A "Guild Hideout" and "Custom Guild Uniform" and a "Guild Chat Room" is what this was missing, honestly. I've literally seen Clash of Clans do guild systems that were significantly better than what SOT did because as it currently stands it's just a glorified 6th emissary/company to grind for :T

exactly what i was thinking. other games only allow you to join one guild and that’s fine. they give you chat rooms too, and in clash of clans, you have guild wars (or something like that)

Literally everyone ive recruited to my guild has either stopped playing SoT or doesnt load a guild ship. Leveling a guild is a nightmare with only a few people playing within it. The next frustrating part is the Commendations locked behind fhe guild level. Things we do everytime we play but because the guild isnt level 10, it doesnt count

I leveled my guild from 55 to 67 just this 2x weekend with hourglass pvp and fort of fortunes with guild flag. Its not hard to level to level 10 dude

SoT could really use a central hub area, like the arena tavern mixed with Athena’s hideout. A place to socialize, show off both your pirate and ship cosmetics with your ship docked in the harbor, a place to just hang out and chat / recruit without worrying about pvp.

imagine if there was something like the quest board at outposts but for guilds, could be located on the wall in taverns, you could interact with it to see a list of guilds currently looking for members. And if you want to recruit for your guild you could just interact with the board and put up a listing for your guild, would be awesome i think

I could imagine the Guild Hideout being a massive motivator on its own. Make traveling to it the same as server hopping, and have your ship rise out of the ocean and into an island with a ton of docking space for multi crew meetings. Have "Guild Music" that can be preformed by 8+ players, THE CHAT FUNCTION EVERYONE WANTS, and of course have a Guild Shipwright that deals in exclusive guild cosmetics and discounted repairs (if the guild is high level enough).

im bouta yap alot but i really like the guild hideout idea. i feel like being able to boot up sea of thieves and join your guild hideout would be awesome, and it would be a good way to implement that sailing out of a waterfall idea. you would be able to spawn up to like 3 ships at a time (if 28 people had a ship spawned it would be really cluttered) while having a little ghost animation like when your pirate loads in the title screen, then you could just sail through a waterfall and get put into a server. and having like a npc or button you could press to alert your guild members you wanna play (could be when they boot up sea of thieves or a xbox/game bar notifaction). i feel like having something like guild missions would also be cool, you could see a list of missions on your hideout and you could do them for extra rep. like do ____ mission, or kill ____ number of skeletons. YAP SESSIONS OVER

Guild rings in season 11 would have at least been nice. Imagine if they'd match your colors, and larger rings could house your emblem.

From my personal experience, the guild update failed me in failing to keep my friends wanting to play more sea of thieves. There wasn’t any new incentive for them to be part of a guild and that sucks :(

Lots of great ideas and good observations in here. While I'm good with 3 slots and 24 members, I agree on following improvements: - guild hideout to hang out and form crews - emissary flags should have the guild crest - underwhelming guild ship cosmetics, add customization - guild message board would be great

Id also like to add, with the addition of Playstation, its been difficult to add them as well. If we cant add them from within the game, its not wasy for them to communicate and add friends for them. Most have never used the xbox app. If there was an in game friend list would be easier

Every time I get new members they leave a day after , I tried to recruit people on the Xbox find a group , but I got banned for breaking there terms, idk what I didn’t all I said I’m looking for people to join my guild so people can have players to count on

I always thought guilds are in a weird spot. I think that brining back an old adventure mechanic in the return of the dammed where we had to claim a fortress and raise a flag. Why not raise one for your guild and be able to put loot in those forts. The more loot the better payout for your guild and just another random thought on top of that, make the fortresses more difficult depending on the amount of loot inside as well. could have more waves, more HP, more damage, or hell just have the ability to summon like 2-3 ghost ships around it.

my mates and i recruited through our "local" sot discord, we had to filter out many weirdos and kick many inactive players along the way, but now that were lvl 1000 and have all the comms we just dont care anymore

Guilds really fell short my guild was maxed before kicking a few but even trying to communicate via discord is a bust something game would be much better not to mention the crap way keeping up with guild member contributions and who is actually sailing. So much to expand on here!

I would like to see a rep bonus depending on the size. Smaller the guild the bigger the bonus. Personally I would like a guild with just me and my friends which could be max off 10 people.

There should be unlockable Guild Crests tied to Guild-level commendations and we should be able to slap crests onto everything. Bandanas, Masks, Hats, Gloves, even on guild-colored jackets, armbands and capes. And the ships should have Guild Hulls, Sails, Wheels and Capstans and a collection of ship decorations too.

Not only did the Guild update fail, the Season 10 failed. Remember when Guilds released and then the very next month Skull of the Siren Song (which also failed) didn't give any guild progress? Season 10, the super season which was the content of the originally planned Season 10 and Season 11's content combined! Guilds and Skull of Siren Song and Safer Seas took so long to develop that Season 9 lasted 7 months. To put it into perspective, 5 separate seasons started in 2021. What a joke.

better part would be if you could level all 3 guilds as one and too have some missions maby from hard too easy or better 2 sloops in a hourglass as example that would be 4 players but in an other context and if the sloop sank you cant help the other sloop 2 players would die and make it hard for the other group that would be nice as guild aktivity

i think like 150-200 player guilds would be great. Then u have a proper community cuz even in a full guild you can still quite often be the only one on at a time. And Arena guild battles would be GREAT. and with the guild hideout you could TDM in there with guild members

In short, Guilds was a failure because the developers added guilds, but did not make them user-friendly for players, and as a result, to manage a guild you need to put in more effort than the profit you get from it. Perhaps this is all due to the lack of experience of the developers, or maybe the developers were afraid that if they make guilds convenient, they will become too easy and players will somehow abuse the mechanics of the game, or maybe guilds were never planned as something big within the game.

Also, guild emissary gives you much less reward for selling loot, then other emissaries, while you are displayed for the whole server like Reaper's Bones

You’re only visible to all players at Level 5, and the tradeoff is you can sell at any outpost.

They should do like GTA V did and have a crew page where it rotates potential guilds for players to join whilst showcasing what the guilds are about. Plus they should allow us to have crew ships in the server with us, let us all sail together or fill slots in servers.

I think the root of the problem is there will never be a community feeling when there is no actual in game guild system, just a glorified friends menu with some cool rewards. Im not saying there should be guild ships on the same server or anything but the system was doomed from the beginning because of this. It’s literally just a friends menu and it always will be the only thing I can think of is something akin to clan wars in clash Royale having your guild do certain tasks to progress towards a common goal in a race against a specific other guild (and maybe spawning in the same server as this guild like a hourglass battle when possible). Another thing would be aligning your guild with one trading company and having a faction war that is affected by all players like in for honour. It needs actual in game features for it to feel like anything more then a friends menu

I leveled my guild with a mate till distinction 3, and that made the Guild very attractive for players looking or a guild on discord when they came out. We’re distinction ten now and had a full Guild, but let me tell you, that was a hell of a grind. Also constantly kicking and recruiting, just for 85% of the Guild to be inactive at all times. My mate and I did 900lv out of the 1000 completely by ourselves. Absolute shit system

I agree whit most of your points, except make the guilds for more people, there is a reason for guils to be around 30 and it is for a social rule, in small comunities you need the chance for every member to talk and interact whit others, but you also need estructure. There are social experiments that show that ONE lider can be in charge of a group around 25 to 30 people whitout lossing the control of it. This is allso the reason there are around 20 students in a classroom. I play in a very small guild and we already got problems with some members, it is not easy to find a good guild, but make it more bigger is not a good solucion either

I think if they Allow 2 boats from the same guild to join the Same server together, it would be the best way to get players to engage in guild features... i have more than 4 people in my guild that wanna sail together and make our own tiny flotilla... because currently, zero community functions are incentivized by guilds

@@wornoutsneaker capping off at a max of two guild boats (8 players max) per server would prevent them from taking all 6 server slots... and they already possess an alliance system, so there's currently (game design wise) nothing stopping people from it if they really wanna take over a whole server.

I agree with everything but pure customization with how fast it would be used for racism and other things I mean call of duty use to only allow basic shapes and everyone knows how that went preset customization with lots of options I would definitely say would be a plus but free customization would be a nightmare

As much as guilds are an underdeveloped feature, I can’t lie and say I haven’t had a blast with it. It took a while, but I was able to get an actually successful guild going, and I’ve got a genuine sense of community going on with them. It’s pretty great, we just passed distinction 1 recently. So yeah, I completely understand the gripes with season 10, but me and those 23 others are having a blast with it

It would be ok as a normal 3 month season but after a 7 month filler season it was just underwhelming. For me and others the game actualy got worse because they messed up gunplay by adding a new ugly hitmarker and removing quick swap.

i don’t think so either. it’s unfortunate that these updates come out, and like skull of siren song, completely flop and don’t get touched again. it would be beneficial for rare to hire a team to build upon previous seasons (though that might not fit in their budget)

I suppose that it’s catering to the SOT Discord Server Groups. But the whole filterless “in game” match-making has always been a disappointment. Involving seemingly endless restarts until you (might) run into a semi-compatible crew. On top of that, Rare have done everything since “The Hungering Deep” to encourage conflict over camaraderie. So the Guild system isn’t a failure. It just adds little to the game for most players.

That's totally true, the Hungering Deep required more than one crew to summon the megalodon. So they had to cooperate in order to summon the Hungering one in 2018. Cursed Sails added alliances which gave players the option to be friendly and get some payment when and ally sells loot. But after that, everything directly or indirectly will encourage PvP over cooperation. Any new piece of loot that is created for the game is a new reason to sink and steal (Skull of Ashen winds, Skull of Siren Song, Chest of Fortune, Horn of Fair winds) and that's because other crews already did the hard work of finding it and the other want to skip that part and go directly to selling. I get it, it's Sea of Thieves and not Sea of Friends, however, the trailers always make it look like pirates are enjoying themselves emoting, doing silly stuff, and being ftiendly with different crews, when in reality, of inside the game PvP is the most common form of interactions with other players. It's usually blunderbuss or cannonballs first, and questions later. Players can choose to be either friendly or hostile towards other crews, however in my experience friendly interactions are so rare that I grew paranoid and avoid any ship in render distance even if they don't look like a threat. And I personally don't find it thrilling or fun, but rather stressful. That's why when I want to have fun I go to Safer Seas, and when I want to get gold or grind xp I go to High Seas and exclusively do voyages in the Devil's Roar so We can avoid other players. The core gameplay will make any new piece of loot a new motive to sink another ship instead of being friendly and work towards a common goal.
