Two anonymous women in Atlanta are fighting back against the private parking industry’s practice of booting cars. They argue that the practice is predatory, and they are going viral online for removing the boots for drivers at a lesser fee than the parking companies.

So, taking possession of someone's vehicle is ok, but removing the boot is "trespass"? I'd be disgusted by any police officer who made this arrest, and any prosecutor who didn't immediately move to dismiss.

The previous video indicated the APD said it was not illegal to have the key or remove the boot as long as the boot is not damaged by the person removing it. Now the APD is saying it is illegal to remove the boot. So which is it?

If you own a business you need to find a way for your customers to find parking. Maybe you tried to piggy back on another business’ spaces. That’s messed up too. Because your business was dingy and you can’t afford to place your business at a place with adequate spaces for customers doesn’t make booting wrong. It’s makes you a free loading scumbag that is Ill prepared to be in business

If you listen carefully they didn't say it was illegal to remove the boot. They worded it in a way to scare people. They said removing the boot can lead to charges like trespassing or property theft. Basically you can remove the boot but you cant steal the boot or damage it. And the lot owner could press charges for trespassing if they can detain you.

It’s very prevelant by Piedmont Park and the practice is scandalous. This is why we don’t go downtown anymore.

I don’t have a problem with the Boot Girls and I applaud them because it’s ridiculous with these parking lot owners. But a Doordash driver who is just picking up an order?? C’mon y’all!

Boots and barnacles have no place outside an impound lot. If a car is worked on/towed away, parked and is awaiting pickup, boot it and leave it. If a car is just parked somewhere, then you're just being an extortionate prick using these.

I personally feel if a private company thought that they had the right to boot my privately-owned vehicle in place, I have the right to cut their boot off with a K-12 saw and charge them the cost of the carbide blade.

They have a truck stop in Phenix City, AL., they are putting boots on trucks that park in their lot and don't pay the fee to park. They charge $500 to remove the boot. A lot of drivers arrive at truckstop at night and don't want to walk 300 yards at night with no lighting. Scared of Animals and Theives.

Booting cars can be a violation of the 4th amendment. Chalking cars are considered unconstitutional by one federal court. This is no different.

I grew up in Albany GA. I was going through chronic health problems (heart enlargement from high blood pressure, etc) when I was in downtown Atlanta about 18 years ago. I had no medical insurance which caused all the health problems. I was given a police citation to appear in court because someone hit my minivan from behind at a stoplight and pushed it into the car in front of me. I paid $10 to park in a lot downtown, then realized that cars were being booted in that lot (I had never heard of a boot!) and other cars were being directed to park behind me and block me in. There was NO WAY I was going to risk being booted and/ or blocked in for who knows how long. I had already figured out that there was non of the typical Southern hospitality inside Atlanta or Decatur. I told them to let me out of there, and as broke as i was, I didn't even try to get my money back. It's too much craziness for me! Even though my husband and I are much better off financially, I just stay away from downtown Atlanta now. Lithonia is much less crazy.☹️

Easier to invest $25 in a tubular lockpick. Can open boots all day long. Plus its so dang easy to use, even easier than rake-picking a normal lock.
