Clickbait? Explain how? There were odds of any year insert being in that box. I didn’t know any more than you til the vid was done. It’s the hunt that makes it interesting. And the people at the market have jobs, they’re just selling off their junk. Sports Card Investor did a 1952 pack rip last week. Spoiler alert, he didn’t pull the card either. Contrary to what you've said in your replies to some people, it would have been impossible for you to pull a 1952 Mantle card from that 1991 Topps box. That's because the size of the 1952 cards is bigger than the size of the 1991 cards, so it's not possible to insert any Topps cards from 1952 to 1956 in those packs. Topps started making the current standard sized cards in 1957.
@sportscardhub6388

There’s a handful of articles that say different. Only reason I went lookin to begin with. But I’m not saying you’re wrong because it wouldn’t be the first time media lied about something. The claim was that the 40th boxes had inserts from every year Topps was in biz and that that included the Mantle. 🤷🏻
@montrealsports29

@@sportscardhub6388 It's possible that there were redemption cards inserted in those packs for the cards from 1952-56, but those redemption cards would be expired by now, anyway. I have a vague recollection about that. But I do know for sure that there was a 0% chance of getting the actual 1952 Mantle card in any 1991 Topps pack. I really enjoyed this video. I appreciate you making it. I understand why you used the did I find a 1952 Topps Mickey mantle in the title heck it’s why I clicked on the video BUT my personal opinion is don’t go with questionable titles in the long run you will lose trust in your viewer maybe one day you will come across one and now I won’t be watching cause I felt slighted the first time. Don’t get me wrong I know it’s a part of KZfaq but I would choose complete honesty long term. Just my opinion. I really appreciated your video otherwise and your editing skills.
@sportscardhub6388
@sportscardhub6388 Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your opinion and especially you watching the video. You kinda hit the nail on the head, maybe not in the way you think though. You see, it’s all a chain of events. That title gets the initial views, then the initial interaction, then the platform makes the video visible. Without these events in order, you would never have even seen this video to click on it in the first place. But like you said, it’s part of KZfaq. And honestly, being 100 with you right now, I did this in real time. I didn’t know what was in those packs until I got to that part in the edit. There were odds, just not good ones. Sports Card Investor just did a video in which he had odds of pulling this same card. Spoiler alert. He didn’t. I didn’t feel slighted though because I was entertained by the purchase and the rip. The chances. This is gonna be a fun series where you’re gonna see hunts and both vintage and new scores. The wins and the losses. I hope you’ll stick around!

there's not too much value in 91 Topps...Griffey and Chipper Jones RC are maybe a couple bucks...then there is the super rare Mark Whiten "hand over the border" error card which is worth a few dollars. Chris Hoiles has a fairly rare error card in the set too...I believe it's "a white border" error where the inner border of the card is white.

What you did prove to me is how so many cards just aren't worth shit.......those prices seemed extremely fair for the condition (then again...I"m not a serious collector....well at least not of cards....other things) It' a flea market...expect the worst. When I do a flea, I always have a bent-up, beat, tea-stained, Wagner repo in my one showcase. I do it just to give old collector's heart attacks. They always want to buy it off me. I tell 'em $3 or walk. They always buy it (and yes, it DOES say repo on the back) and then I have my son take another repo and "distress" it. and put another in the case to replace. You can't believe how many I've sold over the years..... Didja ever see the video of the guy shredding his cards with a shredder....it's funny as hell.

@@sportscardhub6388 You bring up some great points. As I got older, I got back into model trains and slot cars but now since, I had money, I could get what I want, when I want and do it right. I also now knew how to repair them. Interesting how we go back to old hobbies. It just amazes me how some cards aren't just worth the money. I did the National at Cleveland years ago (twice) (and NO - I deal in collectibles but not cards - although I am trying to sell my old non-sport card sets -usually at the fleas) . What amazed me, is that after people had left, we were still packing up and you could NOT believe what dealers had left. I brought back 4 large flats (filled to the brim) with various sport cards. NOthing of real value I think, but I sold a bunch to guys at work and a bunch at the fleas (mainly all 80's-90's stuff and it wasn't all just baseball either). I made decent money. Basically, I was charging 10 cents a card or 15 for a dollar. Anyway, you look at it, I was AMAZED at what dealers left. I brought back even MORE stuff (an entire metal dolly) than we had BROUGHT. Our two cards WERE FILLED to the entire brim with stuff people left. Amazing...(side note - we did make money at the show..but not tons. Even though we were local - which is why we did it, we never went back) I will say this, if you collect cards - you REALLY need to go to a National. I"m not even a sports fan and it WAS amazing. Fleas - well what can I say. I used to look for vinyl back in the 80's at the fleas. OMG - the shit they had there was beyond rough. Most of the time, there was no point in buying it as it was all BEAT. IF you did find somebody who had vinyl in good shape - they wanted some money for it - which to some extent was okay...but what I learned is you don't go to fleas for condition - unless you come to my booth. I say that, because all my shit is neatly packaged, protected with plastic, and in good shape. I usually do quite well due to that...have fun hunting though. If you want to hear my story about my Honus Wagner....comment me back and I"ll tell ya about it.

Clickbait city. $10 was a decent buy on the 91 topps. Didn’t appear tampered with. Cards from that era were pack searched often but no evidence of that here with the Griffey. But no reason to even bring up grading, not worth the $30 and several month wait hoping for an 8? Your only chance of profit on that box would have been selling the sealed box for about $15. The binder looked great for $20, so $12 was a really nice score. The marvel cards have value but I love the 70s sports cards, and it appeared it may not have been just commons. Incredibly lucky to even find 70s cards for cheap out in the wild. I found it funny you were excited about the $2 random junk era cards but not excited about the other 2, whereas even $2 seemed too much for a small stack of junk era commons but you scoffed at $10 for a 91 topps sealed box, and $20 for a sweet binder of 70s cards and marvel cards. It was backwards.

Oh I’m plenty excited about the binder. Sorry if it didn’t come off that way. But a closer look will be taken at it in another episode. There’s so much in there that it will require that. And “scoffed” isn’t exactly accurate. I still would’ve bought the two. But it’s a flea market. It’s implied no one’s paying the asking price. This series is gonna be about the hunt and negotiating as much as the cards themselves. Did anything stand out to you in the vintage that might be of note?

Little criticism for you. The video quality and overall tone of the video is good and I will watch more in the future. The use of the Mantle is a little cringey and totally unnecessary to gain views. There are tons of us who just love watching the hunt in the wild for cards and that will bring in viewers so just keep that up. You mentioned that you are just getting back into sports cards, so I understand the lack of knowledge on some things. That being said your haggling appears to have not sat well with viewers, as the old guy with the binders $20 ask was more than fair and it is not fun to watch others being taken advantage of.

But it WAS necessary for views. Without the initial views and interaction, there would’ve been no visibility on the platform. You never would’ve seen this video to begin with. As to my “haggling” not sitting well… I don’t know how to respond to that. It’s a flea market. A swap meet. You haggle. You dicker. You talk with folks. Im not going to overpay for stuff. And you’re right, a lot of viewers don’t like seeing me get deals. I hear it on my game channel too. But some buys are losses. You gotta cut your costs. A lot of these cards, despite being old are still overprinted and worthless. I didn’t take advantage of anyone. I made an offer and it was accepted. But if you enjoy the wild hunt you’re gonna enjoy this series. There’s a new episode coming soon and I appreciate your input.

@@sportscardhub6388 with all due respect, I have zero idea why you might think topps put older cards in their 1991 boxes. That 100% never happened

Really? I had odds to pull it but I didn’t. You should still enjoy the hunt and negotiating. Sports Card Investor just did a mick vid. Didn’t pull it. But it was still exciting.

It wasn't clickbait. The product was unopened and there's allegedly still a Mantle floating around out there. Look it up. Topps inserted cards from every year in the 40th anniversary boxes. My odds weren't good. But it was still an exciting find. And I didn't know if it was or wasn't there until I ripped it in the video. That was the whole point. I'm sorry you didn't like it. But thanks for watching all the same.
