For anybody who wants to go vegan: try looking into what you can eat- instead of what you can’t. Just search for some vegan recipes and have a meal plan for a few weeks. It was way easier for me to go vegan having a few recipes in hand than to just go to the store and look at all the things I can’t eat anymore.

Exactly! I was always in awe of people who know how to forage and now I finally gathered the courage to discover all the herbs and edible plants that grow in nature. My fav so far is sanguisorba minor, it tastes like cucumber and is super pretty 😍 going vegan really helped me discover something amazing!

My doctor did a blood test thinking it would come back deficient. He was definitely shocked and said I was the healthiest person he'd seen in two weeks.

@Yuri Q a two week time is a pretty believable time frame. Most people with plant based diets are scrutinized for their nutritional intake. This story is completely within the realms of possibility.

@Yuri Q lol yes they do. Doctors try to compliment their patients to build up trust and a good relationship. My doctor constantly compliments me in exaggerated ways, for example once she said my genes are some of the best she has seen after running a panel to see what medication would work best for me. Obviously that’s probably not true, but she wanted to emphasize the positive results of the test. It’s probably not true that this person has the best of the best blood results, but it’s well within the realm of possibility that the doctor said they have some of the best results they have seen recently. Has your doctor really never complimented you? This is not the flex you think it is.

I’m so impressed with this dietician. She is 100% accurate, a rarity when it comes to people understanding a vegan diet. And she looks fabulous! Will be following her for sure.

She is amazing, though she could have mentioned that B12 is supplemented to animals because our soils nowadays are deficient in colbalt. Also factory farmed animals (over 90% of the flesh consumed) have little to zero access to actual soil. Veganism is primarily about the animals.

Want to be a vegan? Learn Indian recipes! They are the simplest of all and the most flavourful ♥️♥️♥️than non vegetarian food! Specially south Indian food. I've seen many videos of foreigners making vegan food , I appreciate and really respect that. But what I find is it's difficult to cook & some aren't much tasty. So keep your basics as Indian cuisine . Ull find it easy , tasty, filling!

Lol, I just got grilled yesterday by a nurse at my kids doctors office. She really wanted me to feel guilty about not feeding my children dairy. Then I was given a pamphlet about how to feed my children paid for by the Michigan dairy industry 🤦

It’s not the dairy that is bad, it’s the modern day processing. Raw milk is superior and very good for humans, pasteurized milk and milk products are not.

Start off by trying a vegetarian diet and then make the full switch to veganism, really lessens the possibility that you'll turn back to a meat-rich diet 🙂 Best of luck with your quest, you're making a brilliant healthy decision!

Good for you (and us)! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Where others would say "What difference does race make?" I would say make sure you focus on those things that are unique about us [black people](since many don't care to acknowledge this about us) like the fact that melanin makes us more prone to low vitamin D levels and that we need a lower recommended dose of sodium because we may have a gene that carries a higher sensitivity to sodium which may contribute to high blood pressure. This dietitian may know this but failed to mention any of this so not to offend anyone who might say, "What does race have to do with it?" Then again maybe she doesn't. Well just adding that focused knowledge under your belt will make you stand out as a dietitian. Anyone who wishes to silence those who tailor information for us are part of the problem. ya’ll, going vegan 3 years ago was the best decision I have ever made. the community is so welcoming, my skin has cleared up and working out has been way easier since I feel so energized and motivated because of better and faster results. Also by living this way you are putting hundreds of animals out of harm’s way and helping the planet by drastically reducing your impact on the environment!! If you listen to the guidelines in this video, you genuinely won’t regret it.

im currently six months vegan and really loving it, never anticipated ever going vegan due to negative stereotypes about the community being toxic, and about stereotypes of vegans being vitamin deficient, mineral deficient or protein deficient, and also due to stereotypes about vegan soy boys being feminine and lacking testosterone. Being vegan has been one of the best changes in my life, and it's made me a better and more creative cook.

If you have the specific genetic mutation to process the milk of other animals why forgo it? Lactase persistence is a massive evolutionary advantage over those who do not have it.

You can take supplements but it’s fortified in many things like yogurt, milk, cheese and nutritional yeast 😁

Story Cox I’m just wondering... the human body is made to take nutrients from natural sources not supplements. I’d rather get my b12 from animal protein than a plastic pill. But that’s just me.

I’ve been vegetarian for 24 years and vegan for 18 years. Take vitamin D (with food) and B12 (without) and stay away from processed foods! Don’t smoke or drink alcohol (sorry) and exercise daily

celebrating one year as a vegan today! i had a blood panel done recently and everything is normal, no concerns :) my dr was happy when i told him i was vegan and still getting my nutrition! it's not impossible. i don't take supplements or anything, i just cook 100% of my meals and eat healthy.

Oh yeah! If you just search for “vegan bodybuilder” in the KZfaq search bar it will pull up so many! Also I recommend watching the Documentary “The Game Changers” on Netflix. It’s a documentary based around vegan athletes. 🥰 it’s very informative.

Well, a lot of poc who live on government assistance will rather buy unhealthy food than healthier foods because they get more for less. I work for a grocery store and see it all the time. Carts packed to the top with nothing but empty calories.

Same!! My grandmother passed from breast cancer so when the link (since proven false in humans) between soy and breast cancer was suggested I literally avoided it for YEARS. As a vegan. I’m grateful to have soy, edamame and tofu back:)

Actually, most factory farmed animals are also b12 deficient. They are being supplemented b12 in their food.

Unfortunately, the soil have been B12 depleted due to the over use of pesticides(killing insects/worms) in modern farming, the worm's lava and microbes create B12 in soil. Also, excessive farming in some areas have caused a severe reduction of B12 in the soil.

I’ve been vegan for 10 years and this is perhaps the best video I’ve seen to share with non vegans, especially those who, despite all the horrors of farming, still resist. This succinctly and gently describes every food group, is packed full of information that is so quick and easy to absorb. There’s no wasted words, no rambling. In a very subtle way, this is quite a tour de force. Kudos to the dietician and her beautiful presentation because despite my zero attention span and already knowing it all anyway! , I watched to the very end. I will definitely recommend this to non vegans. Thank you x

I‘ve been vegan for almost a year now and my Mom went insane being worried that I won‘t get enough minerals and all that so at some point I agreed to take a blood test. Turns out I was missing absolutely nothing and I‘m totally healthy:) I was super glad because I love my diet, it is just something that fulfills me and makes me really happy!

@Rishee Sreenivasan India is actually has recipes which are the most vegan friendly. Only problem is the 'ghee' mentality that our parents have been brainwashed with. Now when I make my food, I simply remove the dairy items like ghee and butter and panner etc.. Then I'm left over with vegan and cruelty free food like Rajmah Chawal, Roti Sabzi etc etc. I'm encouraging more memebers of my family to go vegan by telling them the horrible truth of the dairy industry and the meat industry. Gau mata ki jai is just a slogan in our side of the planet.. the truth is so much darker.

Thanks for debunking the “milk makes your bones stronger” myth. I also read the study and countries with higher milk consumption show higher rates of osteoporosis. It was a lie created by the dairy industry. So happy professionals like her are speaking out about it.💚

Asmeret G humans are not made to consume dairy. baby cows are. there is a reason you need prolonged exposure to dairy to be tolerant and/or receive benefits. your outlier of lactose persistence people doesn’t outweigh the mass amounts of people who are naturally lactose intolerant or become intolerant, and the correlation between dairy consumption and bone breaks.

You don't have to get calcium from milk, but we still need calcium. Your bone matrix is made of calcium. Muscles don't contract without calcium. Encouraging no calcium consumption is a bad idea, and green leafy veggies are lot a good source (look at a list of calcium sources vs the RDA on the ODS calcium health professional fact sheet). You need at least a few good sources of it a day, if not almond milk, soy milk, oatmilk, tofu, you can take tums or have a supplement. I am an MEd RD LD and do not agree with her saying calcium makes bones weaker. That would not be a largely held believe or accepted interpretation of the science in the field. I do agree it doesn't have to come fr dairy.

Aha, and it shows that she is a bad professional. There are some studies that suggest this milk worses your bones story, and many that don't. So you can not claim it like this in a video. It's just not objective.

Hello, I am a vegan and a diabetic. I maintain a low carb diet, which helps me control my blood glucose. My fasting glucose is 80 +- 5 mg/dl and my a1c is 5.2. I do not take diabetic drugs. I stay away from sugar, starches, fruits and anything with carbs more than 10 mg. This has helped me greatly. So, your listeners are diabetic and want to go vegan, it is okay as long as they focus on low carbs.

Tempeh is my absolute favorite, but seems to be much harder to find in restaurants and in the local grocery stores (shout out to Mellow Mushroom for offering BBQ Tempeh and vegan cheese on their pizzas though!🍕). Many people aren't familiar with it and either dont know it exists, or think that it's the same as Tofu... 🙄🤭

Gonna say this because no one has mentioned it and this would've been helpful to me starting out: IODINE IS ESSENTIAL. I was in the worst pain and hormonal instability while undergoing thyroid issues. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE you guys supplement iodine or consume a healthy amount of seaweed/iodized salt!

@@paramountofpuns6913 I know people make claims to be nutrition specialists without merit but a Clinical Nutritionist & Dietitian can both hold B.S. degrees & sit for the dietetics registration exam to be a R.D. & licensed to practice. Some may disagree with the large food processing corporate influence bankrolling the professional organization & the colleges thereby muddying the scientific data of the studies they finance so they prefer not to join or even practice in medical practices where insurance may decide what & when to cover nutrition services. That is why functional nutrition came about. It's best to check credentials before taking advice from any medical provider - nurses are another provider we must ask for credentials since everyone from nursing assistants to LPNs, BSNs, RNs NPs & PhDs all fall under the category of Nurse and work together in every department but have various levels of skills, specialization & yet are essential to quality patient care. However, the longer even a nurse assisitant has been in the field may have better equipped them than a newer advance care nurse fresh out of school though.

I've been on a plant based diet for 2 weeks now i jumped straight in and i am just loving the process i love the journey. It does help alot if you're already eating more vegetables than animal produce. Good luck to everyone starting their vegan season

I dropped meat and fish like 2 years ago but I did it because I didn’t want to eat animals and not so much for the health aspect of it - and so I have ate crap for the past 2 years out of laziness mostly and this video is exactly what I needed. It talks about everything and all of Miss Delilah’s suggestions are very helpful. Thank you I will look for omega 3 and b12 vitamins while I get used to having all the greens I need to

Yes, now tell me does the average American get proper nutrition from their daily food diet. I work at a grocery store and see families chock their carts full of oreos, lunchables, processed foods, Hungry Man dinners, and stuff like Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls and that doesn't look like complete nutrition for anyone.

My mom is a chef and even though she doesn’t want to go vegan or vegetarian, she still lets me go vegetarian and avoid dairy. She’d probably kill me if I went completely vegan though, aha. I’m going to college in two years so I’ll be able to make a fuller transition. Some non-vegan foods I still wouldn’t mind eating (like if I had chickens, I’d be okay eating their eggs, but not eggs in general), but it’s difficult right now when I don’t have full autonomy over my diet.

I am in the exact same boat. It took a lot of explaining and convincing just to get my mom to let me give up eggs and eat chicken only once a week, though I'm well on my way to convincing her to let me omit meat completely. A year from now I'll be on my way to uni and I'm fully intending to use that independence to go vegan. I'll admit dairy products are my crutch and where I live didn't have many plant based alternatives, only until very recently. It'll definitely make the transition easier. Can't wait!

@Nymphadora Tonks Not vegan but mostly plant based. I use cashew milk or walnut milk. I only use coconut milk in cooking like making a curry or something.

I've been vegan for 4 years now, and my diet has never been more varied, and my bloodwork has never been better. I will say though, iodine isn't talked about nearly enough. Make sure you're consuming enough

I went vegan three years ago, and I have honestly never felt better! I am the healthiest I have been, and I never worry about getting enough nutrients. I just eat what I feel, and the vegan food always gives me nutrients! I also almost never get sick. I got sick at least a few times a year before going vegan, and now I can’t even remember the last time I got sick! 🌱
