@@amanms1999 it don't bomb because of that it'll bomb because of the huge budget look at once upon a time in hollywood it was made on a 100 million and made more than 400 million but a 150 million movie with r rating is very difficult to pull the money because it's break even will be 375 million and it's r rating so it'll be difficult for the film and scorcese can reduce the budget I read the novel it doesn't requires 150-200 million to make with proper planning you can do the movie with 100-120 million

An actor couldn't be blamed for taking a $20 million dollar offer but only guys like Keanu Reeves will sign the contract if he can give half of it to the crew members who arent being paid enough

Maybe the cost is that much because they want to show the wealth of the Osage .Maybe even rebuild the towns to look like it did back than. Anyways I have read the book its a great story that needed to be told.

Well, at least with Paramount still being involved, at least this would actually guarantee a much wider release than The Irishman although I still find it ridiculous that Martin Scorsese would want a $200 million budget for a small scale drama like this but regardless, it's all Apple's money and it means nothing to them if they lose money although like any other company, no major company likes losing money either.

I think this is the reason why Scorsese went all out on marvel movies some time ago...because he thinks that those movies each cost over a 100 million and have zero issues in getting that kind of huge investment,while his movies are often rejected by the production companies.I would say it was more of his personal insecurity and grudge that the Irishman didn't get funding from any company other than Netflix and didn't get a theatrical release and I think this was the reason why he called them 'cinema invaders'.He was angry,he was frustrated and took it all out on marvel.What he forgets is that marvel movies are supposed to be about CGI and visual effects,that's their theme. So be ready,this thing is happening again...he again had trouble getting funding for his new movie and I expect him again to take out his frustration on comic book movies.Someone needs to tell him it's not the 70's or 80's anymore,the world has changed,youngsters today are really different and cinema has evolved.There's no way any person on this planet could see a 3hrs 30 min long movie in a theatre🙌 plus no one would give away that amount of budget for a 'drama' movie because they don't do so well at the box office,no matter how good they are,they don't draw much audience into the theatres.

I wonder if Apple sees this as having a prestige film with Oscar potential on its channel, so that's why you shell out the big bucks. It will bring them more subscribers, like HBO Max putting 60mill into the Snyder Cut.

Apple certainly had to pay a pretty penny to acquire Killers of the Flower Moon, which reportedly has a budget somewhere in the $200 million range. About one-fourth of that is due to Scorsese, DiCaprio, and De Niro's pay checks, which are approximately $20 million, $20 million, and $15 million, respectively.

He’s trustworthy as far as quality goes, but he’s not very commercial. Nolan for example, has made 10 movies so far and made 5 billion for WB, so they trust that if they give him 200 million on an original movie with no real details about what it is, he will still deliver. Scorsese is a legend, but he doesn’t bring in the big bucks.

In the Indian film industry whenever an established actor/actress wants to do a movie that doesnt have a huge budget they either reduce their acting fees or take up the movie production. For a movie thats going to be a huge hit they take the fees plus a margin. Dozens of actors do it y cant hollywood do it.

if i'm not mistaken, Scorcese's 1993 The age of Innocence, didn't make much money too, but it has great attention in Oscars. but, still, Law of free market; supply and demand, demand Leo, supply more Benjamin. (I'm not American, i just made up that last remark)

Does the salary for actors and actresses come from the movie budget? Or does it come from somewhere else?? Maybe that's why he needs a big budget. And let's not forget that Dicaprio and De Niro will be working together which is a dream come true for the fans of Scorsese movies. But I still believe that Scorsese is being a little arrogant and he doesn't want to understand that somethings are changing in the industry

I don’t get why you’re so upset about the budget and we all know the level of care that martin scorsese has for the quality and production of his films and making a period drama is actually pretty hard and it’s takes a lot of time and money. You do know that Leonardo Dicaprio probably costs nearly half of the original budget and that’s without talking about Robert Deniro.

I don't know why he hates the idea of a 150+ million dollar film by one of greatest directors of all time, meanwhile he supports every marvel and DC film which cost as much and are no way near cinema in the way that film will be. And as for the film making money, Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the only true movie stars left. Most of his films are financially successful, and in this day and age that is rare. He is a good investment -- and he only works with the best directors, not some unknown indie director who's being thrown into a huge movie and loses any kind of voice as they basically make an animated movie. There are exceptions, but for the most part the films in the MCU might as well have been directed by one person. Honestly, give Scorsese the budget he wants and if the film is good and people want to see it, it will make money.
