If there is one thing that Germans can’t live without - it is definitely bread. Sometimes they overestimate their hunger, put too much on their plate and then make an idiom like “Die Suppe auslöffeln, die man sich selbst eingebrockt hat” out of it. It’s their own fault, no one else is to blame for the bread. Or soup. Or both. But find it out yourself.
