I found swarm cells in two hives already and some nuc boxes booming. Pay attention and equalize before losing your honey crop.

my usual "every day carry" for swarm season is a pro nuc (sometimes ive got 2) with 3/2 drawn/foundation (i LOVE giving swarms foundation, they draw it so fast), vented jacket, an extendable paint pole with a bucket at the end for those high up swarms, and a 6 foot ladder. also always have branch clippers so i can prune around swarms to make it so they dont go everywhere when i shake branches.

If you plan it good you may be able to make few swarm traps… there is a video on U2 that they tell you that he proper size of the trap.. look for Cornel University NY about wild honey bee 🐝

My daughter bought a home with bees in the living room wall, and she had a company come out and capture the hive, then cleaned and repaired the wall. Then she discovered there was a hive in the ancient pepper tree in the backyard, so she had that hive captured and removed. The company told her to fill the cavity in the tree with construction foam, which she did, and a month later bees are drilling into the foam and setting up another hive. Fortunately they are not aggressive, but her neighbor over the back fence likes to complain that she still has bees showing up on her side of the fence! LOL! I wonder if my daughter should just put a hive box out there so she can at least keep them healthy and harvest honey?

If the swarms are native bees, those are different from typical honeybees (most likely German). Your daughter could put up a swarm trap to collect the bees for easy removal.. If the bees came from a managed hive, you are good on making honey as those bees would be easy to work with.. last summer, I had yellow jackets in my wall but not from my beehives.

Caught my first swarm of the season. They landed right in the middle of a blackberry patch. Did I let that stop me? Heck no!

Caught my 5th two days ago, Southeast Virginia, Tidewater Area. Never leave home without a Pro Nuk box, bee suit, smoker, 6' ladder, bee broom, and queen cage. Can you give dimensions on the hive stands? Like you, caught a swarm in a trap, put them at all your friends houses. Typically, i catch 3-5 a year in 3 traps and normally, not from my colonies.

A pineapple, duct tape and a paper clip - - I can do anything. 😂. I would suggest, to add some banding strap to your McGiver kit. 😎

All my bee equipment needs replacing. It's been sitting empty for 8 years and dry rot has set in. All the wood frames are disintegrating and the boxes too. *sigh I paid $300 for that hive and never got to use it.

You need to use a scion. it would keep you from loosing any of your bees

@@TheHoneysteadI meant the "sniper" that grabs a swarm before you can get there. 😆 Pruners are definitely helpful, but I can never find them when I need them.
