I have always made content throughout my professional career, however, it has always been for someone else. In May 2020 I decided that it was time to create something for myself. Football Manager has always been a game that I have loved so wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the tips and tricks that I've learnt!

Context though… this game could be a league match that dosent massively affect the table and you might be playing a cup final next and not want to risk injury. Rare but definetly a useful feature

Well, if you're winning like 4-0 or you have a cup final next week and you dont want to risk it, its useful. Not often needed to be used but just there in case.

Did this in an FA Cup final. My captain was very tired, but I needed to make sure he didn't get injured ahead of the Champions League final the following week, so with the game won at 3-0, I took him off and I finished the game with 10 men. Still won 3-0. However, I believe if this were to happen in real life, there would be a lot of complaints about lack of respect for the opposition and all that.

Nope. The opponent will change from the centre to the wings, and will take some youngsters in, and just let them run like Park. Let the Wall rush over the weakest side! Their only job is to disorder your last piece of tactic. 8 play from the book, and 2 will create the free rooms. Wouldnt be the first time that the arrogant First Tier loses against 'the smaller team'.

Yes, but did you know that in extra time, when you receive an additional substitution, you can add a new player to the field by drag and drop without substituting another player (and playing man down) if you have taken off another player earlier due to an injury or tiredness.

You could turn the tempo down or change their role i guess, if you want them to not use as much energy

Engage him as a Def Sweeper. The German word was Ausputzer oder Vorstopper. Only job to clear the ball. Don't counter attack!

Why would you use this to play with 10 men???? Better off leaving them on and giving them a rest or light training or miss a game or 2 after....

If you're already winning by a huge margin, why not? Your star players won't have to rest for the next match, or you won't be worrying about him getting injured, or maybe he would be suspended for the next match if he get a yellow meanwhile the next match is a big match?

Have you seen managers do that in real life? I haven't. Playing with less players will get your team more vulnerable to chances against. And actually.... a clean sheet does a lot more for morale than a 7-1

@@theportugueselegend funny how you compared a game to real life. People tends to exploit features on a game where you don't get the same consequences as in real life. When you're talking about morale, yes 7-0 and 7-1 maybe different for the team morale irl. But on FM? A big win is still a big win. There is no difference in morale whether you win 7-0 or 7-1

@@hafidhadhiet Uhhh.... the game is supposed to be a simulation of what happens in real life, of course I would compare them. And yes, they get a morale boost with a clean sheet, related to youth development and contract bonuses. I'm not openingly criticizing the option to do it, I'm just saying it's not very true to life and, like the guy above said, a light training schedule and off days can do wonders for your players.

@@theportugueselegend that's why i marked it as "exploit". Even tho it's a simulation for real life football, there is something that you can exploit out of the game. Remember when gegenpress is OP on previous FM? When you can just copy-paste high intensity tactics with any team and overachieved with that team? You can't use this irl with any team unless you're big teams like liverpool. This is what i called exploit. You can't compare some of these cases to real life. A big win is already a big morale boost. Personally i would take off my key player on the last minutes if getting a yellow would suspend him for the next big match. Rather lose a clean sheet than losing an upcoming 3 points.

Ever played soccer IRL in a smaller Amateur League? Absolutely guess not! 🙄 Why do you believe you see so many times a player standing in the offline, doing nothing instead of participating. Yep, exactly thats why! He is exhausted, and can't get changed.
