So glad you called this out because I thought I just couldn’t find it in the menu! I always used the joy stick to magnify as well so it’s so annoying to have to use the thumb wheel or set another button to do it. Hope they fix is ASAP

I am so happy to see there's an update to the SL601. Even though it's a super small update, it means leica still cares about it after almost ten years

Rest assured: the message regarding the joystick magnification has reached Leica and it will for sure come back. The firmware also includes updates for AF functions if you are using AF glas. Sure it’s a bummer for using MF lenses but it will come back. No worries. This is also what Leica distinguishes from other camera manufacturers. They listen to their customers…most of the time. 😀

Absolutely, I’ve been testing more with what they added to the af lenses and I really like that. Definitely thankful for all of the updates and how they listen to feedback

The updates to firmware are why I will stay with Leica. I like being treated as a long term customer rather than a one off purchaser.

1:06 dude this is so wild - Justin Mott said he has the same issue but my joystick still works for magnifying after updating!

Literally RAN to my camera after seeing this to see if it was true and got SO bummed for about 10 seconds about the joystick button thing, UNTIL I realized the new push button could be set to magnification which I like so much better! I always loved this function but was always feeling like it was a bit of a reach with my thumb and I have giant hands. I also don't like auto-magnification with autofocus lenses so I had to have one of the front buttons set to magnification as well because in autofocus the joystick turns into a back button focus. I went out for a bit of a walk and within about 20 minutes I was even faster using the thumb wheel, and now I have one of the front buttons back for another function. So now I don't consider this a nuke or mistake and see it as yet another upgrade. (They should have let you still program the joystick to mag if you want though.) I have had this camera for 3 years now and it is twice the camera it was when I bought it. PDAF and a tilt screen in the SL3 and I will be set for life.

Yes Yes Yes Exactly that !! 100% like you I was crazy when I realized this magnification issue ! Please alert us as soon as you see it ! :) Indeed your remark about SL3 is concerning, I read elsewhere also they did that for the users no more to use the joystick that would be removed in the SL3...

Yikes, mine is getting fixed in Germany I’m sure they will update it for me :( the joystick magnifier is the main reason I don’t use my canon for manual focus lenses.
