I played resi 6 with my sister and we lost our shit because Adas campaign doesn't have a second player stand in, so I was just playing as *agent* , the best character ever. We tried to bullshit a way for him to be in every cutscene but only hidden, like behind stuff. Honestly probably the most fun in that game

Damn, your comparison of RE4 and RE6's pacing really shows the difference in quality between the two games. In RE4, all of the big action set-pieces were earned. For every Cabin Fight or Military Island Attack, you had a half dozen 'catch your breath' and tension building areas, and these areas never outstayed their welcome. The ebb and flow of the game was masterfully done.

In RE5 Chris could stay in an active volcano with no protection gear and don't burn to death. With that level of fire resistance makes sense for him to be weak against water. Chris is like a goron at this point... I know it doesn't makes sense but I have to think of something to sleep at nights.

Also I think the reason resident evil 5 sold so well, was because of the co op feature alone, it was incredibly fun to play through the campaign with a friend, then do a new game plus run with all your upgraded gear, I’ve probably played through the campaign with 5 or 6 different friends online back when it was popular on the xbox 360, and it was really common for random people in your lobby to show you something interesting new or and easter egg you didn’t know about. Like online gamer word of mouth, one person would show you something then you showed your friends when you played with them. We all just kindof forgave the campaign being kindof lack luster until Wesker shows up because having him return is a huge deal.

I'm annoyed you didn't mention the goddamn chess pieces. Those military games have simple XP systems but RE6 only grants you the XP to buy abilities through chess pieces you find in crates and chests. The contents of the crates are totally random as well so you can be in a boss fight, desperately need health/ammo, smash 4 crates open and get nothing but useless XP tokens.

Resident Evil 4's horror is underrated. In spite of how much fun it is and how ridiculous it can get, it still manages to have an oppressive atmosphere that hardly ever stops. Also the Regenerators are still the most terrifying enemies in the series.

After 6 came out the world split into 2 different paths. 1 Where Capcom wised up and created RE7 to return the horror, and one where 7 would star Jake on his quest to fight BOWs

I'd argue that the horror in RE died much sooner than RE5....It died in RE4 when you were in shootout with a Ganados Commando wielding a gatling gun

Regarding the moment horror died, 4 had Ganados on turrets and bow guns, so it did happen before 5. I don't think what 5 did was much worse than 4 there.

I'll never understand why they abandoned the attache case system. I knew something was wrong with where the series was going when they not only abandoned the attache case system but put the shop and inventory management of 4 in between the levels of 5 as if it was an arcade game

This is definitely the best review of RE6, I came back to rewatch this after replaying the game myself and you summed everything up perfectly. I wanna like RE6 so bad because the controls are a lot of fun but goddamn the plot and the structure/ pacing of the game just fights you the entire time. I’ve never played a game that wants you to not like it more than RE6. I’ll have tons of fun in the mercenaries but that’s about the extent of it, when I go to replay any of the campaigns I’m reminded why I don’t replay it ever.

I love this game. I beat it twice. My main problems is by the time you get to the 4th campaign, you kinda get sick of seeing the same locations. I went in this order: leon, chris, jake, ada. I was having a blast all the way until like half of jake's campaing, and I was fully bored when i finally finished Ada's. Ada also doesn't have her own final boss (she gets a part of leons boss) which sucks

The game was fun for couch co-op. sure the story was lame and didnt feel like resident evil. But god damn did i have fun playing it with a friend.

Looking back now. Piers' Death and the first half of Leon's Campaign were the only ones that were memorable for me.

15:05 There is an alternative way, but you can only done it with Jake. There'll be times the chopper will stop on Jake-Sherry level and hover on 1 of 2 tall rooftops. Using Jake, eliminate enemies around the chopper using Remote Bomb or stun them with Flashbang while Sherry give you a cover shot. Climb the rope, reach the pilot, and all done.

I bought this at launch and was disappointed. Years later my friend and I teamed up and we had a blast playing this game over and over. And we will do run every now and again and it’s still a blast. I think I was just expecting the classic resident evil at the time.

So, after completing Leon’s campaign today after finishing Chris’ a while ago and also starting Shery’s today. My thoughts: Cons 1. The story is convoluted and can be hard to follow. 2. Sadly the survival horror aspect of RE is gone at this point and it leans much more to action and I feel it kills the suspense for me. (Why I mean by that is I never felt left in suspense, I was able to predict a lot of the story beats to a T with not much surprise.) Pros 1. I loved playing this multiplayer with my friend, this is how we have been relaxing and just having some fun. 2. I love how some characters have unique weapons that have cool side abilities. 3. I love how all the stories intertwine and create the bigger picture every time you play one of the campaigns 4. I loved a lot of Leon’s campaign with the dark hall ways which almost feel like a survival horror game. All in all. I would t call this a bad game. It’s playable and has a lot of fun with its convoluted mythos. Although in terms of what RE is to me, I would say this isn’t a great RE game. I miss a lot of the survival horror aspects and wish they played more of a role. But I really can’t complain, I didn’t play this at launch so I wasn’t disappointed by it. I am new to the RE franchise and found like the atmosphere of RERemake the best. I have nitpicks about all the games but this one I just can’t hate because I have had to much fun playing it with my friend. If anything, this game is game that should be played with someone for the full experience. I wish people were still online to join us for the boss battles though.

When this came out, my buddy and I played it together. We did Jake's Campaign first and had fun, then Leon's which we both thought was okay, but when we got to Chris's campaign we both got annoyed. It was the water part where I died by falling in and he was just like "Did you drown by touching the edge?" We never finished it beyond the carrier where the controls did suck. It has its moments, but mainly for laughs at how bad it can be.

I find it funny people have so many issues with 6, I enjoyed it as much as the others. Only thing I did not like was the vehicle controls, found it almost impossible to control them on mouse and keyboard.

I just bought this game for 8 bucks.. And have not enjoyed a single moment so far. After buying it a friend of mine told me that he heard from others.. That re6 is recognized as the greatest resident evil game of all time.. I believed it. Then i played it. I have to note that i played re4 first back in 2010 and had nothing to do so i finished it on normal mode about 30 times and then started doing hard mode runs.. Did about 20 of them before attempting knife only runs. Did the village but decided to hell with doing the castle and beyond.. That would have sucked. Then played re5 ALOT with friends and cooped with them during college. Very fun. It's been about 10 years since i played a resident evil game. So naturally i had to try re6 since a friend referred it to me.. And re has impressed me in the past. Seriously though.. Without any outside negative influence coming others about re6 and after playing ALOT of re4 and re5.. Then for me to play re6 and think it sucks.. You know something is wrong with this game. I wanted to deny the critic in me.. But i can't anymore. Though i can't put my finger quite on WHY i don't like this game, i can tell you it is definitely not as good as re4 or re5.. And it shows. I'll finish by saying this.. While playing re6 up till now for the past 2 days i haven't really felt any emotion, nostalgia, care or wonder from playing. Idk either i am a walking void.. Or this game is lacking something that the others had. Only 3 chapters in on leon and i can tell you that i am not gonna contine playing at all.. Unless a friend wants to coop. I don't even feel like doing any of the other character campaigns. Cheers

I played this a bunch back in the day and I still dont think it's that bad but you do make a good point about the campaigns cuz I recall a lot of repeated areas and me saying 'fuck I hate this part' way too often. The mercenaries mode was the tits though. Once you get the herb mixing button combo down it's pretty fast paced and fun, especially with a friend.

Had its moments but the lack of gameplay balance ruined it for me. Having the enemies in Chris/Ada/Jake campaigns mutate with shots pretty much anywhere was so damn stupid and dont even get me started on quicktime events.

7:10 this part on no hope was abysmal and completely changed my opinion of the game. 100% accurate snipers you cant dodge roll to avoid.. and if you get shot, you instantly go down, and slide away from your partner at light speed when you literally have 3 seconds to be revived before a game over. I was going for no deaths so I restarted the chapter every time.. absolutely the mus frustrating thing I have ever played EVER Do love this game tho. I have beaten all the campaigns 3 times each and I have fully finished no hope.

If I have to call Resident Evil 6 something it'd be over-ambitious. They took risks and it didn't pay off. The idea of having people being able to access your game as a zombie to screw your game was kinda cool but fell a bit short. The idea of cross-campaign moments with other players also fell short but was a decent idea in itself. Most of these things would work great if the game was a Resident Evil Outbreak instead. Having to fight humans instead of AI while making makeshift stuff, that's quite cool. I see Resistance is something like that, but idk if there's enough of it, based on the videos I saw.

I played the game for the first time around when the RE4 remake launched, and you hit the nail on the head for my thoughts about it. I honestly didn’t get why critics praised Leon’s campaign and condemning Chris’ when the former felt like it didn’t understand what made the original trilogy great. It felt like they were emulating the experiences like an alien who hasn’t seem horror before. I felt like Chris was better because they knew what they wanted to do with that campaign.

It is stupid nice to hear someone with a head on their shoulders explain how great mechanics and a sloppy gameplay experience and atmosphere can lead to such contrasting viewpoints on a game. All without saying it's a hidden gem or utter trash. Time Killers deserves such a look.

This was really fair. I do quite enjoy the movement and combat, but I admit the game still kinda sucks. However, it's worth noting that the entire thing is co-op, and I found the asymmetrical sections to be really engaging when playing with a friend.

Frankly capcom should repurpose this engine and mechanics for a new dead rising game, is a match made in heaven.

I never realised I hated something so quick in my life. I road my bike for 10 minutes to blockbuster to rent this game. After riding my bike back I played it for 5 minutes, and after 7 button time/mash sequences, I got back on my bike and road another 10 minutes to blockbuster. The only good thing I can say about this game is that it gave me some good exercise for a day.

After all these years of playing re6 on and off again, for the merc mode, I HAD NO IDEA there was a button combo to auto mix herbs! Dx

I love Resident Evil 6 and feel it was a great extension of RE5. At the time it came out I remember feeling the controls were so free and natural and it is a game the featured all my favorite characters. To see Sherry back after so long was awesome as a lifelong fan, I loved the different campaigns. Just have alot of love for 6.

I personally feel that jake and Sherry's campaign was good, great even. And I really hope we get to see more of those two in future installments.

Capcom tried to pack a little for every type of gamer, but ended up keeping all these elements pretty lackluster. I have never judged RE6 as a Resident Evil game because: 1. It is extremely fun and accessible, especially co-op (one of the best co-op experiences on PC). 2. The gameplay mechanic is pretty good and at the end of the game, I CAN'T say they have not put a lot of work into it. It is very polished and optimised and honestly, I can imagine how difficult development must have been with this huge game, compared to others. 3. The story is pretty well told, despite not moving it up for many more times than fingers I have. I mean you start with a companion, you or that companion have reasons to do the next thing, and barely 10 cutscenes later you feel like you're going somewhere story-wise. 4. I jumped in the Resident Evil wagon with Resident Evil 5, which is better (not this long and pretty self-contained) but still not what veteran fans expect (I know now, I have played almost every game, expect the multiplayer stuff...) of a Resident Evil game. I love both games, but I love RE5 more if we're putting these two up for scrutinity. 5. I love that they found a way to include a lot of characters and mostly give meaning to their existence. 6. It still maintains the core idea of Resident Evil... viruses, agents, convoluted details that emerge only later to create the 'whoa, plot twist, ok', but the horror became action, because everything is faster, you do not spend a lot of time in the various locations, you do not have much to manage after the fights, because there is ammo literally everywhere. (there is barely any reason to stop and look around) There is a lot more that I could go on about this, but I will never be able to say that RE6 was a colossal let down or garbage or whatever other critics and players came up with after the game launched and even now. It is a solid game, just not what the fans have been waiting for so long since RE4. I get both sides and again, I can solely claim these because I had a lot of fun with RE6 and I was not deep into the universe when I was playing it. But I read a lot of times many players' confessions about the game being very fun and good to play and for me, most times, that is just enough.

I remember when I picked up the game day one that the camera felt really off because it was positioned too close to the character. When Capcom fixed that in a patch it made the game a lot better. I still need to finish it. Next holiday I will

Literally the only resident evil game i never replayed. 1,2,3, CV, 4, 5, Revelations, 7 and 8 and even 0 I've beaten countless times and I could go back to any of them right now, but 6 I just have zero desire to ever play again. I can't explain exactly why it bores me so damn much but i think you nailed most of it. The RE atmosphere I love just wasn't there at ALL.

To be honest, the part with the regenerator like creatures in the China in the Leon campaign legit actually scared me, seeing their body pieces stumble around, coming after you while you have to complete a puzzle was pretty scary lol.

I liked it when I played it years ago. I liked how the stories intertwined with eachother. And the graphics and design were ahead of its time imo, the game looked great. Leon's martial arts mechanics were cool too. Wish there was more of that horror element to it though
