he is measuring the incidence wrong! every time you have new cases (nominator) you must deduct the old number of the total population for the denominator! so in year 2 the incidence will be 2/8 and so on!

Your year 2 incidence is wrong bro your denominator should be people at risk and those who had herpes in first year should be removed from your population or denominator when you calculate year 2.
