Just to make this clear, this song was originally a poem composed in 1840 and later become a song in 1854. In fact, it was also used as the unofficial anthem of the German Empire due to the official anthem, Heil dir im Siegerkranz’s unpopularity amongst the German public for being just a copy of God Save a Queen. But if you ask me, Heil dir im Siegerkranz is better then God Save the Queen.
@shaxuesheng61283 жыл бұрын
As much as I like heil dir im seigerkranz, it is obnoxiously long and it slowly gets awkward as time passes of singing the same tune over and over.
@unknownduck0252 жыл бұрын
Heil Dir Im Siegerkranz is a good song, but I think songs like Die Wacht Am Rhein and Deutschlandlied serve better as anthems.
@AMOGLES992 жыл бұрын
@@unknownduck025 Deutschlandlied steals the melody of the Austrian Kaiserhymne composed by Haydn. The Austrian original has by far the more uplifting lyrics, especially as one of the verses is all about peace and goodwill among the nations- The song could furthermore be sung in all the languages of the Austro Hungarian empire including Italian. I always felt the German version was petty in comparison. The Germans would have done better to go for a different anthem.

Ah yes, die Wacht am Rhein… A Song against french expansionism, a song created as a remnant of 1840 with the French claiming the Rhineland like they did repeatedly before since over 200 years before the song existed.. a purely defensive song by text and nature… It is countered, out of all; by the Marseillaise, the “war song” of the Rhine army, with the woman crying from joy as the song speaks of ferocious French soldiers who come over right on top of you and will slit the throats of your wives and sons… what a beautiful message! Freedom shall be our watchword... What a liberating thought. Like the poster below me said. If you have a choice, always prefer to be against the Germans.

+000000AEA000000 -- You've got it bass-ackwards. The Marseillaise speaks of enemy soldiers invading France and cutting the throats of your sons and companions. The unofficial anthem of the German Empire is much better than the anthem of France, as the French anthem denotes a hypocrisy in French society arising from the French Revolution that destroyed the essence of Judeo-Christian Morals since the Merovidian Era. The French Republic is nothing more than a totalitarian Revolutionary regime. Macron is the greatest example of this. The German Empire had the essence of glory, and of Patriotism much stronger than France, which had always been the harlot of the British and Americans. Unfortunately, the Treaty of Versailles destroyed German Patriotism to satisfy the British and American barons and generated a ripple effect to the point where the German people were presented with revenge, out of sheer desperation, in supporting a Regime of National Socialists led by a lunatic Austrian who brought about 2 ° War.
