Often people say, “I don’t need to go to church. I’m spiritual, I’m not into organized religion,” remind them that Jesus Himself organized religion - the Catholic Church. In Matthew Jesus established the Church, giving His Apostles the authority to forgive sins and act in His Name. Then be inspired by former NFL quarterback Elvis Grbac as he shares the importance of the Church to him and his family.
Watch Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, and the Marian Fathers and Brothers from the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy on our weekly show, "Living Divine Mercy," airing on EWTN every Wednesday at 6:30 pm EST, with an encore presentation on Mondays at 9:00 am EST. Through teaching segments, Bible and St. Faustina Diary excerpts, as well as real-life examples of people who are living Divine Mercy in their lives, you will learn why Jesus said Divine Mercy is mankind's last hope of salvation! Episode 104: Did Christ Require a Church?

Fr., how did you know I am looking for answer to this topic? Lots of people saying we do not need religion as long as we have deep relationship with God. Why do we need a religion? I guess this will answer their questions, no one could have explained it better. Thank you so much. Please make a much more in depth video explaining why we need religion. Unless you already have made one. God bless, Fr. and I’m a marian helper praying for you all everyday.🙏

The Catholic Church can also tell you what happened to the apostles. How Clement and Linus mentioned in Acts became popes after Peter, and Onesemose became a bishop. The story went on as Christ promised to send the Holy Spirit to us in every generation and we remember and honor this evangelization and witness to Christ through time.

Awesome! A topic needed to be discussed. What's the point of choosing and sending apostles to the four corners of the world and for them to suffer martyrdom if there's no need for religion...if it's ok to have a fragmented church...if "once saved, always saved" is true. This is awesome. I love the way Fr. Chris explains things. I think it's also important to also point out that this isn't based on personal interpretation of the bible, but rather Sacred Tradition which has been documented from the first century. So unlike the biggest of all man-made doctrines; Sola Scriptura (Bible Alone started 500 years ago by former Dominican priest Martin Luther) we don't read our own meanings into biblical text, but rather we see documented history in the scriptures.

Congratulations on Season 3 of Living Divine Mercy Father Chris to you and all involved in its production. Thank you Father Chris for the very simple roadmap to Eternal life in this episode. What amazing tools we have been given, not only in this episode, but over the course of many of your teachings. This episode basically summed them all up. I loved the pragmatic approach and the way you gave us all the tools to refute the arguments people offer regarding Catholicism. Just brilliant. I can think of at least a half dozen people with whom I will directly share this episode. Over the course of the past few weeks. they are the people who have asked me to pray for them. I always say YES then I have reminded them that they too must pray. Then, depending on my degree of familiarity, I will remind them that in order to get God’s attention, they need to GIVE God attention by attending Sunday Mass, receiving sacraments, especially confession. It certainly has begun some lively conversations. From your teaching, I explained that prayer is not some kind of magical incantation but a real commitment to our Catholic faith. Most of the time when I remember them in prayer, I pray for two things: I pray for the intercession of Mary, and I pray that they align themselves with the will of God. Every prayer every chaplet every litany, I give to Mary. I explain how my life has done a 180 as I have grown in faith and I want the same for them so this show is a perfect roadmap to share. I love the people with whom I am on this journey. God has blessed me so abundantly, for which I am so grateful. God bless you Father Chris.

Fr. Chris, thank you for posing this very interesting question: Did Christ Require a Church - Living Divine Mercy. This episode gives light to the minds and hearts seeking the true meaning of the Catholic Church and how you foresee what we need is extremely admirable and I’m deeply touched by your holy generosity. As Jesus founded the Catholic Church for us, we can always find Him there and feel His divine presence waiting for us. The church is our fountain of life and graces because of Jesus and His sacraments. Thank you Jesus for giving us the Catholic Church, we must in return show our love and gratitude to you by being faithful to your Holy Will. An endless thanksgiving to you, Fr. Chris, to those who share their faith: Fr. Tyler and Elvis Grbac and to the powerful, amazing team, God bless and prayers for you all. God loves you .

The first thirteen minutes, where you explain the Catholic Faith and challenge the misconceptions about it, are worth more than all the gold in the world. I have been challenged by people who embrace these misconceptions, for much of my life. This video explains, in a simple and straightforward way, how the bible itself proves how misguided those misconceptions are. I will try to share this video with others who are curious about, or who try to use the bible to denounce, our faith. I met one such person earlier this year. If anyone is reading this comment, please add him to your prayers. He was led away from the Catholic Church by extreme 7th Day Adventists and taught to hate the other denominations, especially Catholicism. He later apostasized from both churches, and now believes in a kind of conspiracy Christianity, in which the Antichrist will most certainly be a Pope of the Catholic Church. I pray for him often. After speaking to him for hours regarding the faith, i feel strongly that he wants to follow God, but is disillusioned by organized religion because of his traumatic experiences. Please keep him, and all those like him, in your prayers. 🙏

Brilliant. When people tell me, I’m a good person and I don’t need to go to church. I tell them, I’m sure you’re a very good person, but where did you learn your values? I bet you learned them at home from your parents, and where did your parents learn these good values? I bet they learned them from church, or maybe from their parents who learned how to be good from going to church. We are not cut out of whole cloth. Whether we even know it or not, we embody the traditions and values that have been passed down through our families, who learned from the church.

The bible states clearly that Christ says to Peter: "You are the rock upon which I will build my church." There's no doubt, unless one is reading from a non-Catholic bible; all of which were modifications or reinterpretations of the Catholic bible. As Fr. Joseph stated in the above video, all the other Bibles and denominations broke away from Catholicism, 1500 years after Christ. Jesus also stated he would be with us and the church always, to the end of the age. Not our measure of ages, like the dark age; but until He returns at the end of the Age of Christ. (As far as I understand from homilies and Catholic Church sources) The bible passage alone is the best response, but I hope this helps somehow. 🙏

“Discontinuing medical procedures that are burdensome, dangerous, extraordinary, or disproportionate to the expected outcome can be legitimate; it is the refusal of ‘over-zealous’ treatment. Here one does not will to cause death; one’s inability to impede it is merely accepted. The decisions should be made by the patient if he is competent, whose reasonable will and legitimate interests must always be respected” (CCC 2278). - I copied this from the Catholic Catechism. Like so many other things, it wouldn't hurt to consult your local Priest for further guidance.

@@sharonstout7802 I thought we were always to strive to live, not give up and assume all is lost. I doubt it's a sin to turn down treatment, but if there is a chance to extend your life I believe God provided that option, working through medical doctors and such. You could look at anyone who is depressed. If they feel life is not worth living, do we tell them to stop taking care of themselves or stop eating and drinking? No. We encourage them to live. God has plans for us all. Giving up on purpose is not the wisest thing to do with the gift of life that God gave us. I hope you get a response back from the Marians. I would love to know the answer as well.

I’m sorry, but it is not a good thing to have the evangelicals be very prominent in the locker rooms, because they are preaching heresy.
