I’ll be neutral here. The goal was called correctly no goal. If you’re a true hockey expert like me you would agree that there’s not enough evidence to show that the puck was over the line during the play before it was called dead. Second the refs did make some really bad calls but they weren’t calling much, unless there were penalties that couldn’t be bypassed like flicking the puck outta play will get you a delay every time. Maple leafs just weren’t physical enough. They beat them selves and had high expectations to win it all this year is why they crumbled. Florida was playing with no pressure also sitting with a 3-0 lead in the series.

It was a goal but there wasn’t enough proof to overturn the no goal call on the ice. If the call had been goal and they went to video review it would have stood as a goal because we just can’t see the puck across or not across the line.

The refs 100% figured into the Leafs loss in game 5. The non-calls were abundant. Gouda Cheese Cake’s interference allowing the winning goal for one, Reilly’s goal called back, high sticking to the face missed TWICE! The fact that the commentators were doing everything but swearing on live TV specifically shows that the calls against the Leafs were all bogus. The "delay of game" call was not delay of game, the delay of game call MUST be when the puck is dumped down the ice from the defensive zone where it goes over the glass without touching anything after the dump, NOT being slapped out at the bench where it wasn't even high enough to go over any glass, again, the commentators made that point extremely clear, call after call, the refs were shit through and through and they shouldn't even be reffing for 6 year old's playing pond hockey, let alone an NHL game. The Leafs lost because they refused to play "playoff hockey" by cross checking people on the necks, refused to pick up game misconducts penalties at the buzzer, holding the defender's stick in OT. One thing that I am just tired of at this point is people blaming refs for everything (not saying you are, you didn’t really in the video). It’s like, every single series, every single year, since the dawn of the sport maybe, people on both sides complain that the refs are either out to get them, or are just completely incompetent all of the time. The way I always land in that is that if the team can’t get past a couple potential missed calls, a “maybe goal” not being allowed, or a bad call, then the team doesn’t t deserve to win. I'm not a stat guy, but this one is a standout; the Panthers had the puck in the Offensive zone for 31 seconds in the 1st period and scored twice. The Panthers played chippier hockey for the most part. Most people in hockey know the refs don't blow the whistle as much, yet the Leafs don't get chippier. How many goals did the four guys who eat up so much of the salary (cap space) get? If you eat up that much space, you have to produce many points.

The puck DID cross the line, but the refs whistle blew before it crossed. Tough, brutal call, but it was correct. Sportsnet, to my knowledge, didn't have the live replay from in the net like TNT did. The 5G goal cam caught the refs whistle before the puck crossed the line. Before that replay was shown on the TNT broadcast, I thought it was a good goal.

The puck did cross the line before the whistle as well, the video just didn't show it. Look at Montour's reaction, he knew it was in but Florida got lucky that the ref didn't see it and no camera angle could confirm it.

Toronto had lost the series by the end of game 1. They are soft and have motivational weaknesses that present themselves during each and every playoff season.
