One of my fav details with Misko's quest is his hideout is surrounded by stealth granting mushrooms which will come in very handy for thieves

I have to mention that I played botw in Russian.. And this quest is really mind blowing in my language. The riddle in English: "The little twin steps over the little river. My cave rests above that river’s source." The riddle from the russian version: "A young bridge appeared over the river, and in its upper reaches a white dragon roars at night". What's wrong with the translators? For hours and hours I have been trying to find a bridge that didn't look as old as the others. I searched across all the places where three dragons flew. I tried to guess which dragon was considered to be white. Maybe Farosh? Or Naydra? It's definitely not a Dinraal. And I was able to solve it only after a look into the English text of the quest.

Its not the Russian translation that is bad, but the English one. The English translation of Botw dumbed down many things, this riddle is just one of them. The other localisations also have the white dragon part in it. The white dragon is the foam of the waterfall that is at the source of the river.

I can imagine a hilarious interaction between Link and Zelda after BotW: Zelda: You said that these were stolen by this Misko? Link: Yup. And I solved his riddles and found 'em all. Zelda: Neat. What about the SECOND journal found in the Eastern section of Deya Lake (located North East of Lake Hylia, before reaching the Dueling Peaks)? You know...the one listed as "EX 2"?

I feel like this theory somewhat contradicts itself. You said that they had an extremely simple riddle that they must not have been trying to solve, because it's so easy that they must've already known the solution. But then go on to say that they give that riddle as a test to determine if someone is worthy of the title of misko, the great bandit. That would be a pretty low bar

I'd have gone with Misko noticing that this guy eavesdropping on them looks a lot like Link from the stories he's heard, maybe the only one that can defeat that source of constant peril of Misko's stomping grounds, and decided to indirectly supply the dude with one of his stashes.

Oh, I thought Misko was going to be a Zora, since Zora canonically live over 100 years and the first treasure is at the top of a waterfall, which Zora's can swim up. My theory regarding the twins, since the treasure you get doesn't amount to 100 rupees if you sell it (If I remember correctly), is they're selling you the riddle to scam you out of your cash.

To give a counter point to them not being able to solve the riddle. They don't have the ninja magic powered ipad telling them the names of the twin bridges. As far as I'm aware the names aren't written anywhere in the world and I doubt anyone remembers the names of two shoddy wooden bridges 100 years after the world died.

The only problem I have with this theory is that the game is full of easy riddles that people can't seem to solve. The twins aren't any different from them. Lack of education in the last 100 years I guess? Kass is the only one who I think is faking it because he seems determined to play dumb around Link until he is sure that he is the Champion.

Kass isn’t dumb He physically is unable to solve the puzzles. The two holes would be solvable by him, if he was trained in archery, which he wasn’t. etc

It's also possible that Misko lived more recently and actually stole the relics after the Calamity, but whatever vault or museum the relics were in either collapsed or was blocked by rubble afterward, like much of the rest of the castle.

Honestly, the idea that these random strangers pass on the title of a super rad thief is both hilarious, but also kinda cool, since they just so happened to pass it onto another legend, which is the hero. I dunno why, I just imagine them just being all happy to share the title to the next generation, only to be told later that “DID YOU NOT KNOW WHO THAT WAS?! THAT WAS THE GREAT HERO, WHO SAVED US ALL”, and them just kicking themselves.

You know, something has been eating away at me for a while now. We all know that Dark Beast Ganon can be harmed by sacred weapons or ancient arrows... So has anyone ever tried throwing the Sword of Six Sages at any of his glowing weakspots? I'd test this myself, but I don't have a Ganondorf amiibo.

Skill share sounds like something that would be in a RPG games that would alow the playable character to share his or hers skills with other party members and the are able to share their skills with the playable character

I like the theory, but I think there might be a better explanation for the brothers not solving the riddle. They made it to the rivers source, but there wasn't anything there. Keep in mind, players see loose rocks and think to bomb, but normal people likely wouldn't see anything as out of place.

I actually didnt know the riddles answer. I just happen to have found a cave, 6 weeks later irl, above a small waterfall and then it hit me so hard when the screen said “Misko, The Great Bandit, complete”.

Misko sounds like masko which has mask in it it. So maybe it’s a play on words and the bandit is like a descendant of the happy mask salesman?

My impression was they were just selling random riddles that they either heard or thought up to travelers to make a quick buck (they even use many swindler’s tactics) by using the Misko story to say, “Hey, the treasure you might get would be way better!” and Link just gets lucky by getting a riddle that actually points to Misko’s treasure hoard. When Link gets the treasure, if you tell them they dismiss the possibility which I believe is like a way for them to try and keep the con going. “That guy didn’t actually find Misko’s treasure, he was lying!”

What if they weren't passing down the title of Misko, but Misko the bandit originated as a concept JUST AFTER the castle fell to try to rescue artifacts and relics that Link the Fallen Hero (from 100 years ago) may need when he awakens or is resurrected? BotW is full of figures from the past that are all too willing to assist who they think the hero is. The quest COULD be a trial, but only to ascertain whether an individual is worthy to be the next Misko OR the hero themselves.

I can relate to not having enough rupees. Hyrule is an expensive place to live. Zelda needs to pay Link a little bit more, so I can afford bomb arrows and side quests 🤣

I think its also fair to point out that there are hints that people in the current day in BotW's Hyule do brave and pillage Hyrule Castle from time to time. There are several people who have accurate information about whats in the Castle and the only way to really get that is for some one to have gone in and seen it.
