I never ever leave disapproving comments. I am honestly ONLY here because I was looking up new recipes for Downshiftology for my next shopping trip, and unfortunately this came up. I have never, in my years of following Lisa, felt like she was telling people to follow her diet? She simply is a wealth of information if you are looking to add meals like hers to your diet? It's unfortunate this video comes up right away when you research her, hopefully it doesn't steer anyone away from trying her recipes.

Wth is wrong with people these days?! It's a review that CLEARLY approved liza's diet and adviced others WITH THE SAME CONDITIONS to consult with a professional before copying Liza as what works really well for her and for normal people may not work for others who have gut issues Why are y'all defending her is if reviewing her diet offends her or something?!

I don’t know. I follow Lisa because love her style and her recipes are wholesome and delicious. She’s an excellent teacher and explains the steps in a very comprehensive and interesting way. The final result is really good food, very nutritious and appealing. I truly sympathize with Lisa’s plight, but she’s helped a lot of people like me. And, while I liked your video a lot, a find fault with your grimace in the thumbnail. It’s unnecessary clickbait and it does a serious disservice to both Lisa’s and your channel.

There is actually no guarantee that the “therapists” on there are actually certified or licensed. No good therapist (unless they're part of a clinic with an emergency team or similar) will allow "contact at any time models." Most I've got to and know tend to have a "if you're having an emergency please hang up and call 911 or go to the emergency department (or location relevant emergency mental health option)". This is for the safety of the client and therapist. Any model that relies on the therapist having 40+ clients and being open to contact at any time isn't safe for anyone.

Downshiftology is a great platform, her content is executed flawlessly and I think the nutrition science behind it is pretty solid. And because of this combo, Lisa's business is thriving. The main objective of her videos is to share healthy, budget recipes and meals, NOT diagnosis others' autoimmune disorders. However, along the way she is sharing her own food journey anecdotally. Not sure why this review video was necessary, or what value it adds to those seeking health knowledge or inspo. But i just share what i feel. I do love most of your contents though. It is just the way your video tittled, clickbait and the preview. Xo

Reducing soy and red meat makes a HUGE difference in my endometriosis, but I've found that I do need to watch my body fat percentage a bit. For me, my symptoms get worse once I cross a certain level. But Celiac's is a rough one; my brother has Celiac's, and when he was first getting diagnosed (as well as when he has a bad reaction due to accidentally eating gluten), he can have a bad enough inflammatory reaction that he becomes temporarily lactose intolerant (due to where his body attacks itself, it stops producing lactase until he's healed a bit). Crazy overlap!

The protein molecule in milk is very similar to gluten, part of why soy can trigger a celiac flair, also coffee. She has talked about it before. Cutting out all processed foods would cut out a lot of healthy foods as well. Apple sauce, yogurt, any type of milk, frozen veggies, tofu, canned beans, pickles, cereals, bread, all these foods are processed and healthy. There is no reason to fear processed food. Literally everything is made of chemicals. Water is a molecular chemical compound. Abbey has also talked about how there is no evidence that food is addictive, although it can feel addictive. We all need to eat to survive, and a healthy relationship with food is our best bet. Even a processed protein bar can be healthy. Especially if it's hard to get enough protein or fiber in your normal diet.

generally like this channel but I find the dramatic response clips pre video to be pretty obnoxious and unnecessary. I've followed Downshiftology for a while and she definitely doesn't prescribe her diet, even to those with auto immune. she simply has tasty recipes she shares. sure it's good to remind those with a tendency to hyper obsess about health/diet issues that it's all very individual but why the eye rolls and 'yikes' reactions. I feel it's probably just what you feel you need to attract more viewers, same with the video still cover pages. I guess it's what 'sells'

Exactly. And even though she doesn't like how some packaged food makes her feel, she makes her own versions with ingredients she can have (cassava tortillas, various milk alternatives, hummus etc.) She gets plenty of meat, vegetables, fats, carbs. And she does not promote her diet, but more explains the inspiration for her recipes, which is sometimes her health. This just seemed pretty unnecessary.

What a shame you felt the need to add such a disparaging thumbnail and intro to this. Whatever you think of Lisa’s meal prep and choices, you have your struggles, which you are not afraid to discuss in every video - even in your intro to this video - yet you mocked Lisa’s. You’re entitled to a professional opinion which is why I followed you initially, but why try to bring someone - who is clearly kind, thoughtful and helpful to those with auto immune inflammatory disease - down with your exaggerated, performative sighs and snide comments. Lisa has never pretended that she is giving medical advice, has always said this is just her approach for her own medical diagnoses, and just advocates healthy eating as one part of getting a professional diagnosis. Surely that’s a sensible approach. Your attitude, head rolls, “quotation fingers” and dismissiveness was really unnecessary and unprofessional. Might want to look in the mirror and consider where your clear passive-aggressive attitude towards her comes from. I just know that I’ll stick with her channel as she seems a decent & honest person and has encouraged me to seek medical & holistic & lifestyle advice for myself. And she doesn’t disparage others. And - not that you’ll care - you’ve lost at least one follower from this sarcastic, mocking video - and probably many more.

Thank you for talking about this! My doctors for years have called me a unique case as I do not fit the typical boxes. No diet plans have worked for me including the elimination diet (I became severely more reactive to the things I was not allergic to while on it than the items I’m actually allergic to) to correct my issues. I had gotten them to calm down for a long while utilizing more of a rotational diet, which I learned about from a parent with a child literally allergic to all foods. Basically, don’t repeat anything for 2 weeks in their child’s case. Regrettably, I developed colorectal cancer (I’m sure related to all of the years of GI issues) and am stage IV NED. On the other side of the treatments that appear to have done their job (yay! 🎉), my GI system has gone completely crazy again. Now I am going down the trail of locating doctors knowledgeable enough to assist while in a foreign country so it’s a bit of an adventure. 🙂

I've battled auto immune diseases since I was at least 14 years old. For me the root cause was trauma. Having a nervous system in constant fight or flight created a snow ball effect on my health which eventually developed into MS. Healing is a holistic protocol focusing heavily on self care, diet, lifestyle, nervous system techniques and healing the underlying trauma as well as targeted supplements to support detoxification especially if the patient has mthfr gene mutation or other issues with the bodies ability to remove toxins effectively. Auto immunity is also more common in highly sensitive people so there is a Spiritual aspect to it too. Its complex as you said and often triggered by complex PTSD.

Her dedication and consistency to simplifying things and making them accessible is a force for positive change. She is a true advocate for eating healthy and should be acknowledge for it and not patronized with « dietician credentials ». She has never positioned herself has the guru of her conditions. I am glad that a lot people are setting the record straight in the comments. People who journey through nutrition to improve their health are usually smart, curious and aware and make their own adjustements. I get that your brand is nutrition with a side of drama and controversy (which you seem to think makes these videos entertaining) when in fact it just dilute your amazing knowledge. There is an undertone that feels that you want to discredit the work of another that actually does good in the world. Abby I really hope you read these comments and do your own research about Betterhelp 💕 as a volunteer crisis counselor I’ve talked to so many people that came to us because BH left them in much worse mental space and out of a lot of money. They were disgustingly opportunistic after Astroworld, they have a history of lying that counselors were therapist when they didn’t have that certification but still charged as if they were and didn’t differentiate, they apparently pay their employees pretty terribly hence a lot of the therapist or counselors that work for them are ones who can’t get hired elsewhere probably for good reason, but like I said the worst of all is I’m a volunteer crisis counselor for the Crisis Text Line and I can’t begin with the amount of times people have texted in because of how awful betterhelp was and betterhelp leaving people out of a lot of money and in an even worse mental state than they were before from both the financial aspect and horrible therapists. When people contact customer support and try to voice these things and how upset they are they often just tell them seems like you need more help, sends them our way (we’re always happy to help anyone but it’s kinda wrong of them to use a busy 24/7 free nonprofit service run by us trained volunteer Crisis counselors as their safety net because their service is awful ), and then completely ghost the person. I really hope Abby looks into this and wish that more youtubers would do so. I don’t think most people would take on their sponsorship if they knew the history.

I always have a touch of psoriasis but no painful attacks since eliminating those nuts! Those two in particular cross react; similar proteins.

Omg. My doctor is trying to determine if I have PA (vs enteropathic arthritis). I was literally munching on cashews as I read this! And I’m obsessed with pistachios but they give me apthous ulcers. 💡😮😢

It’s more how she organizes and prepares her food in advance that is important. Any person can adapt her recipes to their food preferences.

I looove Lisa! I add things to her recipes because I don't have any autoimmune conditions. Abby's thumbnails should be reconsidered by her team, as it's clear that both Abby's and Lisa's followers are a smart bunch! So don't use cheap clickbait on us. I DO LOVE Abby's thorough reviews and hope you look into the Galveston Diet soon!

I find it really weird that you’re critiquing a person’s health status without her knowledge or permission. It’s intrusive and borders on unethical.
