I like how during Rodrick Rules (the best of the trilogy in my opinion), Rodrick isn't afraid to act out, but then when he does, he still feels remorse for his mistakes and genuinely wanted to bond with Greg (over time he got over doing it for the Mom Bucks), but when Greg ratted him out and got them both in trouble (which this could be likened to a sacred pact being broken), he was hurt, because he thought his little brother actually wanted to hang with him, but once again, Greg was selfish.

Man I DESPISE the dad as a kid.
@sylvie_loves_frogs49512 жыл бұрын
and in the books you see that they're literally one argument away from a divorce, the dad has the biggest case of toxic masculinity i've ever seen, they always favor the younger kid even when he's a LITTLE BITCH, the mom is like,,,,,, she read all that genuinely good parenting advice and somehow made it bad. she let her boys do whatever they wanted but thought she magically birthed geniuses, she either punishes them too harshly or not at all, she's the textbook definition of toxic positivity, they're both so awful
@yukimura45742 жыл бұрын
@@sylvie_loves_frogs4951 What pisses me off the most is that we *know* from some anecdotes of Greg's childhood that they were stricter with Greg when he was at Manny's age, but for some reason Manny is more special to them and they allow him to be the little bitch he is

I feel like the sibling relationship in the movies were really realistic. Rodrick was mostly portrayed as the mean older brother, almost as a “bully” but honestly THATS just how siblings are. He isn’t actually mean or a bully, you can tell they love each other, but they just act like they don’t 😂 like all those family movies with the siblings who act so lovingly towards each other...yeah that’s never how I’ve experienced having siblings lmao. I feel like the ppl who criticize his character either have amazing siblings or none at all.

My brother and I never fight/tease each other but I’ve come to realize that’s super rare- so I love the realistic dynamic they have for these two
@rufiredup902 жыл бұрын
I feel like it’s a little bit unrealistic... I used to argue with my brother a lot but it wasn’t like this. No one was bullying anyone like making the other smell the armpits or farting in each other’s faces...He would snap and get irritated with me and I would snap back and huge argument would then ensue...Idk. We didn’t do gross things like this much. Maybe my siblings are different?
@Lyssa3Lynn2 жыл бұрын
@@rufiredup90 Well everyone's experience is different. Some people have siblings that they absolutely hate and don't talk to, some have really amazing siblings that they love a lot, and some have a relationship in the middle where they love each other but fight a lot. Just for me personally, and most people who I've talked to, the sibling relationship in the movie is realistic and relatable.

Okay in hindsight this movie was more about the character development of the brother and that he's actually quite nice and awesome 🥺It's cute how their relationship grows and develops. Idk why it always felt like he made the brother seem like a devil which might have been how it would have been in his pov but still they both seem like good kids And now I realise why I liked the Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules the best.
