AMANDA is a trauma nurse by day, and a paranormal investigator by night. In less than a year, she's gained over 500,000 followers on TikTok, due to her down to earth story telling of hauntings, spooky legends and murders. But there’s one specific story that has captivated her followers - the infamous Lizzie Borden case. Dating back over 130 years, a young woman in Fall River, Massachusetts was accused of the brutal murders of her father and step-mother. No-one was ever convicted of the murders, although rumours of Lizzie’s guilt followed her for the rest of her life. Fascinated by the case, Amanda set out to prove Lizzie’s innocence once and for all, even getting help from some spirits along the way. Amanda’s research, and previous investigations have lead her to believe that the real murderer of Lizzie’s father and stepmother was the uncle. As Amanda makes her fifth visit to the Lizzie Borden House, she will attempt to make contact with Lizzie for the very first time and find some closure on this mystery.
To find out more about staying at The Lizzie Borden House, you can find details here:

Theory: maggie was in the house the time the murder happened, she stated that she didnt hear anything clearly until lizzie called her from the 1st floor "help! Fathers dead!" So how could she hear lizzie but not a floor below her someone slashing abby in the head? There couldve been some screams and thuds but no how can she hear lizzie from the 1st floor but not the floor below her? Suspicious

I agree with you. I find it very hard to believe that Maggie didn't hear the constant blows to the heads of Mrs. and Mr. Borden. One blow, maybe, but they were each hit several times. My theory is that Lizzie and Maggie were both complicit, even if all Maggie did was operated as the lookout. I'm actually inclined to believe that Emma's visiting friends was part of the plan and maybe even the uncle's visit was part of the plan, as well, making the four of them (Lizzie, Emma, the uncle and Maggie) all complicit.

I agree - she must have heard something. She also testified that it took her three quarters of an hour to wash up after breakfast. She was the only witness to place Abby downstairs after 9 am. And she left the house with that carpet bag. The case is fascinating...

Abbys blows were all to the back of her head (autopsy photo is on YT). So she was sneaked up on probably. If the first blow stunned her & sent her sprawling she might have fallen forward but grabbed onto the bed at first, as she was in there changing pillow cases. She also might not have had chance to scream. Her body was half under the bed face down like she was trying to crawl away. It was pulled out from under the bed to be photo'd

I’ve lived in Fall River all my life, so the legend of the Borden murders is pretty much ingrained into my mind. I’ve been visiting this house since its Leary Press days. I’ve stayed overnight several times over the years, and have witnessed some paranormal investigations firsthand. You’re extremely thorough and your historical knowledge is impressive. Out of all the investigations I’ve seen, Amy Allan and The Dead Files special investigation of this house was most authentic to me.

I think people wouldn't have a problem blaming Lizzie if she was a male not a female. She is literally defended because she was a woman. Seriously. John had an air tight alibi, yet people are still wanting to pin it on him, regardless that he had no motive and wasn't there at the time, but Lizzy, the greedy ungrateful daughter claims to be in the barn, with no witnesses to verify it, yet she MUST be innocent? It's ludicrous! She hated her step mother and was worried about losing money. She wanted to live on the hill. Well she got what she wanted but somehow, people still think she was innocent because 12 men couldn't believe a woman could be so violent lololol. And btw, so called voices from the dead aren't proof of anything.
@AltKaycee
@AltKaycee Жыл бұрын
Actually John didn't have a completely tight alibi because his whereabouts were known from the morning and the time of the murders his whereabouts during that time is unknown, so there is a possibility that Lizzie could have been involved in some way, but also John could have been involved as well including the maid Maggie

Lizzie Borden didn't died in that house. Why would her ghost be there? Lizzie and Maggie did the murders. They were the only people in the house. There was witnesses who saw Lizzie burning a red dress after the murders. Maggie testified that she saw Lizzie in a blue dress. John left the house after breakfast. Andrew left soon after, mailing some letters for Lizzie. Lizzie did the murders in a red dress. Murdering Abby in the guest room 1st, as Maggie waited for Andrew to return. Maggie let Andrew in. Lizzie attack him with an ax as Maggie holded Andrew down. Maggie helped Lizzie change into a blue dress. As it stated in Maggie testimony, she saw Lizzie in a blue dress.

Firstly there is still not enough proof to say Lizzie did it Secondly it takes a long time from a dress in that time period to change quickly. Thirdly I think that because of the murders is a reason why Lizzie haunts there, same reason why a ghost usually doesn't haunt the place their body is and not always the place the died. could also be because of trauma of before and after the murders. That can be another reason why Lizzie's ghost is there. I will admit I think Maggie had something to do with it considering I'm pretty sure she lied on the stand, I believe that John is also guilty and that Maggie was bribed with a lot of money and probably regrets that

Some of the most prolific experiments in telepathy were carried out by one of the fathers of wireless, Sir Oliver Lodge. In 1894, Lodge invented a device, called the coherer, capable of intercepting remote wireless signals; it was used in some of the earliest radio receivers. Lodge also researched and wrote about telepathy and the spirit world up until his death in 1940. Lodge hypothesized that thoughts could exit the body and move like radio waves between the sender and receiver. By his logic, respected mediums were simply fleshy coherers, more attuned to capturing thought waves than other human beings.

I see quite a few people saying John did it, but that makes no sense whatsoever. People can say he did it all day but can't seem to give a single reason why. Also the murders happened in a time frame where it wouldn't be possible, because he was at his nieces at the same time (approximated) as the murders. It is documented that neighbors called them "not, crazy, but ugly" ( quote). The Borden's weren't good people according to witness testimony. Lizzie was noted as having a short/quick temper, had the motive ( because Abby stood in the way of the inheritance), and someone fitting her description attempted to buy poison the night before. Yes it's circumstantial, but the dress that was burned should have been a huge red flag. During her inquest, her story changed three times and her alibi was weak because the maid was not in the house with her. She was outside on the opposite side of where the room Abby was in, so she wouldn't have heard anything. Had DNA existed, i do believe Lizzie would have hanged.

That’s not actually them. It’s their own demon, each one of us have one and they’re always with us and will leave when we die. But, if you get murdered your demon would pretty much stick to where you died in sadness and most of them would want revenge. So pretty much it’s their demons in the house waiting for revenge perhaps.

It's sad that people believe to strongly in a judicial system yet when there's an acquittal they don't agree with they continue to treat the accused as guilty. So much for respecting the law and due course. It's sickening to me that throughout time whether it be Lizzie Borden or O.J. Simpson the result is the same. Both, though acquitted, were convicted in the eyes of the public and spent their lives as such. In today's society when you don't agree with an acquittal you just sue for money as that's not nearly as difficult to have a jury hand over. Though a person is acquitted, the system allows others to sue them and take everything they've ever earned or accomplished away from them as if the charge, jailing, attorney fees and destruction of their lives and reputation was sufficient punishment for an accusation which could not be proven in a Court of Law. How can anyone of us believe in such a system that allows further punishment to those not proven guilty in Court to satisfy the public's cry? I believe in our system whether it be right or wrong therefore I cannot support or believe in the ability to sue after a person has been found not guilty. To do so, erases the Legal process and the findings of a Jury. I pray, one day, the law will correct itself and stop allowing such lawsuits as I see this not to be a legal remedy but an act of vengeance while discrediting the Jury's Verdict. Is it possible that we shall ever stop trying the guilty and innocent alike in the Press, Media and Streets or our civilized society or is just the best we can do? I'd rather see a guilty person be freed than an innocent one persecuted. I've read volumes about this particular murder case and even with all the flaws see no evidence or reason for the lifetime sentence Lizzie Borden was given by the public. I thank you for your insightful piece. Well done.

So you're saying that people should stop having opinions and just treat the court system as infallible?
@chess6602
@chess6602 2 жыл бұрын
I mean the difference with O.J. Was that he abused Nicole, and also years after the murders committed armed robbery. It’s believed (with pretty good reason) that his lawyers let him know the gloves would be fundamentally important and so he just built muscle in his hand to make sure they wouldn’t fit. I’ve reviewed that case inside and out for law class (we had a mock trial at the end of the year, I was the defence attorney) and there’s nothing but the glove not fitting that would actually prove his innocence (or really just bring his guilt into reasonable doubt) I agree in believing a jury’s verdict, but similarly we shouldn’t have a judicial system that can be so easily manipulated by clever tricks by lawyers. Also I understand what you’re trying to say, but we do quite literally have to try the guilty and the innocent the same to determine whether they are guilty or innocent. In short - OJ is very much not in the same ballpark as Lizzie, there’s a good chance Lizzie is actually innocent, but for him? Not really 😬
@flamingmonkays
@flamingmonkays 2 жыл бұрын
@@chess6602 To be fair, there's fairly good evidence that Lizzie Borden committed the crime she was accused of. Not nearly as much as there was for OJ, but still enough that legal historians generally agree on her guilt. The trial and "not guilty" verdict also had a lot to do with attitudes about women and immigrants, as well.
@chess6602
@chess6602 2 жыл бұрын
@@flamingmonkays yeah. I suppose the issue with law is that for murder it’s to be proven beyond reasonable doubt. I suppose there is the potential for reasonable doubt in the Borden case in that there’s no DNA testing etc available, nor beyond the occasionally expressed frustrations towards her father was there really a motive (legally if you do murder someone you’re supposed to inherit from you cannot then claim that inheritance). With cases so far in the past it’s easier to let the case lie (at least if you’re a layperson who does not have to study it) as all those affected by it have now died, and there’s just not enough physical evidence to prove one way or another. But no, I don’t think we should be treating the court system as infallible at all - I mean if they can constantly put innocent people in jail and free the guilty then they’re clearly not fool proof. I mean again… OJ walked free with literal mountains of evidence against him because he exercised his hand so a glove wouldn’t fit. Kind of terrifying that the courts can be played like that.

@@flamingmonkays I agree with you one hundred percent. Also an acquittal is not a verdict of being found innocent. It just means they could not find enough evidence to convict her. It does not mean she did not do it.

You're confusing the truth of what happened and what the legal system determined. Just because OJ was acquitted doesn't mean he didn't actually do it.
