@@bertoh5544 Dude… it would be in your best interest to just trade in what you have and get a better trim that runs on gas. A scatpack would be the next step up for you. @@bertoh5544 Well… their is an in between. Otherwise a scatpack wouldn’t be the most popular sale for dodge. You definitely can build on a scat. Their just not great for boost. It’s okay to have an all motor muscle car and a scatpack is capable of that I’ve seen people running 550 to the wheels with stock internals and zero aftermarket supporting mods. Without blowing their engine up. It’s usually the dummies that try to boost them or they try to push 700 wheel without putting anything in there to support it Same thing goes for the 6.1 man. Despite the fact that a 6.1 is slightly less powerful. It still makes a great all motor

Social Media is why the Car Culture is dead Social Media is why a lot of things in our modern society is no longer as valued or sacred anymore and horsepower is so numb now it’s crazy especially if you never felt 300HP in your life that’s a lot of horsepower if you never felt it before

Exactly. People who've never driven anything but their Corolla will say that if your car doesn't make 1200hp, it's slow. People have become desensitized to horsepower numbers, and especially the people who've never experienced a 400-500 hp performance oriented car/build.

Im in my 50s and I remember going out even after the advent of KZfaq and racing on the streets. We still respects the streets and didn’t act stupid. When these kids started doing them “take overs,” is when it all went down hill. They had no respect for no one. Then if a family would need to get through that buffoonery they would attack the family sometimes hurting people. What was worse was when they post that ish, and get all them likes and comments egging that crap on. I still go out, but the group I’m with, even though some kids are 30 years my junior, they know to respect and not bring attention to us as a group. I’m gonna chase that street car life till the day comes I stop breathing.

Wrong! So wrong. Chrysler bought Lamborghini back in the late 80's. That purchase served as the apparatus for the launch of a certain unrefined and very analog hotrod muscle car named the Viper. The prowler followed that theme and came later, only it was more of a gimmick hotrod that paid homage to yester year, that was more gawk factor than anything else. Dodge viper starting back in the early 90's laid the ground work for the certain division you're referencing. When Chrysler asked Lamborghini to build the viper a better engine, a new company, in its infancy, started to emerge. Hence, the first ever srt performance car.

Agreed for the most part but I'd like to add that A) I personally like the SSR :P B) Mopar didn't do it alone, we can also blame stagnant wages (young people can't afford even entry level sports cars anymore) and the proliferation of pickup trucks and SUVs taking over the market segment sedans used to populate (automakers have to build cars as crash compatible to vehicles that weigh 1.5x-2x as much as previous averages and with bumpers several times higher which is also why visibility on modern cars sucks, but therefore small fun cars lose out)

I would add that the American horse power wars of the 2000s were a direct result of the Japanese horse power wars of the 1990s. Talking the big boys from Japan: Skyline, Supra, Evo, Rx7, WRX/STI. I think America and Europe were late to the party in the 1990s but finished strong in the 2000s. Even Mercedes and Audi show up with high horse power in the 2000s. Redlines and AMGs.

I don't let social media dictate the bar. I always say a lot of these people can't even handle over 400 horsepower. If you build anything over 500 horses that car will fly. Just make sure you invest into better brakes.

They did. They were trying hard to save it in an age where no one goes outside anymore. They killed it instead. But that’s okay. An 05 mustang gt has been my dream car since December 2004. I finally got it this year. It’s incredible. Don’t care what someone’s horsepower number is.

I’m surprised you even mentioned the E55 M113K engine, amazing to see it being appreciated. Just sad to see that the horsepower wars kinda ruined everything, because back in the early 2000s 350 hp used to be seen as decently good and high, but now today if you have 300 hp you’re seen as slow and having a weak car. It really numbs how powerful 300 hp is. And yes the people who own mopars are the ones who kinda screwed everything up, they’re the wannabes to be fair. Horsepower isn’t everything but damn do they make it seem like it is.

I have said before, Pontiac problem was it lost it's identity. General Motors had Chevrolet as it's budget division and Cadillac as Ultra Luxury performance division, everything in between got confused and over lapped.🤔 Pontiac ever since the 1960s was supposed to be GM performance division. So why was Pontiac selling minivans and crossovers never made sense to me???🤔. Pontiac should had concentrated on making sports or performance cars, like GMC only sells trucks. But that too is a confused division also.😮 General Motors as a whole has too much overlapping cars and trucks period. 😢

Then they put "Charger" on a K-car it all ended. Ford did it to the Stang adding II at the end - Then, Dodge put "Charger" on a 4dr sedan ... They admitted as much with the retro Challenger

German won the horsepower war in the 2000s. SL65 with more torque and power than a Viper. RS6 wagon that dusted most cars on the Autobahn. M5 with the F1 V10. Then emissions regulation ruined everything.

When Plymouth was in development of the Prowler, the best v8 Chrysler had on hand was the 318 or the 360. The 3.5L v6 has more power and weighs less than either of those engines.

The main two things that ruined car culture in america, is Reaganomics fucking up our economy by taking the trade embargo off of basically all foreign things, and shows like Top Gear trashing anything that didn't turn on a dime. Top Gear is to cars what MTV did to music.
