Sean Combs - also known as P Diddy and Puff Daddy - says he is "disgusted" by his behavior in a recently released video from 2016 which shows him attacking singer Cassie. The video is the latest development after a series of serious allegations in recent months. The most recent development is the CCTV footage, which appears to show Combs punching and kicking Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel hallway on 5 March 2016. The video was obtained by CNN. The R&B singer, whose real name is Cassandra Ventura, was his protege and girlfriend at the time. The video also shows the rapper shoving and dragging her across the floor, and throwing a vase in her direction. But it follows raids on the 54-year-old's homes in Los Angeles and Miami by Homeland Security Investigations agents on 25 March, as he faced a series of public allegations of physical and sexual violence.

Many of the long standing rappers in the business may degrade women in their lyrics, but I don't think they "approve" of things like Diddy did. But I understand your point.

This is a canned apology - it's so weird. The viewer has no idea what behavior he's apologizing for. It could be for robbing a gas station, yelling at his children, fleeing the scene of an accident, streaking at a football game, egging houses in the neighborhood...literally anything! It's a garbage apology, which doesn't make a hill of beans difference when you know what he really did.

@@sproutingemily of course, but that's the only "evidence" that we've seen. It's obvious that this isn't his first rodeo. We knew Diddy was a bit off-kilter when he was filming Making the Band. He was a total a*hole to everyone there. I remember he had a kid walk like 3 or 4 blocks to go get him a slice of cheesecake! My point is, baby steps. Why would he admit to anything other than what is out there? That's normal human behavior. NONE of us would do it either. If you were called out on something you got caught doing, guarantee you're not going to apologize about every little thing you've done to everyone over the years especially when it can't be proven. Diddy is obviously a narc, but if you know anything about narcs, they rarely ever apologize. It probably KILLED him to have to respond to being caught. I wish people would let him keep talking instead of dissecting his apology piece by piece. Sometimes you just have to let people talk. It's amazing what you can find out.

Specific language around taking "full responsibility for my actions in that video", meaning, he's taking a quick break from DENY DENY DENY to admit to the one thing they have on camera (so far...) "I was disgusted then and I'm disgusted now" he doesn't look even remotely disgusted or shocked by himself IN the actual video. Instead he looks dominant, aggressive and worst of all....comfortable. He belongs in jail. The fact that there is a statue of limitations on behaviour like this is a crime in itself.

You can see how he despises women, this weekend his two teenage daughters were filmed getting all dolled up for a prom - God knows what their lives are like. The hotel had the footage in 2016, so why no charges then? If a hotel sees this sort of violence towards women they do nothing?

I’d bet a large sum he has NEVER been to therapy. Only a minuscule percentage of narcissists ever voluntarily go to therapy. It’s almost always mandated by a court after conviction of some type of crime. And if he’s not seeking forgiveness from anyone, why apologize in the first place ?

I'd bet money his PR team advised it in response to the video being released. He paid the hotel $50,000 for the security footage so he wasn't expecting to be outed, now he's scrambling.

Mark's points about how he doesn't mention or address the victim is enlightening. That point alone indicates the apology is only about him and clearing his name. Has nothing to do with rhe damage he has done. Also, Greg's delineation between sadness and sorrow is very helpful.
