You should be asking why all the journals claim to be Joseph smith are tampered with.. why would someone change the dairies after his death

Sincere request to Don or Ward Radio, please give your explanation for Joseph Smiths altered October 5th, 1843 journal entry found in the JSP. This entry was changed to say the exact opposite of what it actually says. Not trying start a fight, I’m honestly just curious about your thoughts on this.

I really like Kwaku’s comments. He seems to have the ability to examine both sides fairly, which makes his comments sound very balanced.

A better analogy than people buying things, for those suing for tithing refunds would be one involving a donation. It would be like suing The World Wildlife Fund because they built a building after making donations. It would be like suing for a refund because a turtle rescue organization supported the "wrong" species of turtle.

I just re-read Whitney Horning's preface to her book, Joseph Smith Revealed, and I don't see that she was writing with bias at all. She does state why she was motivated to learn more about this topic, investigate it, and write about it, which was because she was bothered by the Church's narrative, as are all we women, I dare say. But she did not go about her research to prove a particular view.

The premise in the video being explored is that Brigham himself "wrote" all of D&C 132 or even "added to" an existing non-polygamous revelation, but why does it have to be Brigham himself that did the writing? Couldn't someone else have done the writing per BY's request?

The truth is, you can believe Joseph was a polygamist and be a faithful Mormon. You can believe he wasn't a polygamist and be a faithful Mormon. You can believe he was a polygamist and not believe in Mormonism. You can believe he wasn't a polygamist and not believe in Mormonism.

Ok, so Joseph Smith’s polygamy goes away. What about the prophets of the Old Testament? If Jacob only married Leah and never Rachel there would have been no Joseph or Ephraim. The tribe of Ephraim is significant to Joseph Smith and the LDS Church.

It was quite presumptuous of Don to say those in the anti-polygamy camp believe Brigham authored D&C 132. It’s pretty common knowledge that it was far more likely to be an Orson Pratt and William Clayton collaboration and even many LDS members acknowledge that 131 was exactly that. If you read The Seer by Orson Pratt, 132 aligns with his doctrinal beliefs as well as his style of writing. Brigham Young was merely the enforcer of 132. There’s no way JS could have authored 132. He knew the Bible far too well to not know Isaac wasn’t a polygamist. Yet D&C claims that Isaac was a polygamist. That’s a huge mistake. On the other hand, Orson Pratt was known to read into things to the extreme and jump to absurd conclusions, which is exactly why he had the absurd idea that Jesus himself was a polygamist. Seriously though, how does one read the gospels and conclude that Jesus was a polygamous? No wonder why only the extremists like the FLDS take Orson Pratt’s writings seriously anymore. Yet, the LDS church still hangs onto D&C 132 as a revelation from God and Russel M. Nelson even quoted from it in General Conference.

I just want to comment on the presumption that everyone who doubts Joseph Smith was a polygamist end up leaving the church (or distances themselves from the church). In my case, I was on the verge of leaving. There were so many things I was seeing where the church didn't seem to actually believe in the Book of Mormon. Prophets were not prophesying, etc. It was when I dug into this topic did things start to actually make sense. In a way, it has kept me closer to the church. I know others have had the same experience.

Is there a way to contact Don directly? I would love to see the 30 contemporary sources showing that Joseph did indeed teach and practice polygamy. Let people dive into these sources without a bias coming from either side of the argument.
