Do you still remember the text of “Drawing the Star Fruit” we learned in primary school? Its unique shape is really impressive. The star fruit growing on the plateau of Yunnan has enough moisture and is juicy and sweet. The fine flesh without dregs is super refreshing. Generally we use it to make salad. We can also use its sour juice to make some delicious dishes.

You made me remember my grandfather. During the summer he would go to the mountains with my cousins to hunt. And when they weren’t hunting, they were foraging. He always brought home star fruits, mangoes, rambutan and sugar canes. He passed in 2021 and I miss him. My cousins want to continue their tradition to keep grandfather’s memory alive

I grew up climbing the tree to play,, to eat some fruits, to reflect, to see the world behind the walls from my house and, at the same time, to hide from everything. This tree is sacred to me, it's the bond with those happy days I had climbing it and feeling embarrassed by its branches, fruits, flowers and leafs.

When very ripe and deep yellow, it is soft in texture and sweet. I like mine only slightly ripe, a little sour but texture better.

I always enjoy watching you cook and feed your family. And listening to you all chit chat about normal things around the table makes me(and others I'm sure)feel like we are at home with you. I bought some last time I went shopping and the flavors are a lot like morel mushrooms that are coming up right now in my part of the US. They are very good in everything I've tried them in.
