Diana i caught covid not long after finishing chemo, long story short i ended up in ICU and was placed in a coma for 3 months while a machine ran my heart, lungs and kidneys, i wasnt expected to make it on multiple occasions but eventually pulled through and was awakened from my coma. i lost all my muscles and had to learn to walk and everything again but i kept pushing and kept fighting and today im almost 100% again. You don't "beat" CFS, you learn to live with it. And sometimes you have a good day.
@meatybtz
@meatybtz 4 ай бұрын
@@kinpandun2464 This, as someone living with it for over 10 years now. You have good days and bad days and there is almost nothing that anyone can do about it. Often there is no external or easily identifiable reason for a day being good or bad. They have made some progress in understanding CFS but CFS is not just one thing so, for some they can help. Recently there have been studies that show that most people with CFS have high antibody count for one of a narrow band of lifetime viruses. In my case I constantly show like I am about to have a shingles outbreak, but I don't. This "but I don't" is common throughout those with high anitbody counts for specific viruses and CFS. We never exhibit symptoms. However we have very strange problem of muscle loss, cognitive failure, often a burning pain in the body/muscles (non-specific) that regular pain killers cannot mediate. I for one test as having a neurotransmitter level as though I've been awake for 50-72hours. Just that never goes away. I am in a constant state of function like someone who has been up for more than two days or three. Anyways, the viral marker, when people were treated with antiviral drugs and the counts dropped the CFS symptoms would go away.. but eventually would return and so too would the antibody count. They don't know why or what triggers it. But it's a start. In my case the treatment worked (took about 3 months to take effect) then about 7 months later, it just came back. So we can "manage" it, but it won't go away, probably never. It's pretty much stolen my life. When it acts up it takes 3 months to get better even on the medication, then I can be assured that something will trigger it again and it will return. It hangs like a shadow over those windows of normalcy.

I knew it would happen because they didnt adhere to any of the pacing requests i made. I'm in so much pain right now and it makes me angry to know it didn't have to be like this. I'm on a leave again as of today. I feel so much for Diana and I hope she can find her new normal. It sounds like her CFS is extreme right now. I had ME/CFS after covid. It hit 10 months post illness out of nowhere. I was terrified, confused, lost. Couldnt walk or stand, or talk. It was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Doctors couldnt help me and said it was anxiety. It wasnt. I went digging, found out REST, strict BED REST, was the only way to heal with brain retraining also. I did both and healed in 5months. It was so hard. But im back to normal 2 years later. I would have never made it without my husband. He took total care of me. ❤

I've had ME/CFS for 6 years now. It's a bizarre, lonely, ruthless illness. Having people in your life who embrace, understand (as much as it's possible to) and support you through it is THE most significant thing. I have always believed that despite my suffering and severe limitations, my parents (my incredible amazing wonderful number one supporters) have it SO much harder. Not only in the practical aspects of caregiving, but the emotional pain of watching someone you love be chained down and crushed by illness. I cannot bear to imagine. And so I express infinite gratitude to all the loving caregivers out there ❤️❤️❤️ You are absolute champions and you make ALL the difference. You make life a million times more worth living. But please never forget the first person you need to care for is you

That’s nice that you have a good support system, but to say that caregivers have it much worse than the patients themselves? I would have to strongly disagree. I have been ill since I was 14 and this illness has robbed me of everything - career, friendships, relationships, essentially everything there is to do in life. A decade of illness and it has only progressed because of the terrible advice medical professionals and people in general give (to just push yourself harder to “get well” and to exercise!) yeah my family doesn’t have to experience the pains of post exertional malaise nor do they have to sit in bed all day, practically paralyzed because if you do anything you’ll just get sicker

I don't know you, but I wish you well. I hope you find complete relief while you still have a strong support system and it brings you and your family joy. I'm just a stranger, but I hope I can suggest you spend as much idle time as you can researching all sides of your condition, even outside the Western system. I used to be a nurse, I got out because I felt like there are too many gaps in knowledge with the US system of healthcare and sometimes researching all pathways to recovery can yield better results. Also look up phage therapy. Idk if that is something that can help you. Phages are not a well understood field of study as it's mostly practiced in Eastern Europe. However when modern medicine doesn't work, phages can sometimes do the trick. If you can research and figure it out, you may be able to help others like you. Good luck

Thank you for the update. Diana’s journey sounds like she heading in the right direction. I ’ve had CFS/ME for years but can now do more than most people who don’t even have it, so long as I pace myself. The first two years seemed to be the least productive, with the crashes, but slowly with walks of 5m then, 10m then, then 100m and so on, I’ve found the old me again. Brain fog is hard to deal with but I really believe relieving yourself of unnecessary guilt (after all you didn’t choose your health so there no need to feel you let anyone down) is important. Her partner sounds like an angel. I was let down and left to get on with it, accused of faking it by my partner (yes, unbelievable, but this was 30 years ago when people didn’t know much, I hope we’re all more educated now). I do wonder on the merits of gut health and wish I’d tried something in that direction back then, but you clutch at every straw and results are never instant so it’s hard to measure. Anyway, I’m following Dianna’s journey and willing her better. I think about her often and check for information when it becomes available.

Destin, I’m so sorry to hear this. I was diagnosed with Long Covid in May 2023 and had very similar symptoms. I was told by my neurologist it could take 2-3 years to feel “normal.” I was not ok with that. I was part of a long covid clinic and was told to try speech/cognitive therapy which helped me to live life in 15 minute increments and rest so I would not get to the point where I was pushing through physical symptoms. I ignored anyone who told me to do physical activity to prevent deconditioning because physical activity made things worse. In July 2023 out of desperation I tried acupuncture. After two treatments I had a symptom free day (on which I did too much and then crashed for days). Since then I’ve steadily seen a reduction of my symptoms. I have gone twice weekly since I started in mid July. Just last week I graduated to once weekly. At the end of January 2024 my neurologist (who is part of a long covid clinic at U Penn) said I am recovering the fastest of all patients who are part of their LC clinic. The major downside is acupuncture is expensive and not covered by insurance because it’s not a known cure. However, I can attest to the fact that it has given me my life back. I am writing this hoping you or Deanna might see this and maybe pursue acupuncture as an option. I had never had it before and did it out of desperation and it seems to have worked. I have not been asked by any acupuncturist to promote their services. This is just me seeing someone suffering and hoping my experience might help. I wish you all the best.

Firstly, this is so, so kind of you. I'm glad that some altruism can also provide some personal comfort. Second, for anyone else considering donating, I want to echo the sentiment of another user (@green4black) to point out that a higher percentage of your contribution will help Dianna if you donate on GoFundMe or Patreon. This is nothing personal against Google, but their cut is substantially higher (30%). It's a different platform for a different purpose, so it aligns its margins closer to Twitch. GoFundMe takes a 2.9% cut and Patreon takes a 5% cut. Just an FYI! (One last note: for charitable fundraisers on KZfaq, Google does not take a cut at all. However, donating on this video will not be counted as a charitable donation.)

This video touches my heart. I was bound to my bed for four months last year and not one of my friends visited to check in on me. The only people who were worried about me and and came for a visit were friends of my parents who knew about my situation. I was so stuck in my situation, I wished so much to have someone who I could at least talk to and share my thoughts with regularly. It's such a comfort to know there are friends and caregivers out there who see that.

The part where she needed to take a break from talking...man, you don't know how real that is unless you've been there. I went through a period of nearly 15 years of excruciating pain. I lost everything and my parents were caring for me. There wasn't a single thing I could do by myself, yet my body and my mind were working in overdrive harder than they ever had. My parents were my biggest blessing and they showed me an example of true love that I could have never envisioned. Eventually, I got better and at the age of 40, I went back to college to get my Mechanical Engineering degree. Yesterday, I found out that I was accepted into the Upper Division and in two more years, I will have my bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Hang in there Diana, take the first downs when you can and keep driving. And for Kyle, what a true warrior. He's going through it too and needs as much support. Let's help this wonderful couple out so they can focus on what they need to do.

I tore my left sacroilliac joint when I was a firefighter. It's one of the two joints that connects your spine to your pelvis. If you follow your spine down to your belt line, they are about 1" on either side. It was excrucitating. All I could do is lay in bed because sitting, standing and walking was so painful. I had surgery a few times but in the end what fixed it was a simple nerve ablation that my doc didn't think would work. From the time I went into the hospital until the time I was back in the parking lot leaving was under 30 minutes, and 3 weeks later I went backpacking by myself. That was the summer I turned 40, so once realized I was actually okay, I decided to do a mile for every year old I was to get my confidence back and to do something for myself. Of the 42.5 miles I ended up doing, 31 of them were all by myself. I went back to college 7 months after that procedure and now we are here, almost 2 years from the day that I started back. I just realized something ironic that relates to Diana....the first class I had once I was back was good ol' college physics. Now I'm a tutor for that class. Wow. This is bringing back some memories and emotions for me right now! I sure hope we see Diana make a similar recovery and that it doesn't take 13 years like it did for me. @@danielkelsosmith

Thanks for sharing, Destin - I can feel your sisterly love for Dianna. I’m so glad you could visit her, give her sound advice, and do what you can to support her. I love what you do on your channel, and I’m more impressed by you as a human being the more I find out about you. May the Lord Bless you and keep you.
