Today the boys get a little ROWDY and Michael gets the run down on the smack, the crack, and the whack from Dr. Seuss himself. After that the boys jump into Baltic, the brand that made quite a splash at this years Only Watch event after they revealed their new micro rotor (microtor) movement based watch. After that the big topic, did Vacheron Constantin replace the Rolex Explorer in terms of practicality for an explorer watch with their Everest Collection?
After that buzz topic is over the boys talk about the watch from MB&F with 8 lug holes! Does Christian love it or does he want to give it a crack?
Finally the boys round everything out with Grand Seiko and Seiko. Grand Seiko released quite a peculiar watch recently and Michael and Christian talk through it AND THEN Michael tells Christian he was right the entire time...

I love you gringa but couldn’t disagree more. The VC is 5x the retail price of the Rolex Explorer II. It’s like the people who by the completely tricked out new Land Rover to go off road but won’t even drive them on rainy days. The Explorer II isn’t cheap but it’s inexpensive enough, and under the radar enough for a Rolex, these days that you can still Explore with it.

@@zulu6ix290 You are right, when ever I cycle/mountain bike - in reality I use my Garmin Enduro despite owning an explorer and overseas - I love mechanical but for real world exploring where any real danger involved it would always be GPS

few years after getting into watches, I found my dads old watch. Forgotten by my parents, and in terrible condition. Its a small Seiko quartz dress watch. My dad bought this after coming to the US for the first time from the Dominican Republic. I had it fixed and had a new battery put in, and it has become my favorite watch among my Rolex, Omega, etc. I absolutely think a quartz watch can hold the significant emotional value we usually associate to mechanical watches. In many ways the piece itself isn't important as much as the story/person associated to it.

So today I listen to your video while : Drinking beer and vodka. Removing the AC from the window. Harvesting the absonthe plants from my balcony for infusing them in vodka and forgetting the absinthe vodka for two years before drinking. Fortunately, I have bottles from two years ago that just came ripe for drinks in my cabinet. I'll probably switch watches a couple of times, don't know which one I'll wear yet. GS quartz movements are all metal and fully serviceable. They also have an "air tight" cabin, meaning the battery can be changed without exposing the movement to air of any kind. The service life for their movements are up to 50 years, supposedly. I'd gladly own a GS Quartz at some point.

Man you guys are hilarious love the story’s and camaraderie between you two. I remember asking a girl out once similar to your story. I asked her out for Valentine’s Day and in Canada where I live across from Detroit we still have some snow on the floor, I was in grade 7 and I showed up to school with chocolate and waited at the buss stop and asked her and she was so nice about but was basically like no I’m dating your cousin lol and still took my chocolate lmao...worst part about it was my cousin is older and made fun of me for the longest time. 15:54, Rolex doesn’t back exploration for the sake of discovery anymore, but for the sake of safeguarding the planet or conserving the oceans-“Perpetual Planet.” And for that, I believe Rolex has done a lot.

$20K for the Nakagawa is ludicrous. The same movement is in the Hermes Slim for $7000. Sure, the finishing on the Nakagawa is really nice but I doubt that increases the order price of the movement from Vaucher all that much.

Great video, but honestly speaking the VC is 4-5 times the price of the explorer. That’s like saying the new G wagen is competing with a wrangler. They’re definitely not “competing” pieces.

No, they did not kill the Explorer. The VC is a great watch, but let’s be brutally honest, no other watch brand is going to Kill any of Rolex’s Stainless Steel offerings. The One Watch that could kill the Explorer isn’t made anymore. It is the Omega: Seamaster/Railmaster/Aqua Terra. Yes, it is all three, and it is super clean and it can stand on its own, and not be accused of being an Explorer Clone.

LOL talking about GS quartz like it's new... they never stopped making high end quartz watches. The 9F quartz movement is just as awesome as any of their mechanical or spring drive movements and they've been churning them out for years.

Two lugs holes isn't a new thing actually. MING watches have used 2 lug holes to fit regular straight straps or curved straps, which changes the look completely. There are other microbrands that are doing it too. Also, Omega, Glycine, Alexander Shorokhoff and other brands have used the 2 lug hole system to accommodate bracelets or straps.

I have a VC overseas as my main daily watch - black dial - the three straps and how easy they are to change makes it perfect for me! I do however also have a white dial explorer - when out and about camping or something - the explorer is much better than the overseas. Its more legible and better lume also it costs 30% of the VC so less worried about covering it in mud etc!

Ive spent last 3 years trying to convince all of my non watch obsessive friends what makes Grand Seiko movements so special and high value for money....$3000 standard quartz? There has to be more not discussed here.

Yeah it was contagious. I think we all broke out our favorite bottle watching this episode. I had a half a bottle of Irish Cream and put on my favorite Omega. It was fun!

The girlfriend portion was hilarious. I was 50 years old and (I) broke up with my girlfriend. This was my first relationship after a divorce. When I finally convinced my girlfriend that yes, I was done with her, she wanted to make sure that it was a mutual break-up. I guess this is important to women to save face or integrity. For crying out loud. She was a 47 year old woman. The whole conversation reminded me of something out of Jr. High School. Then I bought a Swiss Automatic Watch to celebrate. Drinking for days! Best move ever.

Your numbers seem to be a little out on the KN Murakumo - US$20k without tax - the Patek5196 for example is around US$50k - same aesthetic ... not sure exactly what you are otherwise getting at

That MB&F lug hole story ain't anything special. My $400 glycine airman had 2 holes per lug. Guess it's only a big deal if the watch is luxury. 🙄

Totally a Rolex Explorer killer, but it’s a shame it’s a ‘limited edition’ so us mere mortals with the $$ to buy have no realistic access to them directly from the boutique. Grey market prices will be exaggerated.

Hopefully your title is purely Clickbait or are you honestly comparing a mass produced Rolex Explorer can be compared in anyway to a holy Trinity VC limited edition of only 150 pieces and six times the price tag. I couldn’t even begin to imagine how many hundreds of thousands Rolex 214270 have been produced but either way it worked and I clicked. I took it as a joke and don’t believe that you could possibly be serious about mentioning these 2 timepieces in the same sentence. Or are u really wondering if the 150 people allowed to purchase this watch might have possibly been in a conundrum of which watch the purchase. There’s no relation whatsoever other than the fact they are both themed mountain climber watches one for wealthy people and the other for 1% of 1%’s.
