Abbey! I love your videos a lot! I think you do a great job of debunking diet myths and informing! This sponsorship seems off-brand for you. Promoting it on your channel is a little strange to me... 6 hours of infinite lives suggests that I may be playing a role-play phone game for 6 hours? I can only speak for myself, but that would not be good for my mental health. Just some feedback! Thanks for continuing to make videos and I hope this was constructive and not offensive to you.

@@Hat65 perhaps not specifically in this video but she discusses the celery juice trend and keto and intermittent fasting, to name a few, in a way that informs rather than promotes an excessively complex and unrealistic lifestyle. I think it's healthy content as compared to other influencer content I have seen in the space.

The additive approach to food talked about here really makes a difference. The main reason I eat broccoli now is because I wanted something healthy with my pizza at my college cafeteria. I needed veggies. Ranch improves both that cafeteria pizza and broccoli. It’s a natural combo, and broccoli remains my go-to veggie companion for such things. It rounds out a chicken nugget or corn dog meal. Similarly, sprucing up Maruchan ramen led me to try cabbage, bean sprouts, green onions, poached eggs… I mean, if a little extra sodium helps me get vitamins, fiber, etc. in my body, I’m sure not going to call that bad! And veggies are soooo much more appealing when the approach is “I want vitamins” and “how can I make this meal more interesting?” instead of “I really should eat healthy.”

I’m so glad you brought up the intuitive eating assumption. I attempt to eat at home because it makes me feel better and is good on my wallet.. BUT somedays when work is extremely long and I work 10+ hours I allow myself to eat out. But I think it’s important to not beat yourself for that. In the past I used to beat myself up for eating out mid week and then find myself going on an eating out binge the rest of the week. NOW I try to constantly explain to myself that it’s okay to eat out when exhausted and busy but get right back to eating at home. ☺️

I used to do The same, now I try to eat healthy even when eating out, because before I thought that if I was eating out I should eat a hole pizza or a burguer combo. Sometimes I am just Too tired to cook or wanna try something new but my body still wants a regular porcion of something nutritive

I love how you clarified intuitive eating isn't about eating whatever you want, but it's about making self-care choices. Sometimes after work the urge to grab fast food for dinner is too strong lol but I usually make it home to make dinner, which saves money and is healthier.

Really enjoyed this, Abbey. I got a high-end-of-normal fasting glucose test in January and have been trying to eat in a way that’s better for my blood sugar. The naturopath (who I got the tests for) was horrified at my food diary and how erratic I was and how much sugar I ate. I felt really judged. But I have been making changes in ways that are friendly. The sense of friendliness is critical otherwise I can slip into a narrower focus and an anxious feeling. You communicate ease, playfulness and a health supporting atmosphere all at once and I just absorb that watching your videos. And I make decisions about food that feel happier and more confident because of it. Thankyou 🥰

Being horrified of someone’s food diary is ridiculous so definitely don’t take it to heart! That reaction says way more about them than it does you. Naturopath’s aren’t that great anyway. You’re obviously trying your best to have more balanced meals and that’s all that matters. My biggest advice is to still eat things you love but add fruits and veg wherever you can. That’s what helped me the most. Best of luck to you and wishing you health and happiness!💖

At least you were honest , you can’t help someone become healthier if they can’t first be honest about what they eat . Just take it as you have so much room to grow and don’t look at it negatively . You can learn so much about how your body reacts to food by journaling and keeping track . I think it’s best to not get into a mind set of evil verses good foods but think of foods as energy , what’s the best source of energy to make me feel good , this or that .. or occasionally this.. so on

The pre-meal appetizer while cooking hit home!! At least 3-4 times a week I get hungry cooking after work. I always grab a handful of peanut butter puffins with a few pecans to tide me over! And YES to the carbs! I have PCOS and my doctors have been super pro hunger crushing combo. Eat fruit, eat whole grains. Just be sure you're getting protein & fat & a lot of fiber! I can also confirm, as someone with a LOT of food allergies who often gets just steamed veggies & lean fish/veggies at social events since it's the safest way to avoid an allergen, it doesn't keep you full! At all! I'll often have to eat a whole additional meal when I get home!!

The carrot sticks ONLY at a party thing because of allergies is something I know too well lol. Tbh I've been eating more on outings now because places have gotten so well at food allergies now since it's more common and there's more info (I was literally asked if I was faking it when I was little, oof). I used to eat a lot of misc chips and cookies in packages I could take with me while traveling to the party, which ended up just leading to a fast crash so I need to work on FILLING snacks before a party.

I get the concept on the hunger crushing combos, but I’d love to see a video (reaction or not) about those who don’t have a similar issue. I tend to get full really easily, but then I end up definitely not eating enough (calorie wise or nutrients wise). I would love to see meal suggestions for those who get full really fast, but still need the same protein/carbs/fat levels. Suggestions for when you know you should eat a more substantial meal, but are really full already?

Was it an actual allergy test with an allergist, or a food sensitivity test? I’m curious bc of the sheer number of foods you listed, which is exactly what I eliminated after doing a food “sensitivity” test that came back “high reactivity” which is not reliable. I love that not finishing a meal is more acceptable now, I have gastroparesis and I’ve had it since birth due to digestive tract deformities. I was never able to finish a meal or drink. The gastroparesis has gotten worse over time, my last Gastric Emptying Study after the 4hrs (the longest the study will go for) only 2% had emptied. I remember getting in trouble at friends houses for “wasting food” . I’m not really allowed to eat anymore due to other issues linked but I have a gastric tube to empty stomach content if I have a liquid or something that will drain but still can’t finish a drink.

I was hospitalized for my mental health a few weeks back. For the first three days, all I did was eat and sleep. Eating whatever I wanted from the cafeteria for three square meals a day for a week was probably the MOST important thing I did for my visit. I sobbed when I realized that I had been starving my brain, too. I had not eaten food around other people for months, so I had no baseline for how often, what, and how much to eat. I think the pandemic really screwed a lot of people on that. When you’re in a habit of restrictive eating (for weight loss, poor mental health, saving money, etc.) it is a reinforcing cycle. It’s taken me a lot of work to try to learn how to feed myself again. I had to set timers for three meals every day. Maybe someday I will be able to listen to my body and eat when it tells me, but for now I’ve had to make it a goal. It’s been a long time since I’ve tuned into your channel; you are doing amazing work and thank you for helping people like me.

Hello Abbey, have you ever encountered someone with oat intolerence or someone who can't digest it? I wa eating them just fine until one day, I puked my gut out after breakfast and couldn't eat anything for the rest of the day. Note that I was using the same kind of oats by the same brand and that just happened overnight. Ever since I tried other types of oats and other brands but it didn't help. I also tried 1 tbsp of overnight oats because I read they are easier to digest. It frustrates me because I used to enjoy them a lot and almost every recipe on the internet nowadays calls for them so I feel stuck using white flour instead. I really hope you see my message, and respond to my comment 🙏🏽

So, I guess my parents didn't make me eat the veggies, so I grew up kinda not eating them, so I just hate the taste and texture of veggies and I don't eat it. My entire diet is rice, beans, all types of meat, cheese, pasta and bread. Breakfast? Sandwich. Always. And I'm trying to eat more veggies, and this lunch I ate pasta with cheese, meat and I tried eating cauliflower, soft and sliced up with bbq sauce to try to erase the flavor. But I could still taste that horrific taste of the cauliflower, so after some time, I stopped eating the cauliflower and got another serving of pasta so I can eat just what I like. I don't know what to do because if I eat something I don't like, aka veggies, I will want to eat something that I like, so I will eventually overeat. I should probably talk to a nutricionist, but I have so many doctors I have to go to right now that I don't have the time and money. After I go to the dentist, cardiologist, psychiatrist, psychologist and orthopedist, maybe I'll go to a nutricionist. :)

I don't follow Remi, but it seems like anytime a video of hers is recommended to me, it's always about her on a diet. She seems to Yoyo A LOT. I hope she finally gets the help she needs to succeed and not be so hyperfocused on these trend diets.

Hi Abby, i’m a relatively new subscriber, And i really like your videos. But as a person struggling with my weight for years, i wanted to know what you would advise as a weight loss diet. I don’t binge, and restrict my calories to below 1300 a day, and i try to eat balanced meals like you talk about. I have been taking prozac for the past 20 years, and i think it really slows down my progress, and makes me gain weight very easily. I would love to get some advise from you.

hey I'm not Abbey but you may want to watch your protein intake- most people eat a lot but they're still deficient in protein. Protein increases metabolism, doesn't make you very hungry, is AMAZNG for hair and skin. Also don't forget healthy fats, they're very important for energy. Try to eat Carbs before or after a workout, they'll burn faster that way. Most importantly, don't let yourself be so hungry that you end up binging. Keep things like cucumber and hummus for snacks, drink a lot of water. Also, try not to watch TV or something while eating, sometimes we eat mindlessly because of that. Take care, you got this! xo

Wait, intuotive is not eating whatever you want? What happened here? I don't understand anymore, so it is restrictive then? If you're craving unhealthy foods for your body, those are not bad, but just not intuitive because they don't nurture my body? Isn't that the same thing?

I will say personally I gained 20 pounds from the year where I restricted my diet. When your body is in starvation mode it might want to hold onto every calorie you DO consume and hold onto every pound that you DO have, and even make room for more. Everyone's bodies are different. Some people can lose weight from restricting, others gain weight. Depends how their body is wired. I restricted and gained 20 pounds, so it's absolutely 100% possible that Remi gained weight eating the way she was. Bodies do what they wanna do at the end of the day, and there isn't much you can do to change it unless you understand your body and have a strong, evidence based plan with a practitioner to try to make change happen. Btw I didn't mean to come across as aggressive in any of this, just wanted to explain myself! :)

She ate a lot in the video. Gaining about 30 pounds in 2 years is only a little over 1 pound of weight gain per month. You don’t have to overeat that much to gain weight. She explained in her joint podcast that she gained weight in quarantine. She used to exercise three times a day and ate a bunch of salad. I think what she ate in the video is realistic for her. It’s Remi by the way, not Remey

As for myself, what matters the most is what ingredients are you putting into your body (come on... some of the things they put into your food you can't ever say more or less what it's doing to your body is scary). I personally want fewer endocrine disruptors that are the root of health issues. Does Remi even understand that the hot Cheeto she is consuming was shown on dateline catching on fire???? INFLUENCERS (shaking my head - NO THANK YOU). Yo, Yo dieting is also scary to your thyroid. Maybe you can correct me if I am wrong. I recently came across another certified dietician that said that we should only drink pressed juice with lemon only if we consume it within the day we make it. This individual said that so many KZfaqrs show that it's okay to press juice with lemon overnight or prep for a week on end causing unwanted harmful bacteria to grow (person showed on a slide the bacteria that was under the micro). Therefore, adding more harmful stomach issues too arise. I don't know because I have only made a smoothie within the day that I want to consume it. I wish I could be happy with the same meal for a week but...ahh!!! With prices going up on food, and health issues at bay; eating healthy as we like might be a thing of the past (quite concerning).

Agree with some of your points. I appreciate the idea of not shaming anyone for food desires. It matters that Abbey calls b.s. on media pressures against women and on unhealthy restriction disguised as wellness. However, I think there is definitely more room to examine the prevalence of processed foods getting in the way of our ability to eat intuitively that these videos often don't really explain, even if intuitive eating is more subtle than just eat whatever you want (stuff like cheese being processed is not the same in my mind as the processing in most preserved, convenience/snack foods or fast foods). I would love to see a video that thoroughly addresses how modern food chemistry, availability of cheap highly processed palatable foods, food deserts, genetically modified and institutional food menus (such as in schools), limited food prep. time, really affects our ability to eat intuitively. How much of it is us needing to mend our own dysfunctional psychology around food versus fighting rapidly changing food production and economic structures and our bodies'/minds' long term responses to a technologically/chemically manipulated food environment?
