I crashed and smashed a crash bar; did they do the job?
A quick review of the outcome of a crash that I had had in the Grampians Victoria Australia, let's look at the damage.

I have the same bars they have saved my bike many times. I wish I had rib crash bars I’m currently nursing my ribs too from a really small drop.

Try not to laugh, sneeze or cough. These crash bars ger a bit of a bad wrap by some but for me they certainly do the job. And I have subscribed to your channel, and will check out some of your videos. They look interesting.

Yes, and I felt every one of them. It was worse later that night.

your a trooper mate love your videos mate heal soon my friend. I have a vstrom and crashed a few times have bent one side would like some advise on how to straiten if possible

I think there is a misunderstanding amongst many that if your crash bars bend, they have failed. I think you prove here that isn’t true - you hit the deck quite hard and rode home to ride another day.

Definitely agree, they did the job for what they were designed for, I wonder how much damage there would have been if the bars were not fitted, and the bike took all the impact without a chance of the inertia and impacted being absorbed. The impact damage on the bars is similar to how impact and crumple zones work on a car body/chassis.
