OMG.. I’ve just had such an intense emotional flashback to 1983 that I’ve burst into 😭 tears! I just found myself back in my college dorm room awake all night in freshers week because the dude in the room above was playing this album endlessly at a room party. I was 18 and away from home for the first time .. just a day or two in.. “Thriller” has just topped the charts.. I was soo lucky to have been at college during such an exciting time and through amazing music. That’s what hit me.. and that I had absolutely no idea at the time that this music was going to be so special... but oh I I loved to get on the dance floor when PYT came on at a night club ... definitely one of my most favourite MJ songs. Thanks guys you’ve made this 57 year old woman very happy . 💕

I’m sorry guys. MJ definitely had some hits, I’m not gonna say that when I was young he wasn’t the bomb. I live in the Kansas City area and the Victory Tour hit for a few nights in early July. The first date here was July 6th, 1984 and I was there with my 2 good friends and my younger brother. So yeah, I was a fan for sure. But also that summer was Purple Rain in the theaters and you know where I went - straight to the purple side!💜. I was 14 back then, those were the days!! Anyway, back to MJ...after I was removed from his captivating spell I could see some of the super odd things he was doing, but I excused them as perhaps he was just eccentric 🤷‍♀️. Much later in life and all the stories that came out about him just creeped me out! I just can’t lend my support after knowing how he lived his life. He was clearly ill with a side of famous that made his way of living acceptable to many around him and it was overlooked for entirely too long. I don’t know, now days I can’t hear his music or his name without thinking about those young boys and how he totally screwed up their lives. So, yeah, talented for sure, but not for me....I’ll stay in the purple rain life!💜

I was about 14 when the Thriller album hit it...and I was hooked. He was an amazing entertainer. Fame chewed him up and spit him out...so young when he was forced to go on the road by an abusive father...none of us know the truth about what happened later except Michael and anyone who personally knew him. Whatever went wrong in his life, we must remember he lost his childhood and was raised and lived in a world we can't understand.

The “Thriller” album came out when I was like, 5 and it and Michael were just so massive that it feels like Michael Jackson’s music is the background to my early childhood. My mom played “Off The Wall” and Jackson 5 music at home and driving me to school, we had Michael Jackson lookalikes complete with the iconic red leather jacket, sunglasses, glove, etc at fairs and festivals… my very first concert was even the Michael Jackson “Victory” tour in Pontiac, MI with he and his brothers. I was probably too young to be at a concert, and I barely remember it, but my mom wanted me to have that (now iconic) experience. My mom admittedly had some very questionable parenting which landed me in foster care, but I will credit her with my love and knowledge of all forms of the arts (she had a degree in illustration herself).

Love Michael, literally everything he ever did, even when he was younger with the Jackson 5. I know Jay, you love guitar so I am recommending Peter Frampton, he is one of my all time fav's for guitarist. He has a song called "Do you feel like we do" it is over 13 min long but worth the listen, he makes his guitar sing during it and it is absolutely amazing, to me anyway. Keep it up you two, love seeing and hearing your reactions!!!! Peace be with you

Look back to when he was a boy and you can see the joy. He brought so much to this world. @@bricewgilbert no, I am neither right wing nor trying to start a cancel culture debate. You have spectacularly missed the very simple point I was making which is that there IS no reason to reference scandals when it is a proven fact that Michael Jackson was innocent of what he was accused of, and the few subsequent accusers have also been thoroughly discredited in court. So I was trying to lend a hand and make them relax about enjoying the music without the need to almost seem to apologise for liking it by referring obliquely to “scandals”.

I was OBSESSED with Michael Jackson in high school. I exclaimed to my father, "He is the perfect man". Went to two of the Victory tour concerts, Buffalo and Cleveland. Bought the second pair of tickets without my parents permission and they caved in and my mom and I went. Had nosebleed seats, but got a security guard to let me on the floor as I had a huge white teddy bear with a heart to "give to him". Got my way into the fifth row for the whole concert, and first one was in the 18th row. I was a rabid fan. Still am.
