That's the scary thing. As a defender there's almost literally nothing you can do except try and foul him. As a team mate you'd have just been in awe. Maradona had a presence that was hard to match and ability that's actually quite crazy at times.

You should have seen him, he made it look easy and magical at the same time. Messi scored some amazing individual goals but Maradona did it every game, week in week out. There's a reason Messi said he could never be that good and it wasn't just hero worship. The 80s were something special. Imo, even if Messi had 3 World cups under his belt, he'd merely be allowed to enter comparison to debate who was the better player. Messi quite simply, cannot do the things Maradona did.
