Congrats on the new whip Forrest. I've never tried Spank bars but they sound awesome. Good honest review and comparison.

Thanks Sage! I’ve always had issues with finger numbness - spank bars don’t solve the issue but they def help

Beautiful looking ride. I love the all mountain category of bikes- so versatile. I take my Bronson everywhere, including Snowshoe. I used that Ibis sale to pick up an Oso. Man is it fun. See you on the trails soon as weather breaks. 🤙

Noticed that first wooden feature 30 seconds in - Blue Ridge School is rowdy. Also, I was looking at this exact bike/color - look forward to watching!

I hope you are able to get what you want for the V2. The market is pretty low on used bikes now - price wise. It's purely aesthetic but I am not a fan of the new logo nor color designs. Love my Star Destroyer Grey with the beautiful gold Ibis on the front. But my V2 came with the 38 and X2. Though I don't understand enough nor do I have a good idea on feel for how they should be set up. Probably way wrong. Maybe in 2024 I will finally take it in to a bike shop to have them help me set it up... Enjoy the bike! As you already know, the Ripmo is a great ride.

I have the original Ripmo in a L they definitely should come with 170 cranks. I think mine is under 31lbs with good tires. I also have a Transition Spur which can handle just about all our trails in Montana and is so much faster up hill. A Fox 38 sounds like overkill unless you spend the majority of your time at the bike park. I see a trend towards better geometry and less travel. Thanx for posting the video. We are heading to Moab next week.

Enjoy Moab! I had a blast there this summer… So my ripmo does have 170mm cranks but I figured out that the float x2 sits lower/deeper in the travel vs the Kitsuma coil I had on my v2 which I think it’s what is contributing to extra pedal strikes. I haven’t had time to mess with the shock pressure too much to see if I can tune it better.

Actually was wondering why you upgraded. Makes sense with the suspension components you were looking to install anyway. Hopefully you can move that V2. I think this may be one of the few instances where your height is working against you.

Yea … size xl is a little tougher but I’ve never had trouble selling a bike before …. the market is so flooded with super cheap bikes that it’s gonna be tough

How was your experience been buying from N+1? My local Ibis dealer isn't amazing and I'm looking at a N+1 exclusive build that is a better value than what my lbs is willing to do on a Ripmo order. How much assembly did the bike need on arrival and how well was it packaged?

They were great on the front end - Stavros was super responsive. They dont have all builds in stock so I was a little surprised that I had to wait 3 weeks to get my bike after I placed my order bc they had to wait for the frame to ship from ibis but otherwise they were awesome and def offer a great build for the price. Assembly was minimal when I got the bike. Attached and adjust handle bars. Put on front wheel. Screw in derailleur and go! Also check out jensonusa - they have a few great builds right now and bike will ship quickly if it’s in stock - same assembly experience

What's your saddle height from crank center to top of saddle? I'm 6'2" with 35.5" inseam so probably OK but curious how close I am to the seat tube collar.

Hello, I too have this same bike, but in black. Love the bike, but I kept going back and forth between the ripmo v2s and the yeti sb140. I see where you did a PR on the yeti sb130, and you spoke very highly of the yeti. When I rode sugar on my stumpjumper, I was looking for more bike, so that pushed me towards the ripmo. Mostly I ride the charlotte nc area, and was wondering if the yeti 130 would have been better for around here. I wanted a do it all bike, so I picked the ripmo. What is your opinion between the yeti and ripmo? Did you feel like it takes more energy to push the ripmo over the yeti? Do you feel the yeti is faster? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Man, they are really close - I thought the yeti felt stiffer and faster but less plush and poppy - if I mainly rode in Charlotte I’d probably go with the yeti - but you can’t go wrong - especially if you ever go to Pisgah - I’d lean a little more towards the ripmo but both are AWESOME bikes

Thank you for the reply. I have a friend who is debating whether to get a yeti as well. He has a ripmo v1 and santa cruz hightower v1. He loves the SC, and how it feels on the local trails. He had the newest hightower, and hated it. All the newer bikes seemed to be getting to heavy and are more enduro geared. I personally wanted more xc/trail with longer travel. Like the older hightower were. I tried to get my ripmo as light as possible, I set it up with ergon grips and seat, ibis s35 carbon rims on i9 hubs, ibis carbon handlebars, slx 165 cranks, (note: slx cranks are lighter than xt cranks) wolftooth oval 32t chainring, xtr cassette, xtr chain, xt shifter and derailleur. Comes in at 30.8 lbs without pedals. Changing out the fox 38 for a 36, and float x2 for float x, could save another 1.5 lbs.
