I've seen people reacting to movies with the video blurred out for the majority of it (or, sometimes, all of it) popping it back to visible for certain clips.
