Here is some additional information on Ren's story that I gathered from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Erin Gill is a British musician/independent artist; born in Wales on March 29, 1990; he eventually moved to Brighton. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, Ren began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is currently in Calgary, Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023) undergoing IV and other interventions five days a week. Ren recently underwent wisdom tooth removal and cavitation surgery. In addition, his Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals as well as his bones/joints. Now, Ren is receiving additional treatments for this previously undiagnosed condition. Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Your tops in my book. I've seen a bunch of reactions for this. I've never seen one expressing so much joy and enthusiasm towards his art. When I first saw this it affected me on a deeper emotional level and I completely rejected it. I somewhat mocked almost every aspect of his performance. I'm so glad I was drawn back to it and after the 3rd watch it hit me so deeply I burst into tears and couldn't figure out why. He was holding up a mirror to myself that I didn't want to see. Now every time I see it, I'm set free a little bit more. Ren is so gifted almost all of his work has the same effect at some level on me. More is revealed every time I experience his music. I believe it's intentional on his part as well. He is a craftsman of beautiful art.

I LOVE seeing the “I don’t know WTF is going on” shock at the beginning when he opens with that high singing, but by the end EVERYONE rocks out with him to it 🤣 Full circle moment of this song.

The first time I saw it I felt that it transcended not just genre, but category. It isn't simply music, it's performance art, and the free verse poetry at the end was stunning. Then I looked further, and - well, my jaw is still on the ground. Haven't found a genre he can't do and transform in the process. He may try and get caught short - but I haven't seen it yet. His skills are stellar, but his discipline and perfectionism are the drivers. He is simply amazing.

Watching your facial expressions as you took the journey that is Hi Ren was great. Could tell that it gripped you and pulled you in. This track is an incredible experience.

I could talk about Hi Ren for hours but one thing I love about watching reactions to it is the difference in how people react to his falsetto at the beginning and at the end. When he first starts singing "ooh ooh ooh" everyone is like "that was unexpected" and gets a bit weirded out and skeptical. Then when it comes back at the end everyone starts rocking out to it and there's this massive relief of tension. It's so cathartic, empowering, beautiful, and fun. Thanks for reacting.

I first saw this video about 6 weeks ago and it still gives me goosebumps. I love everything Ren does. He is an inimitable talent who reaches across genres and generations. There is no one like him.

He dropped a new song and video yesterday called “Animal Flow”. The video is a one take performance. He said they spent 9 hours shooting it.

I cried. Then i fell down the Ren rabbit hole. I've never felt less alone with my illnesses and stuff. The kindness of strangers in the "Reniverse" has just astounded me. I've found so many people that share what I thought had to be a uniquely frustrating and defeating journey. I hate that others go through this hell, but OMG it does feel less hellish with others who understand. Ren is changing the world. He's opening eyes and minds. I just hope it's not too late. We live in the most asinine timeline... humanity has become lost to the very beings it's named for. Here's to Ren, and to putting the human back into humanity. Aaaaand that sounded like a dumb politicians speech lol... but i meant every word. We need to lift each other up as often as we can. And if we see someone deliberately tearing people down, don't attack them or berate or curse them. You're only feeding the trolls. Just ignore them. It's cliché and boring, but it takes at least two to tango and if one person refuses to engage, then the other just looks silly on the dance floor. Raise each other up. If you see or hear something that you admire or if someone does something clever or whatever, TELL THEM!! Don't just smile and nod and scroll away, let them know they are seen and appreciated. Hehe for most of us this was our introduction to Ren. Imagine our surprise when we saw him really unleash himself in joints like _The Hunger_ or _Losing It_ or _Murderer_ or _Illist of Our Time_ etc 😆

Ren is therapy for so many from one song he helps so many people open up in ways therapists struggle to do in person.

Ren is brilliant...and this is his masterpiece! "Psychological warfare"..."eternal dance"..."getting older"..."getting softer"... I have ME, I "hit the wall" and it has taken me 10 yrs to get where I am today. Accepting my situation and learning how to live for not completely drain my energy, leaving me with an empty brain, numb legs and arms, tunnel vision, dizziness and a severe impotence. Of course you get down and out in a psychological way when that happens and then get in to "psychological warfare". But as he says, fighting is not always the best way to win and in my case I have to be a diplomatic spy towards myself - cooping against what I want to do, what I need to do and what I not should do to keep feeling OK. OMG...Ren really killed this!

I recently discovered Ren and this performance is changing my life, even after 52 years. I've also been watching tons of react videos to this masterpiece and tonight I landed on yours. My first thought after watching Hi Ren? - "Finally!!, Someone telling the World what I AM feeling, what I AM thinking, what I go through and am going through every day" ... A voice for those voices that no one has or will listen to.

You asked what was my first thought when I saw the first time. I thought this was gonna be an Andy Kaufman type thing. By the end I knew it was like nothing I had ever seen before.

I think I first saw this around the end of January. I couldn't give it my full attention, you know, I just have youtube playing as a side distraction for my ADD while I work and do other stuff. But I knew then I needed to go back, shut everything else off, and give it my all one more time. Finally got that time around March and fully had my mind blown properly. Ren has been my #1 musician since. It's not even close. His back catalog plus new releases has almost all other music on mute. Hi Ren was a proper introduction. It's a masterpiece. And the crazy thing is, it's not his only masterpiece. Hi Ren, The Tales, The Money Game series, Crucify Your Culture, Dominoes, Su1cIde, Crutch, How to be Me, Chalk Outlines, Losing it..... Like wtf man! He's a throwback to the 70's when they told stories in their music. When music meant something.

Chalk Outlines and How to be Me, both with the brilliant Chinchilla. More Hip Hop, rap works like the Hunger, Illest of our Time, Losing it. A wonderful retake of the Verve's Bittersweet Symphony .... just for starters!! I can imagine you will like them all.

And if you're not familiar with his history he's been dealing with chronic illness for a long time being misdiagnosed lots of medications, mental health issues and he ended up having Lyme disease all along which he is in Canada currently being treated for. Little late to this party, but, you’ve got my sub. The first time I heard this was shortly after my ex wife decided she was done with me and I had to move out, leaving my daughter behind. I was in my new place, VERY drunk, thinking about the best way to make my exit from life. Then I saw this. I’m not going to say Ren saved my life, but the depth and artistry and authenticity of this piece completely shattered my dark train of thought. Just for a moment, I forgot about my own pain. I don’t know. To be able to snap me out of how I was feeling in 10 minutes with a song? Ren is just an awesome artist.
