This happened to a guy I knew. He thought she was in love with him because she was stroking his ego. Sadly after they got married she switched up and he went through a divorce. Everything he worked for is now hers and her boyfriend that she had all along. Sad.

Have you ever thought of forming a class action lawsuit about marriage fraud? I was a victim (and now survivor) of marriage fraud. I found out after he came to the US from Jamaica. He has the 10 year green card, and going through something with immigrations. And I reported him and the embassy also interceded. We are going through the divorce now, thank God! 10 years of my life were wasted yet I’m much happier and stronger with him out of my life. I hate that someone else has or will go through this facade. Pls let me know your thoughts, thank you!

It happens a lot because system has loophole. Foreign spouse simply use American citizen for their green card benefit pretending they came with good faith but all they want is to entry is USA. why? Because compare to many third world country American income is way to higher. Person who make hardly $200 a month in their country start making $4000 a month in usa for same job is what their motive. The system loophole they use against American citizen is simply call cops against you and lie thay you been abusive without any proof of abuse they will get restraining order on American citizen and boom they got their greencard. It is very unfortunate that American citizen not able to get justice in these types of cases.

Thanks for the info! Short story then a Question…. I actually had to file this report of fraud against my ex foreign spouse (divorced now). The ex left me THE day conditional residency was approved and then divorced me right after what would’ve been our 2 year anniversary. Asked me on multiple occasions to lie and say we lived together when we didn’t - to which I said no. We literally only lived together for 2 months out of the entire 2 year marriage - ex made excuse after excuse as to why we couldn’t live together. I filed a report of suspected fraud with USCIS when we separated and then with NVC when the divorce was filed. I was very detailed. The lawyer who represented us both in the beginning had nerve to ask my permission to continue providing assistance with the finalizing of the citizenship, lol. I publicly said no. My question is how (if at all) will I know the outcome of the ex’s application? I’ve blocked them on all platforms and even had to threaten their friends with charges if they contacted me again on behalf of my ex. Just wondering if I will be further contacted by an official personnel? I am not an I’ll wishing person but it would be so vindicating if deportation occurred. It’s in my opinion the least I could ask for after all this excuse of a human put me through…

Definitely withdraw your sponsorship AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, but if you didn't have a prenup and/or postnup, it's fairly likely he'll be entitled to a "fair division" of whatever money or property you gained during the marriage. Do a consultation with a lawyer in your area who knows your state's laws, because the laws vary by state. Definitely do that soon, though, the longer you stay married the more likely he can get more assets, and possibly alimony as well. Good luck!

I met my foreign wife on a dating website while she lived with her mother in Virginia on a expired work visa. She left while removing conditions for her 10 year green card via false order of protection and removed our 5 year old boy with her..Finding out shortly she forged payroll checks of my employees and mine. Draining out all monies over the course 7 years with the help of her mom and brother. I've filed reports with the USIC, local county attorney and trying to get some kind of claims from my banks that is too long to get. I filed for divorce and picked up a lazy attorney that couldn't even win a jurisdiction for my Son. Now her attorney seems to be sucking up my hard earned stolen money against me in family court making her looking like the victim which I'm the victim. I have all the documents to prove I was used used for greencard and my companies monies. I don't know what to do now because I can't find a attorney that knows this type of legal situation?? I can't continue this fight to much longer. I have no direction anymore.

There needs to be more protection for US Citizens who fall victim. The government needs to implement more safeguards in the event that suspicion has arised. Like sending the foreign spouse back to their country for a specified amount of time and if during that time the two can work on the marriage then maybe they can return. If the foreigner doesnt put forth the effort then let them stay in their home country. At least this gives American citizens a chance to decide if they want to keep the person or not and if not then they dont have to be subject to 10 years of financial responsibility for a scammer.

@@Dina0180 Thank you for your thought. However, I will just paste this here for your information: "Yes. If you have had an extramarital affair within the Good Moral Character period that is required in order to naturalize (usually the past five years), it is possible you might not qualify for U.S. citizenship' Whether you qualify in spite of your extramarital affair will depend on the facts and details of what happened. While an extramarital affair does not automatically disqualify you, examiners at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) are taught to ask more detailed questions if they find evidence of an extramarital affair. If your affair led to the breakup of your marriage within the Good Moral Character period, they will likely deny your application".

As someone who has been in a similar situation (spouse moved out THREE DAYS after getting his GC), once they have the 10-year Green Card you have already proved in immigration's eyes that your marriage is bona-fide. If you truly suspect fraud, you must separate immediately and you can alert USCIS to your suspicion, but without hard evidence that your spouse had fraudulent intent at the START of the marriage AND totally tricked you until after they got their Green Card, then you're pretty much out of luck my friend. In the eyes of immigration, someone wanting to leave after getting their Green Card (even RIGHT after) doesn't constitute fraud, unless you can prove that they only married you in the first place for the immigration benefits. After everything you've already done to show immigration your relationship is legitimate, it's nearly impossible to go back now and say it wasn't. A lawyer I consulted told me I had better odds of becoming a millionaire in the lottery than being able to prove fraud in my situation. It was the worst pain I've ever been through and so humiliating I don't even have words to express it. We went from celebrating with family and friends that he would get to stay, to him moving out and saying it wasn't working out, all within one calendar week. Wouldn't wish the pain and humiliation I experienced on my worst enemy. Consult a lawyer immediately about your case. If you stay with her you can't report it later, so choose now what you want to do, and understand that most likely making a complaint won't do anything. Good luck

I’ve had to protect my brothers from marrying foreign. My older brother is well traveled around the globe, so he is wise to their tactics but my twin brother will be fine as long as I, our older brother, and our sisters watch out for him. I know not all foreign women are bad news, but I don’t want my brothers to be taken advantage by those who are. It makes me sick how anyone from another country can abuse a system meant to help people, not to mention harm the American citizen spouses that trusted them.

He's definitely getting scammed, she wants to get a Green Card through marriage and help her kids get residency, too. If everyone is warning him and he won't listen, I guess he'll have to learn the hard way. I was conned by my Jamaican spouse too, except we met when he was in the US on a student visa and we lived together, 5 year relationship and 3 days after receiving his Green Card he admitted he never was in love with me, would never have kids with me, etc. Our whole marriage was just a smokescreen for his ploy to get a Green Card and eventually citizenship. He had me and everyone around me fooled, for some people from 3rd world countries they're very good at these games. It sounds like this girl isn't even trying to hide her intentions and he's still going along with it, that's pretty foolish but he's an adult so just try to warn him but he'll make his own choices in the end

@@mikaeels.6477 wow dude, I'm close to the divorce date, and this message came up as soon as I checked on the status . It's been a disaster since i married this woman. She tried to divorce me in another state and claimed residency in a state that has no record of her. She is a mess. Started a business using a fraudlent, lied to everyone and everything. Why do they let these assholes in this country? I was here when I met her, very beautiful but deceptive as hell. I know people can use it for a green card, but hers in conditional. I'm 38, I don't have a record, and never abused anyone. It's like people can't just fall in love anymore. I literally work with kids and have gotten FBI background checks done, the only things I get are parking tickets. lol. Do you have recommendations on writing a letter? I literally did this alone. She left literally 3 weeks after getting her conditional green card and didn't come back. I saw her once, thinking she was going to get us an apartment in Maryland, so we can live and work there together. Nope. She wants to be ghetto. It's annoying. I am in therapy now and its considered narcissistic abuse. I hate this May deport, she needs to be deported. Fortunately, once the divorce happens, she can't marry for 6 months, and her green card expires in June. So she is screwed. Moral turpitude wobblers probably have a reasonable explanation for not taking accountability for the slew of tort remedies they accumulate.

Hi, In a case where a US citizen travels to Africa to marry an African man and then she goes back to America and abandons the husband what can the man in Africa do ? Can he file a case of spousal abandonment against the lady ? My friend was a victim of this, he lives in African and the American lady has abandoned him and their marriage which they did in Africa is over 5 years and without divorce she moved on in America

Not everybody wants to stay in the USA. I for one is not interested. I may imagine myself in love with a white American but never to live there. Why there's no place like living a simple but happy life in the Philippines.
