Good Q&A about NRE vs NRO which gave good clarity and difference between the two accounts. It would have helped on how to change savings account when In India to NRO account, and is it possible to change NRO to Savings?? This would complete the process for an NRI. You said savings account is not possible, but what is the process to change Existing savings to NRO or what will happen to savings account. Please give details regarding this.

USA citizens and GC holders need not to dispose their assets in india. Wrong info MR. financial advisor. You need to know the rules clearly first coming in to the TV

I think some info is correct. A foreign citizen of Indian origin can open an NEE account, no need to be Indian citizen. Also he was commenting about GreeCard or Permanent Residence, needs to dispose Indian accounts, that’s incorrect and totally wrong. As GC/PR still they are india. Citizens so no need to dispose. NEE Account can only receive the agreed foreign currency . Can not deposit any other currency including rupees, no tax NRO - can receive any currency including rupees and yes it’s taxable as per Indian laws.
