Yes, there is a way to sound like that. It's called "being Kevin". 😉 Dude's talent is just inhuman.

Oh, and bass dude is Avi. He was there until about 2017 when he felt he had to step away from the group because the travel schedule was just killing him, and he didn't want to be away from his family so much anymore. (It also didn't help that his mother was dying of cancer.) So in newer videos you'll see another bass guy, and that's Matt. He's really good, too, though I miss Avi. Something about his voice is just so resonant and whenever he sings, you can just feel it in your chest. Avi's got some solo work out there, though! Check out "Change on the Rise". Powerful stuff.
@dramac3333 жыл бұрын
Take a look at how fast Kevin's mouth is moving. That is the beatbox, but also the drums. He is flat out fantastic.
@JoSedunary3 жыл бұрын
It's all acapella - Avi does some of the sound effects to support Kevin (Beatboxer) - the contacts - Kevin wears glasses and couldn't wear them hence the visor. Avi's eyes were so red by the end they actually looked sore. Avi can actually hold a bassline whilst making the wind noises....he can also do overtones (2 notes at once)

Yes, Kevin is one of the most talented Beat-Boxers in the world, period. But also keep in mind, it's how they RECORD what he's doing. If you seek to get mostly low end or mostly high-end, mid-range...that's what's going to happen. Same goes for accentuating what Avi (or Matt) does.
@pattimills92853 жыл бұрын
It's a medley guys, a mash up of three or four Daft Punk songs. If you have an issue with their beatboxing instrumentation you must watch Bohemian Rhapsody next because Mitch is the electric guitar in that one, not even kidding. So much fun. You guys are super fun to watch.

Welcome to the aca-swamp! This would be the appropriate time to introduce you fellas to the ”big 3” of modern acapella! Of course, you just witnessed Pentatonix, but now you’ll have to check out both Home Free and Voiceplay! Home Free is a country acapella band and I would strongly recommend you to check out their cover of Ring of Fire (feat. Avi Kaplan, the basist of Pentatonix). Voiceplay is more of a mixed type of acapella band but they also have an amazing basist in Geoff Castelucci. I would suggest you either check out their version of the ”Oogie boogie song” from A Nightmare Before Christmas and/or their Queen medley! Great reaction, have a nice day!

Lol, Kevin is pretty hard to believe! He’s INSANELY talented as a beatboxer (among a LOT of other things). To get the full appreciation of him and all of them is to watch one of their live videos. They do Evolutions where they mash up a bunch of songs by a specific artist and they are done live in one take. My personal favorite is the Evolution of Ariana Grande, but they’ve done Evolutions or Michael Jackson, Rihanna, N’SYNC and an Evolution of Music in general. They’re all worth a reaction and are truly inspiring to watch because they are LIVE.

As always, the trick is the power of microphones. Put a good microphone directly on the beatboxer's body, so it can record the full resonance, that's how these sounds are possible. If you record from the distance, it wouldn't sound like that, still great I'm sure, but a lot of the resonance you are getting is the fact, that the microphone is directly on the body. Still, it's only their voices, so that's cool.

@tamarasmith90603 жыл бұрын
Someone commented on how you wrongly called it a song instead of a medley. Technically they're right but don't worry about it. It's not a big deal, I don't get why they're picking at that one misspoken word. 🙄 Most Pentaholics call it the "Daft Punk Medley" when mentioning/recommending it like "medley" is in the official name, but it isn't. Scott calls it that in the outro, but is stating a description, not a title. He says "our Daft Punk medley" instead of "our Daft Punk song". PTX probably could've put it in the title but instead just titled it "Daft Punk" after the band, feeling it wasn't necessary to use the term. After all, when they do a mashup of just 2 songs, they don't put mashup in the title, so if it's 3 or more songs why should they have to put medley in the title? It just makes the title longer for no reason.
